We spent a Saturday night in this lovely hotel situated in the centre of a completely unspoiled Spanish pueblo, 20 minutes drive from the spectacular town of Ronda. We had a beautiful room with magnificent views across the village to the thousands of chestnut trees that grow in the vales around Cartajima. Our hosts were most welcoming, books abound everywhere... A beautiful quiet area of the beaten track. Lovely location, comfortable room. Gorgeous decor. Food choices are limited so come prepared. Roof terrace ideal for catching the sun. Di will cook for you if you order in advance. Few things to do in the local area including a wine tour, bird watching and well signposted walking trails. You definitely need... More

Thank you, Irene, for your lovely review! Glad you enjoyed your short stay in Cartajima and I hope the arrangements we helped you with in Morocco worked out well for you. I am grateful for the chance to clarify the eating opportunities in Cartajima as recent guests have been confused! There are two bars in Cartajima serving tapas, raciones, etc.... More

What a place! Both the pueblo and the hotel are well worth seeking out... The latter is welcoming & tranquil with cool stylish interiors - we were greeted by Di after a long hot drive with an icy drink of our choice and offered a beautiful room overlooking the village and the hills beyond. Magnificent views from the rooftop terrace... More

A perfect setting & a beautiful, boutique hotel. Set in a picture postcard small village with magnificent views. Friendly locals with a lovely, not to mention cheap, poolside bar near by. Quirky yet homely, authentic Andalusian but modern. Very comfortable rooms & lovely home cooked food. All this and Rhonda only 15 minutes away. Highly recommended.

We arrived after a very rewarding and tiring tour at a local organic winery, just in time for a cool glass of wine and afternoon siesta. Refreshed we headed out to the terrace before dinner. Di is an excellent cook with a Spanish/Moroccan inspired dinner in a beautiful location. Breakfast again was excellent after a good nights sleep we were... More

I just had to write a review to remind travellers of this amazing hotel in Cartijima, one of the beautiful pueblo blancas in the Andalucian mountains. We have just returned from a fantastic family holiday. The hotel is a beautiful building, furnished to a high standard with all the creature comforts you could possibly need - aircon, ensuite, mini-bar and... More

Not one for writing reviews, however having found this little gem of a hotel to stay at during our family holiday to Andalucia during July 16 I thought I ought to mention it. From the moment you arrive and Di and John welcome you through their key hole door you know you're in for a special treat. It really is... More

The village of Cartijima is among the most beautiful we've seen in the Genal Valley. It sits at the top of the mountain, but unlike some of the other villages, the road there is in fact quite manageable. Once you get there, you are rewarded for having going a bit further afield. The views from the hotel and village seem... More

Los Castanos is tucked away in a white village in the mountains south of Ronda. Views from our room, overlooking picturesque rooftops to mountains beyond, were one highlight of our stay. Di and John are welcoming and entertaining hosts. Di's cooking is quite superb, we relished two four course meals, prepared with skill and imagination, using delicious, fresh, local ingredients.... I planned a brief escape from the UK following the death of my wife. Plans were disrupted when all my luggage was stolen on the way to the hotel having stopped for lunch. Do not try to report crime on a Sunday afternoon in Spain. I made my way to the hotel feeling somewhat frazzled. Check-in did not take long... More

Just six kilometres off the tourist trail to Ronda is a valley with stunning mountain scenery and eagles soaring overhead. You are heading for Cartajima, one of the most traditional of the famous Andalucian pueblos blancos, white mountain villages. Following our driving directions, you arrive outside the great chestnut doors of Los Castanos behind which there is quality accommodation, personal, informal atmosphere, local wines and great home-cooked food. Relax in your spacious bedroom with its enormous bed, soft sheets and fantastic mountain views. Stretch out on a lounger on the rooftop terrace, savor your wine and melt into the mountains.
