We have so far stayed in over ten different campsites all round Turkey and this was by far the best in terms of its facilities. The showers and toilets are luxury, spotlessly clean with endless hot water. The staff were extremely friendly, and the manager even visited us to welcome us after we hAd settled in. The site in nice, not too noisy considering it is near a main highway. Security is good, a guard checked site through the night. Price was a little steep at 20 euro but worth it. Swimming pool is clean but its cold now so we did not use it. Well worth it if you want a stop off on the way to or from Ankara. Im giving 4 rather than 5 because even though there was free wifi, it is extremely slow and keeps cutting out. Other than that, great!
Don't let your first impressions fool you! We arrived at this "luxury" hotel and were impressed right away with the comfort and design of the room. Sadly, we'd later come to regret staying here and, honestly, would have preferred to have been in a tent out back by the lake. The window in the room was open when we arrived and, unbeknownst to us, the screen had a very large hole in it. Fast forward several hours to bedtime and we found ourselves contending with at least a dozen mosquitoes. When we finally realized the screen was broken, and shut the window, we then found the air conditioner couldn't cool the room (not even set to 18 C and on Turbo). We then spent the night laying in a pool of sweat, swatting mosquitoes all night long. It is now 3 days later and I have bug bites all over my body. The next morning, on checkout, I politely voiced my displeasure. The staff couldn't have cared less, going so far as to say, "we are near a lake, what do you expect?" She then blamed me for opening the window. "You should have known better," she said. I told her the window was open when we arrived and it wasn't for me to anticipate a hole-filled screen in a "luxury" hotel. The manager came over, shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Not only did they make no effort to "make it right," but didn't even apologize. We paid 145 lira for a night's stay and did not even get 1 hour worth of sleep. Never stay here!…
This hotel has a new camping area with a new amenity block. Free wifi. Paved flat sites and use of the hotel's swimming pool. A great spot to stay to visit Ankara or on the way to Cappadocia. Very close to the main road but the camping is down behind the hotel so noise not a problem.
Everything was great in this hotel. It's a bit old decorated but "smells" luxury. Rooms are big and clean and the view to the lake is magnificent. Restaurant has great food and there is also a big outdoor swimming pool. There is a camping ground in from of the pool also.
We had to stop in Ankara for 6 days to get our visa's for the Stan's and stayed in a tent as it was the only camping ground in Ankara. We also had our bikes. Free WiFi and good facilities. In the peak season may not be so good as the camping area was bit small. They speak good english and the eateries and shops in Golbasi were excellent. No public transport. It suited us also as it being on the main highway just went out the front and turned south.
