My second time here. The first time (4 years ago maybe) there was construction and it apparently continues today. We came back for the island, but even the flamingos won’t bring us back. Incredibly loud hammering all day above our room and water dripping from the light fixtures. The manager tried to be accommodating by moving us to what I call their “back-up” suite and gave me a few Marriott points. By back up, it’s that suite they won’t use unless they have to because it’s right above the kitchen and pretty noisy itself. Bless her heart, she tried. But this property failed to meet the standard of the brand by a long shot, which is unfortunate when you spend so much money on a long awaiting family vacation. I’ve been a long time Hilton guy and considered a switch, but we’re not getting anywhere like this.…
This hotel used to be great many years ago, but it’s awful now. Constant drug users at property, “ security “ is a joke, customer service is a joke, and the hotel overall is just not up to Marriott standards. Employees have a nasty attitude like they are doing you a favor? Try another property. Shocked Marriott has not come in and gotten this hotel in shape. The saying, “You get what you pay for,” is true with this property. It’s like they have hired high school drop-outs.
We visit Aruba regularly and would not stay anywhere but the Renaissance! The location is perfect, being downtown and within walking distance of so many wonderful restaurants. The pearl of this place is the private island where we can relax and read, swim and sun. The restaurant on the island is terrific, but the one thing that brings us back year after year is the fabulous staff in the hotel and on the island. We have made friends with many of the staff over the years. They are always so thoughtful and helpful. Liliana, Ketty and Lynetha of housekeeping are wonderful. Vanessa (on the island) always remembers us and gives us special attention. And we enjoy chatting with Elizabeth at the boat dock. If I could make one recommendation, it would be to issue all your employees new name tags with their names written in larger letters! We’d love to be able to call them by name and commend them for their service, but often it is difficult to read their names in such small print. This is truly a hospitable place and we always feel welcome here.…
The private island is lovely and the flamingos are charismatic, but I can’t recommend the hotel itself. Loud construction all day, and it takes all day for the rooms to be cleaned, To top it off, a fire alarm went off at 5am. Stay up in Palm Beach instead.
- The sales representative wrote me ONCE and did not follow up with any of my emails during my stay. - When we arrived at the lobby, there was a lot of noise and we could not hear what the front-desk people were saying. IF you are welcoming people please do it in a space where conversations are easy. - When we were going back from the private island the radiator of the boat exploded and the dress of my fiancee was damaged. The driver even asked if we were ok and told us just to talk with the hotel staff. The only thing we got was 50$ for cleaning when the dress needed to be replaced. - We requested a cabana from the private island with an extra birth cake for the service. When we arrived they did not have the order for the cake and blame us for not placing the order even though we followed up with the front-deks personnel. - The hotel did not offer a shuttle from or to the airport. For the price of this resort, the quality was WAY lower than expected. It is a low-graded hotel with mediocre staff that does not how to treat guests. Only the staff at restaurants and bars were decent.…
We booked this hotel so we could have easier access of doing flamingo island without the hassle of trying to do the day pass. The hotel is in a convenient location and the staff was good. The hotel rooms are a little on the smaller side which isn't a big deal but the shower felt very tight. The walls were on the thin side and you could hear outside noise. Otherwise the hotel was great we had so much fun at flamingo island and all the food options were great. For the hotel as a sole option it seemed very pricey for their off season and what the room was.
We had an amazing time interacting with Caesar the doorman. He was always nice and engaging. Always asking how our day was going and offering suggestions to what we planned to to that day. If it was getting us a taxi or calling up the shuttle to bring us between the marina view or the ocean view he was GREAT!
We stayed at the Adult only (Marina side) on the all inclusive package We Booked with TUI from the UK and they were terrible but that’s for another review Checking in at the hotel was a hot and long affair, we took the group bus from the airport (big mistake) Top tip… pay for a Taxi (about $25)You get to the resort first and avoid the hoards from the bus all trying to check in at same time During our wait for check in I would have liked a welcome drink or cold towels (would be a nice touch) especially after a 9 hours flight but used the time to have a quick look around and I liked the Vibe. The reception is just across from the pool and bar the DJ was banging some tunes out, he must be good as he only had one ear phone on one side. Staff were great, very helpful and friendly, all staff seemed to genuinely enjoy working at the hotel which was a bonus, and would always go the extra mile Can’t complain about the food, LG steakhouse was terrific and Jean was attentive. Frescos was lovely for breakfast & dinner and Paulo was very funny Alcoholic Drinks are non branded style but free poured (very strong) and mixed into tasty cocktails, Smoothies and crushed ice drinks The gym was clean and basic but did the job if you were feeling guilty I liked the location by the Marina, and the sister hotel was only a 10 minute walk away. They have a lovely pool and sea lagoon to swim in There’s live DJs at both resorts after 4pm by the pool The marina side has a more adult theme at night Starbucks is on-site at the marina side but not part of all inclusive just in case you were hoping We also ventured up the coast a bit and we found Eagle beach end Palm beach (10 & 15 mins away by taxi) very busy and high rise about $20 to $25 for a taxi I preferred where we were Main Improvement points for hotel Our standard room had paper thin walls, and we could hear people talking and loud TV noise throughout the night. Welcome drink and quicker check in would be nice for new arrivals. Top tips Book LG steakhouse in advance unless you like eating at 10pm Goto Frescos for Breakfast and green some towels & poolside recliners before you sit down if you dislike airport noise, don’t book the ocean suites We couldn’t hear the airplanes from the Marina side but the sister hotel is more or less alongside the runway, so take off is particularly loud! You get the Same problem on the private island for the flamingos and iguanas they are joined by a selection of Boeings every 30 mins In Summary I liked the resorts and the hotel in general, they have a lot of USA flights coming in and we met a lot of friendly Americans Massive Instagram perfect pic culture with the hotel guests We loved watching the fake poses by the ladies and the loyal partners taking 20 photos only to be sent back to do more! I blame Instagram! The Flamingos are beautiful from any angle, and I loved the iguanas shuffle around Great for people watching & nature watching Special mention for Mark on Pool Bar duty for looking after us so well in the boiling sun…
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We didn't want to leave to come home! It was that perfect. We had the most amazing stay, all thanks to Natalie and all the other wonderful employees there. Our bed was very comfortable. We highly recommend renting out a private cabana! Our cabana day on the beautiful private island was one of the best days of our lives. We could have just stayed there forever. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. We also recommend Dinner under the stars. It was such an amazing experience on the beach. The food at the Renaissance was also so delicious (we especially loved the sushi). If you're looking for the perfect place to stay in Aruba, look no further!
We had a wonderful stay at the Renaissance Ocean Suites. Everyone was very attentive specially our room attendants, Katherine and Laurente, were very helpful and friendly. They did a nice job. Everytime we needed assistance they were there to help. Also Marcia, the Bingo attendant, and Valerie from front desk were very attentive and helpful. We had a great time on the island. The boys at the rental equipment there were very nice and attentive. I have been coming to this resort since 2004 and we are always looking forward every year to come back.
