This was our second time at the Divi Village Golf and Beach Resort. My husband and I stayed there last year and really enjoyed it, hence, the return visit. Travel during Covid is stressful enough but we were looking forward to getting away. When we arrived they said our room was ready even though we arrived before check in time and we were happy about that...until we got to the room. When we stayed last year we were in an end unit in Birdie 1. This time they put us in Birdie 9 and it was in the middle of the the building, first floor in what felt like an alley. If you open the bedroom shutters anybody who is going for the stairs can look in your room. The room also smelled like a musty, moldy basement. I called the front desk immediately, reported my issues and asked to be moved to another building (preferably where we stayed last year). The lady said she would check availability and call me back. A short while later she called back and said there was a room in the building we wanted but that it wouldn't be ready until 4 p.m. (regular check in time) which was fine with us. She told us to go back to the front desk and drop off our luggage. When we got to the front desk she asked us if we looked at the new room. How were we supposed to do that?!?!? Anyway, at 4 p.m. we went and got the new key, our luggage and off we went to the new room. Well, the smell of the dank basement was 100 times worse, the room was in the same spot as the first one, except it was on the 2nd floor and still the same situation with not being able to open bedroom shutters unless you want people peering into your bedroom. The bedroom ceiling over the bed had a bulge as if there had been a leak at some point (which I don't get being that there is the same set up on the third floor). The smell in the drawers of the dressers and the closets was overwhelming. At this point we were tired and decided to just try and make the best of a bad situation as this was our vacation but I did stop at the front desk on our way to the beach and told them about the room situation....again. She offered to have maintenance staff bring a dehumidifier. They did but how effective was it when the "clean filter" light was flashing. Plus, I really didn't want to see a dehumidifier in the kitchen area and it was lopsided as it was missing a wheel. Anyway, later on I asked them to take it out. They must've sprayed some air freshener in the room because it smelled flowery but that was very short lived. In no time at all the basement smell was back. The next day I told the woman at the front desk that she should come smell our clothes because they stank from being in the drawers and closets. Just not a good situation. At Mulligan's, one of our favorites last year, the service was bad. We waited forever for food and we were practically the only ones in the place! One morning they actually served me waffles that weren't fully cooked and cold. The only thing that made the stay there bearable was some of the staff there. Erwin always there with a big smile and hearty greeting...Enrique at the Infinity pool bar was excellent as he made sure the liquor we liked was in stock; he can make you any drink you like and you can see he enjoys practicing his craft. I wished this trip would've been different and I can't understand how we got saddled with sub par rooms in a resort that was no where near filled to capacity. They should've gotten the room right the first time and no one from management ever came to see or smell the situation for themselves. My husband and I work hard all year and look forward to our one week away. We certainly didn't expect to stay in a room that smelled like our basement did before we spent a boat load of money to have it waterproofed, etc. Shame on you Divi Village.…
We spent our 20th anniversary at the Divi Village and had a blast. The resort is beautiful, and you can access all the amenities included in the village all-inclusive package as well as those at the Divi all-inclusive resort across the street. Nice, quiet, and a great place to relax and enjoy time with your spouse. I would highly recommend!
We stayed at the Divi Golf location. This was pur first time in Aruba, and let me tell you...we will 1,000,000% be going back!! We didn't have 1 disssapointing experience. The food, weather, resorts, staff....EVERYONE & EVERYTHING was absolutely outstanding. It was a hassle to get there with all the testing, uploading, etc, but again SO worth it. The island was not busy by any means which was unfortunate for their economy. As for us being first timers, it gave us the opportunity to see the island in a whole new light. The cleanliness was definitely reassuring. They took temperatures and had hand sanitizing stations EVERYWHERE. We highly recommend going to Aruba!! ❤❤❤
The Divi Village Golf resort is highly recommended to stay. The resort accommodations were very clean and sanitized. The resort is located perfectly in Aruba close to all you need. Safe, relaxing environment.
This was my 16th year in Aruba. I love my resort! The staff, swimming pools, Mulligans and Beach Bar. Yes, you have a short walk to the beach, but not a big deal. Shuttle service is great! Everything was clean and everyone wore masks. We felt very safe. My husband loves the golf course and enjoys the personal attention from the staff. Can't wait to return!!
