The hotel is beautiful and beautifully maintained . Staff are helpful and engaging . The dinner was excellent . A real palace of a place ! Quiet , grand , and situated in wonderful surroundings and gardens . It would be hard to fault anything about this hotel !
We are lucky enough to have had our second stay in this super hotel, much delayed by Covid. The building is beautiful and the service & staff excellent. The location high in the Northern Portuguese hills is wonderful and the area provides superb views at every turn. I would like to think we could go again. The main restaurant is expensive, but the food is inspired. bar food is great.
This is a wonderful, top class hotel. Beautiful grounds, fabulous golf course attached, lovely spa … and a really top notch restaurant to boot. We spent three nights as part of a golfing holiday here - and loved every minute. Nothing was too much trouble for the very attentive staff. Would really recommend taking time to enjoy the restaurant which is set in the beautiful old ball room in the hotel … and really does stand up to the reputation of some of the best cooking in Portugal.
Great stay, nice and quiet place. Staff was very helpful and polite. Food was exelent. golf course was really good and different holes - overall good layout of the course. Spa was really good. We loved the junior suite. We will surely come back.
It's not cheap, but the experience is worth it. Everything is fantastic from the hotel itself to the attentive staff on arrival to the huge and beautiful grounds and golf course. The spa area is also really, really good.
Amazing experience, from start to finish. The level os attention is impeccable. Me and my wife went on our 16th anniversary and we were not disappointed! The hotel is beautiful, services and perfect and the restaurants offer a great selection of the best foods. So, this was a real experience and we will definitely go back.
What a treat to stay at this property! The check-in staff were super helpful, and our junior suite couldn't have been more perfect: gorgeous bathroom, comfortable bed, big closets, and lots of light (with great curtains to block the light in the morning!). Breakfast was a fabulous buffet, and the two dinners we had were very good: the Wine Cellar and the main ballroom (which looks like it's out of a movie). They definitely have the best bar menu we saw in our 18 days in Iberia, and the bar/lounge is so comfortably elegant you won't want to leave. Incredible scenery nearby for biking and presumably hiking. We only stayed two nights, but depending on your plans, 3 would be ideal.
We stayed at Vidago Palace for 2 nights and we had such an amazing experience! Our room was amazing, very spacious and beautifully decorated . The hotel surroundings are just perfect for a walk with beautiful flowers and trees everywhere. I really enjoyed the lake area, very peaceful and calm. The swimming pool area was great, very spacious and clean. We got a massage at the spa and we loved it. Staff was professional and kind. We had all of our meals at the hotel, and we got in love with the decoration of Salão Nobre. Food was delicious, very well prepared and presented for every single dish. We got the change to try the thermal water with some amazing properties. Our stay here was just perfect and I highly recommend this hotel for relaxing holiday.
We had a truly amazing and relaxing stay at Vidago Palace. The property features a beautiful palace of luxury within spectacular scenic and historical scenery. The interior of the hotel is elegant and classically authentic; high ornate ceilings, varnished wood panels and flooring, a sweeping double sided staircase and some of the most beautiful wallpapers you will ever see in an Hotel. With such a legacy of wellness and that supply of precious iron rich mineral water still bubbling up from the spring, the spa is obviously one of the highlights of this 5 star hotel and the perfect getaway for those seeking a peaceful and relaxed experience in the Portuguese countryside. The Vidago Palace Hotel is an unforgetable destination for anyone keen to find a five star luxury retreat away from the usual tourist hubs of Portugal.…
Stayed at this hotel a few years ago and the service was fantastic, stayed now and things have gone down specially in the small details which makes or breaks good 5 star hotels. A few examples: Went down for breakfast, which is included in the room and asked for a porridge and was told I would have to pay extra because it was not on the buffet. Asked for an omelette, but was also said would have to pay extra because only scrambled eggs were included in the buffet. I have never seen this in a 5 star hotel… Rooms are already in need of maintenance as we could smell the unpleasant odour of the water pipes in the room. Last but not the least, having booked the room for 3 nights just one day before the first night, I then asked to reduce to two nights, but was told that was not possible because I had already committed to 3 nights so would have to pay 100% cancellation fee. They didn’t even care to ask what was the reason I needed to cancel the third night, but just cared to charge me in full. This has to do with management style and short term view. The hotel gained a few more euros on me, but lost a client.…
