Great place to go to relax in the spa, relax and dine. The spa has many saunas and relaxation facilities, the rooms are beautifully updated, large and clean. The meals in the restaurant are reasonably priced and very tasty

We really enjoyed our stay in the hotel. We were happy that the spa was not very crowded in the mornings and we could enjoy some privacy there. Breakfast was good (standard hotel buffet). Dinner in Wagenküll restaurant was excellent and totally worth the price! The only downside was that our room smelled a little bit musty (opening the window fixed that) and we could have used an AC because it happened to be a really hot day.

We arrived on Saturday when the house was quite busy, and there were a lot of cars. The hotel personnel told us where NOT to park, but not where TO park.
The hotel rooms are old-fashioned (manor) style, however ours was a bit too small for excellent impression.
We had a meeting at night and so the dinner was pre-ordered but very good nonetheless.
Next morning there was a power black-out, so the breakfast was "not as usual", which upset us a little. But the personnel behaved quite arrogantly saying that we must be lucky to get even what we got.
Also, I find the price (119 € for the simplest room) a bit high.
Disclaimer: as we did not use the spa, I cannot tell anything about it, so the review relates only to the accommodation.

Liked. The food in the restaurant was really good so was the service. The spa was cute and cozy. The suite had a lovely fireplace.
Disliked · The room we stayed in - the suite in the main castle - was located next to the restaurant, so the room smelled like food, so were smelling all of our clothes and belongings. The restaurants toilet was located next to our room and it was really uncomfortable to listen people use it as we thought we would have privacy within the suite and a nice quiet vacay. It was also really weird to walk to the spa with our robes on trough the whole restaurant while others were dining and we were all red from the sauna. The bathroom in the suite had see trough curtains. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, so were the sheets and pillows. The bed had 2 small blankets. As well the breakfast did not have any gluten free or lactose free options. The staff of the castle were agreeing with us about the room, but could not even offer a discount after a really disappointing stay. Honestly after this I won't never want to come back.

Besides the suite interior and amenities, this is a regular 3 star hotel. Many things that are nice about this place, but are either poorly managed or just not paid attention to. The suites in the castle have very little to none sound proofing. I'm sure the staff is aware of that, but it's just not managed. We were put in the room right next to a family with small kids and all we could hear is the kids scream. Was woken up at 8am also by their kids screaming, because it sounded like they were right by our room door. Spa is very nice and has good amenities but it is way too small for the amount of guests that are staying there; plus the Spa is accessible also by non-hotel guests. Therefore it gets extremely cramped and not enjoyable. Staff doesn't strike as the most welcoming people either. Breakfast is very mediocre. What comes to the restaurant, it's quite ok for such a remote area, however the prices in a-la-carté are too high for such a remote area. Basically menu prices are the same as in Tallinn, but the quality and presentation of the food, of course, is lower. Another thing that didn't make good impression was dirty curtains:) They had yellow stains all over and it was the first thing I saw, which made me think if everything else is so poorly cleaned as the curtains:) Overall I'd say the experience is not worth the value paid.

I have visited Wagenküll several times and this is one of the most beaufiful quiet spas in Estonia. Beautiful historical castle with a nice little spa area. Very cozy place with friendly staff. An ideal place for couple’s getaway, but I don’t recommend for family/kids vacation. Guests highly value the quiet and relaxing trip back to history and also the castle rooms walls are pretty thin. However, there is an extra building, a new hotel connected to the main castle with underground tunnel.

We stayed at the panorama suite, it was super nice.
Loved the spa. Because we stayed there middle of the week, the spa was really quiet and felt super private. Loved the saunas and outdoor swimming pool.
I Recommend getting a spa treatment, massage was so lovely, relaxing.
10 points for the service also. Receptionist was nice and friendly.
The kitchen made a super delicious vegan dinner for us. Thank you chef 😊
Defenitly visiting again 😊

Pleasant area, interesting building, nice little garden, but price and quality are not in balance. Restaurant gave rather positive impression - nice and friendly waiter, swift service, excellent food. Try their "pasta nero" - delicious! Rooms - for the ones, who still remember soviet time, this gives an impression of an outdated russian establishment, which has been attempted to convert into a boutique hotel, but with no great success - corridors, rooms, materials, smell - jut not what You would expect at that price level. Curtains have spots, carpets are worn out, bathrooms badly lit, restaurant windows nor cleaned at least for a year etc etc. Luckily we did not rent a room with balcony - those were empty boxes with no furniture - we saw guests sitting on the floors and trying to accomodate theirselves. The "Alice in Wonderland" installation in the gardens with plastic trees left also mixed feelings - good initiative trying to make the place more attractive, but overall gave a strange inconsistent "wannabe Disneyland" impression. We did not visit the spa, so not opinions to share. All in all, take a walk in the garden, check out the building, have dinnner, but rather stay somewhere else. For half the price, may be acceptable for some, but not for premium price they are charging.

The room was well furnished, the restaurant and breakfast were good, but the hospitality and friendliness at reception could be improved, it was non-existent. The staff in the restaurant, on the other hand, were very helpful and friendly. The prices, especially for drinks, are excessive. Extractor fans from the kitchen and the loud generator at 6:00 a.m. to generate electricity have significantly reduced the quality of the rooms. There is no way they are deluxe, the so-called bar, which is largely underground, is cramped and overcrowded and does not contribute to the feeling of well-being.

Castle SPA Wagenküll is located in a small village, which makes it a hidden gem.
Decor really makes you feel different.
Give a visit to the Castle tower, it's free and open 24/7!
We booked a Deluxe room from Castle. Really nice small details made us feel very comfortable and think about history of this place.
Minibar (small fridge), widescreen TV, toiletteries, bathrob, slippers (not for spa!), tea- and coffee set and much more. Beds were comfortable. Wifi area could be improved.
SPA is very nicely decorated and fits there very well. Different saunas, places to relax, Japanese bath etc. Visiting a smoked sauna is a must, it's very unique.
There is also a small bar from where you can buy drinks and cocktails.
Take your own flip-flops from home or buy from reception!
Restaurant - New York steak was dry and not so tasty as it should be. Fish was OK, but not worth the money. Kind of pricy place and food is definetly not worth the money. Service was very friendly and professional.
Buffet breakfast was delicious and lot's of different options. Everything I chose, tasted very good. Extra points for the good coffee!
Overall experience 5/5 and highly recommended.
