Magnificent old hotel with fantastic views and walks in the grounds. Bedrooms fairly basic but clean and comfortable. Excellent buffet breakfast. Staff very friendly. Quiet location in beautiful countryside but within a few miles of Hadrian wall bus useful to park up. Used for large tour parties, but equally accommodating solo travellers

Came here with a Coach Party for 3 nights , it's a lovely hotel, set in its own grounds. Our Room was lovely and Spacious it was a twin room on the ground floor (H 5) as I came with my elderly mother, we had a lovely view over the hills and we could see the village. The food was... More

We called in and the lady said that their was wifi in the room so we drove to the spa (about 9miles away). We arrived at about 6pm and had a long day so just wanted to relax in our room and plan the next few days of our trip but that wasn't possible because only the lounge had wifi.... More

I've stayed at this hotel before, so my expectations weren't particularly high. The rooms I'd had before were always OK, but nothing special. The hotel desperately needs an upgrade, both in terms of the room decor and the endless, Shining-like corridors (I started saying RED RUM, RED RUM, but my partner elbowed me in the ribs). However, this time we... More

I want to write a balanced review as hotel has many great attributes. The location is fantastic, great views and walks, ideal for those who want to explore hadrians wall, lovely friendly... More

We have just got back from this hotel, which we stayed in as part of a coach trip. The hotel is in a beautiful, peaceful location with well kept grounds and lovely views. If you get a room on the front you get the views, but mine was on the inside (the hotel is built in a sort of hollow... More

A group of us travelled with Plimbly travel, had a lovey journey down, wonderful countryside. Hotel and rooms very clean . Food is fantastic, the meat just melts in the mouth. Breakfast is buffet style with excellent choices. Staff very helpful and courteous. Unfortunately like most hotels the drinks are a little over priced. One pound fifty five for a... More

This place seems to be much frequented by old people on coach trips and it seems to serve them well - it doesn't meet the requirements of younger travellers so well. It's a good base for exploring Hadrian's Wall, a nice building with great views from the front. Rooms are in a square, ours were looking inside so no view... More
