Detailed Reviews
Spent 10 nights in the top floor apartment with balcony directly on man o war beach. The apartment is charming and has a lovely homely feel. One double bedroom at the front overlooking the sea, and a twin behind.
There is a small kitchen with microwave, fridge freezer, cooker but unless you have transport or stop off en route to stock up on supplies you will struggle to find much to cook locally (loads of fresh fish though!)
Small basic bathroom but always plenty of hot water. Apartment is tidied daily with sheets/towels changed regularly.
Wifi access was awesome! Permanent access and fast downloads.
The downside of staying at cholson is the noise.... Mostly from the many roosters which roam freely around the village. The noise from around 3am every half an hour or so takes some getting used to. Also if you are unfortunate enough to be staying at the same time as the preachers then be prepared for the sermons
It's also quite pricey compared to other accommodation but as always you pay for the central location

My first thought when I walked in to the 1st floor apartment was "wow"! I couldn't get over how lovely and charming it was. It took a minute to realise we had the whole 3 bedroom place to ourselves. The view over the bay is amazing, its literally 3 short steps from the beach. The place reminds me of an old English railway station house or signal box, its all wood, painted green and white with dark stained wood floors. Its old but absolutely spotless, the owner was born here and really cares! The 2 ladies who we saw were so friendly and welcoming. The best bit was the enclosed veranda over looking the bay. We had a most memorable evening sitting and watching the fishermen and pelicans. The view is even good after dark, all the lights twinkling from the boats and hillside houses. Very good value for money too. It reminded us of the beach place in the film Betty Blue.
We cooked one night and found the kitchen to be very well stocked for apliances. Also I loved the fact I could pick herbs from the garden to use in our food.

We stayed 2 nights in studio which had no glass in windows. We were not offered mozzie net but got one on request. No WiFi and village internet connection not working so had to go to Speyside. Contact for booking via email received slow replies. Chalet is in good location opposite beach. Staff friendly but not always there. Very clean.

Charlotteville is a charming location and definitely worth visiting. We elected to stay at this particular property because we read that it has a nice view of the sea. However, we ended up being accomadated at cottage in which most of the rooms do not have a view of the sea or have windows facing the sea. The front porch has a view of the sea. If you stay here, I would recommend staying in the upstairs rooms which have a substantially better seaview.
We were especially disappointed because the staff had said that it had a good seaview when we had booked it. It was unfortunately not what was advertised and the staff was not very helpful about accommodating a change of rooms or plans.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. The cottage is definitely worth it if you are traveling with a family (which we were not).

We have stayed here twice now and would go back. The chalets are right on the front and are nicely equipped. They are serviced every day. We liked the ground-floor one because we were greeted by all the pasers-by. Our second stay was upstairs, where you are more private and have a very small balcony. Our second visit was a slight disappointment, because the fish catch was poor. However, after the first day we managed to buy a tuna, which lasted several meals!

Cholson chalets are set at one end of this lovely bay, cross the small road and you are in the sea, or you can watch the fishing boats coming and going. idyllic? well nearly.
The front chalets are a traditionally built Tobagoan house, a timber frame with planking nailed to the outside, and a corrugated iron roof. There is no air conditioning, but a constant breeze and ceiling/wall fans keep you cool, though it takes a short while to acclimatise. Fittings are basic but clean, bed and bed linen clean and fresh and was changed mid week. The apartment we had could do with a sofa/easy chair as the existing chairs are a bit on the hard side.
You can either swim from outside the property , or walk round to the mainly deserted Pirate bay, in fact you can swim round there in a few minutes, I would advise a snorkel to enjoy the reef on your way round.
Charlotteville is a sleepy fishing village set on a sweeping palm fringed bay, a few mini-marts for your basic provisions, and of course fresh fish. A couple of restaurants the other end of the bay and one bar about 20yrds from the chalet. And here is the rub. The bar has recently been taken over and the new owner thinks that playing loud music from midday to midnight is a wonderful way of getting customers though there never seemed to be anyone there. This noise drills through the chalets and unless you are going to bed late stops sleep even with earplugs. Plus on Friday nights there is even louder music with even heavier base that goes on until about 5.00am, this comes from the other end of the bay but still drowns out the bar, and on the Saturday we were there, there seemed to be a car meet where the youths came with their sound systems to compete as to who has the loudest and heaviest base, which literally shook the building. I believe this is not regular.
Cholson chalets would be close to simple bliss if it were not for the noise, and I regret I would not stay there again unless the noise had abated.
On the plus side I had no problem with mozzies, perhaps they can't stand the noise either.

My partner and I stayed for a weekend in the small apartment fronting the beach road - five steps from the beach - our friends visited for a day and we all liked it so much we booked the larger cottage for a group stay a couple of weekends later. Great location, historic fishermen's cottages lovingly maintained in their original condition.

We stayed in one of the two bedroom apartments downstairs. Pretty and spacious apartment right at the waterfront. Very good beds and well equipped kitchen.
Like mentioned by reviewers before: do bring earplugs cause there is a lot of noise from the street!
Despite the streetnoise defjnately recommended!

We had a great stay at the chalets. Charlotteville is small and walkable and the various markets provided everything we needed. There is even an ATM in the village, it is selective in the cards that it takes but it is great to have access to cash as no one takes credit cards. The fishermen come in a few meters away from the chalets, and there are great walks over to Pirates Bay, and to the fort. We liked the chalets so much that we will return for 10 days over Christmas.

Our family stayed in the upstairs chalet on the beachfront and loved the balcony, sunsets, beautiful design which maximised air-flow, and lovely staff - Pat and Salome. Chalotteville is a terrific fishing village but takes a while for new visitors to get used to eg which places are open and when they do food. we stayed a week, made many friends once we got to know people, had great trips with boat owner Mark (Expect D Unexpected), loved the food at the various places on the beachfront road (try the rotis), with great snorkelling too - you can make your way from just outside the chalet right around the cove to the stunning Pirate's Bay.
