Detailed Reviews

We stayed here for six days last year and ten days this year. We have returned because having changed destination in the Caribbean every year we felt that we had found the perfect destination. It is absolutely delightful. The most important point within any hotel is the staff. It is difficult to write on this as each and everyone were sensational. Totally professional, but also personable and very friendly. Indeed being a returner you are truly feeling that you are returning to friends.
Last year we only had a couple of small comments which related to the comfort of the chairs within the apartment. Within the first 12 hours of arriving they fitted very acceptable and comfortable seat pads to the internal chairs, whilst installing lovely new chairs on the balcony. Thank you again. Are only other comment was that we wished to return to the same apartment and they ensured that we did.
The breakfast and lunch are served beside the beach and are wonderful, whilst the evening meals are served near the reception, at the top of the hill. A car is sent down to take you up as it is a truly formidable slope. The evening meal has been criticised in the past and indeed we were not impressed last year. This year it was much improved, which is why we used it a number of times. Last year we would have probably given it 2 out of 10, well this year it has improved to a solid 7.
As there are only a couple of dozen apartments the large beach and beautiful pool provide plenty of space for all. Whilst on the beach each day you are furnished with towels, water, a fruit kebab and a cold flannel. Clearly drinks can also be ordered.
A wonderful boat and captain are on call throughout the day to drop you around the corner to Nelson’s Dockyard and in the evening restaurants also around the corner will send boats to pick you up. You simply make the booking via reception.
My wife and I are thinking that we should not write something so glowing as we don’t want to find we cannot return due to being too popular.
Thank you management and in particular thank you to the wonderful staff. We both wish you well, keep safe and trust that you all come through this current crisis fit and well.

This is a beautiful hotel and we will be sorry to leave tomorrow but we will definitely return.
I don’t usually review hotels until we are home but having read the most recent review ( overlapping with our stay) I really wonder if we are at the same hotel.
The location is superb on a beautiful beach with easy boat access by hotel launch and the ever cheerful captain Veere to English Harbour and Falmouth bay. There are also excellent marked walking trails straight from the hotel and 2 lovely floodlit tennis courts which we used most days. Great coach too. I recommend however bringing your own racquets..
The pool area is stunning and spotless and makes a change from swimming in the sea. The beach service was always attentive and cheerful as were all the staff.
Our deluxe suite on an upper floor was large, comfortable and again kept spotlessly clean and serviced twice daily with an abundance of towels and toiletries. We spent the first 3 nights in a ground floor room and on enquiring about reserving an upper one next time we were delighted to be offered one for the rest of our stay. That suite was superior to the first (possibly recently refreshed) but all rooms seem good and all face the sea.
The food in the restaurant was good although it was also nice to eat out sometimes for a bit of local variety and atmosphere. Breakfast could be improved but I think the staff and kitchen are still adapting to the demise of the buffet breakfast.
Covid has been particularly hard on the hospitality industry and it’s not over yet. We just feel enormously privileged to have spent a wonderful 11 nights in this beautiful hotel.

This is an idyllic spot in beautiful Antigua. The hotel is split between the bar, restaurant and front desk at the top of the hill overlooking English Harbour and the rooms themselves at the bottom of the hill set in perfectly manicured gardens. Breakfast and lunch can be had in the beach restaurant. The rooms are in a colonial style, large and spacious. The staff are all friendly and helpful. A special ‘call out’ to Darren who looks after the beach, loungers, towels, water and trips to the bar. Thanks everyone for a lovely vacation.

This boutique hotel has an excellent location and white sandy beach within easy reach of the historic Nelson’s Dockyard with it’s selection of restaurants ,bank and shops ….from there you can also walk across (10 minutes) to Falmouth with its large harbour for sailing boats .The Inn has its own water taxi with Vere, “ The Captain” as he is affectionately known being able to shuttle you back and forth to Nelson’s at your leisure.
Back on your beach Kimoy is another of the hotels cheerful characters : he arranges your chilled water, soft towels and a range of drinks from the bar.
Ocean works in the beach restaurant and he ‘makes waves ‘ with his sensational cappuccino and friendly conversation .Orcadia and her team Miriam ,Tussy and Tonya are well organized and provide a lovely breakfast experience overlooking the beach.
Sasha was very helpful in the boutique and arranged our outside lunch booking and one days car hire with effortless ease :the most stress free car rental experience that we have ever experienced.
A special mention to Sherma and Shanice for handling our booking and taking care of us once we had arrived.
There is a wonderful spirit of harmony and friendship at this hotel and it is one of the best that we have experienced anywhere in the World.
Well done to Fabio and all of the team !

We had a wonderful time. From start to finish everyone was so attentive and friendly. We had a warm welcome from the receptionist with a detailed orientation of the property. A lovely welcome drink awaited us -no alcohol yet 😊 We were shuttled to our sealed room as part of the required standard operation for COVID certified hotels. Room was spacious with a big bed and a lovely view overlooking the beach. At the beach, Darron the beach attendant made sure we were well hydrated. We had a sense of privacy which was what we were looking for. The food was lovely on the days we used the Restaurant. I would recommend the hotel and will definitely be back!

This was our second visit to the Inn and we were welcomed back like old friends, I was really surprised how many staff remembered us and seemed genuinely pleased to see us again. We had a fabulous room on the first floor with a huge veranda looking out over the gardens , tree covered hills and the beach, so a perfect vista. The biggest difference this year was the quality of the evening meals which has vastly improved and subsequently there were far more guests enjoying their dining experience. All the staff are so friendly and look after us so well. One of the highlights for me was a tour of the hotel gardens including the kitchen gardens which provide the restaurant with all their fresh fruit , vegetables and herbs, thank you Martin and your team. Finally , recognition must go to the hotel manager Fabio, who leads by example, is ever present and maintains such high standards in every area.

Dear Fiona, Thank you for taking the time to write this review on your stay here with us at The Inn. One thing that characterizes the island of Antigua and I’d like to think our resort too is the authenticity of the place and people and so, yes, our staff was genuinely pleased to see you again. We are also happy that you have appreciated the improvement brought to our food quality by Chef Antonio, we really enjoy working with him. We hope you will give us the chance to extend more genuine welcome to you in the coming years. Kind regards Fabio Giorgi General Manager

We enjoyed our holiday at the Inn at English Harbour, especially the warm sunshine, blue skies and very friendly staff.
We do have some less than positive feedback though,…
Apart from the first night, we stayed in one of the four ‘semi detached’ beach cabanas, as requested and booked several months in advance. We were allocated the cabin right next to the resort boundary (no. 35) by a low hedge, behind which was an open storm water drain and what seemed to be a bit of a local waste tip (rotting vegetation and old Christmas decorations etc.) There was also a large and busy public car park just the other side of the hedge.
We requested to move to one of the other beach cabanas on the other side of the resort, but unfortunately the reception advised that this wouldn’t be possible. I’d explained that my wife was quite upset given the location of our accommodation but they repeated that nothing could be done.
As we had feared there was a lot of noise from the neighbouring, more public, part of the beach and car park. Often there would be very loud music during the day, but also at various times during the night, right up to about 5am in the morning, when it appeared that people would congregate in the car park with loud music playing! Also, this particular room had the issue of people ‘spilling’ over from the the more public part of the beach in front of our cabana. At various times we had to ask people not to sit on the sun chairs that were allocated to our accommodation. We realised that all of the beach is available for public use, but this was only an issue for this particular cabana (35). Also, there would often be litter (beer cans, crisp packets etc) left in front of our cabana in the mornings from people congregating there during the night.
This also made us somewhat concerned about the security of our accommodation, as whilst, the resort had tight security at its entrance (up the hill), it would be very easy for someone to walk from the beach to our cabana.
The room itself was pleasantly arranged although in need of some maintenance as the shower room door would not shut due to significant swelling. This was a particular problem as our ‘neighbour’ smoked cigars on their terrace and the smoke came into our room through the gauze in the shower room window.
We managed the issues, by spending most of our time at other parts of the resort or off the resort.
We mentioned the problems to the hotel reception on day two of our 11 day holiday and upon checkout expecting some apology or recompense, but none were offered. In fact when asked if other guests had had the same problems with room 35, we were told that yes this had been an issue for other guests too!
On return from our holiday we felt the need to take up the issue with our travel Company Tropic Breeze, but unfortunately the hotel don’t seem to accept our concerns.
So, whilst the hotel has some good features, and some very friendly, helpful staff, we would certainly (in our opinion) make sure that you avoid room 35 of this particular resort for the reasons explained.

Dear Mr. Dudley, Prior to the Tour Operator contacting us, we were not given any opportunity to discuss any shortcomings with you to asses if there were grounds to issue any refund. Instead, we were told post departure that the guests expected a refund otherwise they would write a bad review on Tripadvisor!! This is wrong, very wrong!! You arrived on 30th December 2021, where you were accommodated in a Junior Suite as previously reserved with a scheduled room move to a Beach Cabana on the second night, which was the 31st of December. On 31st December, you spoke to Ms Sherma Henry, our Reservation and Front desk Manager as you did not want to move to that room. Ms Henry explained to you that as the hotel was full, we had no other room available and if anything became available in the next few days, she would inform you. You said that you were not sure that your wife would indeed want to move again. However, the room move was completed to Beach Cabana 35. The beach Cabanas have a great location being right on the beach and that is why a lot of guests keep rebooking those 4 rooms. However, our larger suites (like the one you stayed on the first night) are located in a more posterior position and so offer more privacy. Being on the beach and in addition during the new year holidays may have had increased noise from the neighboring accommodation or parking lot and although out of our control we do apologize for that. I have to say that after the chat with our front desk manager on the 31st of December I could find no other report from you to our staff or managers. On departure our receptionist Shanice asked how your stay had been and you had reply all was good. Subsequently you ask her about the noise in the neighboring areas and she confirmed that noise do travel across. I am sure you are aware that we have at least 4 members of our staff sweeping the beach every morning and regularly clean beyond our boundary, meaning next to your room. Also, two members of our staff are based on the beach the whole day to ensure service to our guests and also to prevent and deter any disturbances to your time with us on the beach. In your opening statement you did say that you enjoyed your holiday at the Inn at English Harbour so we hope you consider rebooking with us and stay in a junior Suite next time. Kind regards Fabio Giorgi General Manager

The Inn is a stunning small elegant boutique colonial style resort in the most beautiful location on Galleon Bay. Close enough by a quick courtesy boat trip to the UNESCO English Harbour and set in private tranquil gardens.
We stayed in both an upper floor junior suite room 33 (2 beds joined together) and a delux ground floor suite (room 16) which was larger and had the most comfortable super king four poster bed with mosquito net.
What makes the resort stand out is the service, it was impeccable throughout and we enjoyed talking with all the staff.
We decided not to stay full board, but enjoyed the Italian night at the Terrace and the lunch at the Reef Bar. We agree with other reviews that the menu and food at the Reef bar is better. An easy taxi ride at night can take you over to English Harbour to experience lots of other great dining options. (Catherine’s Cafe, Incanto are also great)
The beach beds were really comfortable and there were lots of them, fresh fluffy beach towels and a courtesy bag with water bottles to fill up with chilled water from dispensers were provided on arrival.
We also enjoined playing tennis on the flood lit grass style courts, and chess in the library.
This is an elegant quiet resort, mainly for mature couples situated on one of Antiguas best beaches.

The Inn at English Harbour is a beautiful small resort of just 28 rooms set on lovely grounds adjacent to English Harbour on Antigua. It sits on lovely Galleon Beach, a quarter mile of white sandy shoreline. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated with dark furniture and four-poster beds with mosquito curtains. Each room has a patio or deck overlooking the grounds and the ocean.
The Inn is, if anything, more British than Britain. Most of its clientele is British, and thus it is wonderfully civilized. One employee told us only about 15 percent of their guests are American, but as far as we could tell we were the only Americans our entire stay. They offer complimentary tea every afternoon at 40 p.m.
Service at the Inn is universally excellent with one exception mentioned below. Staff in the dining rooms and bar are friendly, helpful and professional.
The food at the Inn is a mixed bag. Much of it is very good, some is mediocre, and one meal we had was inedible. On Italian night we were served roast suckling pig that consisted of a hunk of bone, gristle and skin with three bits of edible meat on it. I asked the waitress to inform the chef, but no one ever appeared to apologize or explain.
There are a few other issues at the inn. The main dining room, bar and reception are at the top of a long, steep hill. When you check in you are told to just call the front desk any time and they will send the shuttle to take you up or down. Alas, if a shuttle comes in less than 15 minutes it is your lucky day. A couple of times we had to all twice.
There are a handful of other issues. The fitness center is a joke. It is a small separate building with holes in the roof, an inadequate air conditioning system and a few pieces of rusty broken exercise equipment. The water sports equipment is equally disappointing. We asked to take out a sailboat but were told they had no rigging. It is on order. We asked to make out a paddle boat but were told it is broken and had no steering. At various times during our stay there were also problems with air conditioning, water supply and electricity.
The most frustrating aspect of the otherwise lovely Inn is that with a few minor fixes it could move from being a very good resort to a great one. Since all the issues mentioned in this review have been mentioned in previous reviews, however, one must conclude that management has decided they don’t need to fix these issues to keep the guests coming. It is a shame the Inn at English Harbour does not strive for real excellence.

Response from Fabio Giorgi, General Manager at The Inn At English Harbour

Dear David, Thank you for your comment and kind compliments on our staff and hotel in general, including rooms, and grounds. We also took note of the other comments you made which I will address in more details below. During this season the food has been very well received by new guests as well as returning guests and I am happy to read your comment that “much of it is very good”. On Tuesdays we offer an Italian themed night to our guests and the menu consists of dishes from the different Italian regions, we call it a Culinary Tour of Italy!! The suckling pig you had is from Sardinia, the native land of our Chef Antonio. Suckling pigs as per tradition are very small about 5Kg-7Kg approx. and are very tender, with a crispy skin and yes it does have some extra bones compared to a larger animal. However, I was advised that the kitchen sent out a replacement dish right away with a different cut of meat. Having a restaurant on top of the hill is a beautiful thing and the views are amazing, however transporting large number of guests for dinner at the same time has proven to be quite challenging and we apologize for any excess time you had to wait. For your information, we have now added another car in order to solve the matter. The Inn offers a small basic gym and among the equipment, we have a Technogym Unica which is a great machine, a bike, a treadmill, a cross trainer, free weights, benches, exercise balls and yoga mats. We do listen to our guests and although the last 2 years have been difficult, we are making plans to make some additional changes for the next season to our gym, all while keeping in mind that we only have 28 rooms and that our clientele seldom uses this service. My apologies for the non-working paddle boat in water sports. We are working to get it fixed in the shortest time possible. Although this was out of order while you were here, we also have 2 laser boats that we had serviced by a boat expert just a month ago and checking with our beach staff this morning, I was advised that they are fully operational and are being used by guests daily. I am not sure what you were told but I will check them again and I apologize if any confusion was created on our part. The owner and management team are always at work to ensure the smooth running of the operations here at the hotel, and often, changes and improvement have been implemented on guests’ suggestion. We care about The Inn and about our guests. We do admit that sometimes things do not go exactly as we would want but please accept our apologies. We hope to welcome you as a guest again one day. Kind regards Fabio Giorgi General Manager

My wife and I have just returned from 9 nights half board at The Inn, staying in a garden junior suite. Our first time to Antigua but I am sure it will not be our last.
The staff are so friendly from the point of arrival until you leave, and its 5 star service but in a relaxed and informal style that puts you at ease. Nothing is too much trouble.
The food is excellent, with plentiful choice at breakfast and high quality evening meals. We often enjoyed the catch of the day ranging from Mahi Mahi, Wahoo to Red Snapper, all fish sourced fresh that day from the head chef's Antonios contact😉. A menu change each Friday occurs to give plentiful choice. I would recommend half board as we often skipped lunch as was always full. You have to remember this is a 5 star hotel with 5 star quality and costs. Drinks are well priced though, cocktails $10 US and wine well priced.
You are given access to free drinking water during the stay with reusable bottles and full tea making facilities in room.
A complimentary english afternoon tea was provided at 4pm each day, cakes, sandwiches and savouries. We enjoyed this on 2/3 occasions when choosing not to have lunch as you can only eat so much!
From talking to residents who have stayed at various other resorts and from our own experience, this is the place to be in Antigua. Not only is the resort well positioned with calm seas for swimming and snorkelling (some beaches on the west get closed in high winds due to rough seas) you have easy access to Nelsons Dockyard, Pidgeon Point Beach, with access to various places for lunch or evening meal options. There are also several trail walks / runs up to Shirley Heights. The trails were ideal for me as a keen runner, so if trail walking is your thing, this would give you a good daily walk. It is lumpy but can also be in the shade of the trees, but stunning views.
With only 29 rooms getting a lounger around the pool is never a problem, nor on the private beach. A very relaxing place despite the loud music on Sunday and Thursday from the Shirley Heights BBQ's that you can hear, but a small compromise for its positive location for everything else. We were told other resorts are somewhat isolated and you become beholden to the often larger resort.
All staff were excellent. I won't mention names as they are all so good and they all genuinely get to know you as a guest.
We stayed during race week and enjoyed watching the sail boats pass the resort every day whilst we sat reading our books. There are also some great viewing points from trails up to Shirley Heights also.
We will certainly be returning.

I didn’t use the spa (I’m too old for spas!)
Hi, and thank you for keep coming back at The Inn.
So sorry for the Slimline Tonic, we have just checked with our supplier and once again it says is out of stock. However rest assured that on your next visit we will have your favorite tonic, in fact we will purchase Slimline Tonic from the supermarket by the end of the day and it will be available at our bars.
Looking forward to seeing you back at The Inn.
Kind regards
Fabio
