We had a fabulous stay at Hotel Los Castaños. We were looking for a base off the beaten tourist track from which to explore Andalucia and the Pueblos Blancos. Los Castaños was the perfect spot - right in the centre of the small Pueblo Blanco Cartajima. The Hotel grounds are beautiful having been restored by owner Di - it felt...

We had a very relaxing time, walking through villages, eating delicious homemade food and sampling the local wine and gin! The owners couldn't be more helpful in the lead up to our visit and during our stay. After 4 nights without our children, combined with the peace and quiet of the hotel we came back rested and relaxed!

The welcome is warm-hearted and the surroundings offers comfort and calm. The food is delicious; prettily served but not too "cheffy". The wines are well chosen. The views are spectacular and there is plenty of manageable walking on offer. The village is tiny and feels remote, though it is definitely a community, but a short journey takes you to well-known...

We have just enjoyed our second stay at Los Castanos and I want to go back, for ever. It is a wonderful place to stay. A beautiful small hotel, hosted by Di and John. They are so friendly, sociable, welcoming and discreet. You can interact with them when you want to, and have your own space if you prefer. A...

Looking for a hotel near Ronda we wondered off the beaten path and stumbled into a paradise. Situated a short ride up the mountains near Ronda, this cozy inn is a jewel. We contacted the owner to let her know when we would arrive and even offered helpful information about our Ronda trip. There are many walking nature activities highlighted...

We stayed here after our visit to Ronda. Lovely hotel in a small white town. Rooms were large and well appointed. Hosts could not have been lovelier or more helpful. Sat around the fire with a glass of wine before a fabulous dinner was served. The porch up stairs on the roof is an oasis. Bring a book and enjoy...

Amazing mountain views in a lovely hotel. We only stayed one night, but it was wonderful to escape the bustle of bigger cities. We had a fantastic hike in the mountains, followed by a truly spectacular meal cooked by our wonderful host, Di!

The Christmas break at the Hotel Los Castanos, was a delightful experience for my wife and I. A well appointed, bijou hotel with an individual character located in the heart of the Spanish “white village” of Cartajima. Having enjoyed staying in various hotels over many years I have no hesitation in saying Los Castanos is unique and outstanding. Di and...

I have finally got round to providing the excellent review the Lost Costanos deserves (we went late August) what a beautiful location, so different from our previous frequent ‘sea, sand & pool’ experiences in Spain which we have enjoyed with kids and grandkids. we have reviewed this in the context of a middle aged couple looking for a budget priced...

Thank you for your review. So glad Los Castanos provided a good change from the beach. For our readers information, we are about 45 minutes from the nearest beach on the Costa del Sol. Best wishes.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Just six kilometres off the tourist trail to Ronda is a valley with stunning mountain scenery and eagles soaring overhead. You are heading for Cartajima, one of the most traditional of the famous Andalucian pueblos blancos, white mountain villages. Following our driving directions, you arrive outside the great chestnut doors of Los Castanos behind which there is quality accommodation, personal, informal atmosphere, local wines and great home-cooked food. Relax in your spacious bedroom with its enormous bed, soft sheets and fantastic mountain views. Stretch out on a lounger on the rooftop terrace, savor your wine and melt into the mountains. This must be the most perfect getaway, a totally indulgent mountain village hotel in a completely unexpected location. ... more   less
