A Devon break had to include The Horn of Plenty especially as friends lived nearby. The 'Waitrose' offer also convinced us to stay and overall we were not disappointed. 'Upgraded' to a courtyard room was a welcome surprise - it was well furnished, clean and comfortable but a little cold at times, especially the large bathroom which only had a small radiator and a heated towel rail. The Afternoon Tea as part of the offer was enjoyable as the restaurant offers fantastic views over the Tamar Valley. We enjoyed Monday night dinner although thought Tuesday night was alot better ( perhaps the Chef has Mondays off?) Breakfast on both mornings was delightful with a high standard of food an service. So overall nearly 5 stars and we would return

We stayed this week, and it was utterly divine! if ever a hotelier wanted to learn about excellent customer service, or a chef on how to produce a perfect dish time every time, then come here for the ultimate lesson. The country house is unspoilt and one can just imagine being a guest in a private country manor. It was so easy to imagine how the original families lived there pre-hotel time, as it has so many original features and spaces; no-one has tried to cram extra rooms in to make more money. They had a small wedding on at the same time we were there and not once did we feel neglected or rushed. The attention to detail, the staff on hand were second to none. My husband has to have a particular diet and they consulted him at every meal, advising on best things to have and they even knew about, and served, fodmap diets. We've never stayed anywhere that has been so perfect in every way. It deserved a five start plus. Thank you, we'll be back.

We booked to have a Sunday Lunch here for five family members. Everything was a good as we had hoped for... charming reception on arrival, drinks in the Anteroom, a nice selection of little tasters,(muse bouche), with our drinks and then in to the delightful Dining Room to find the place busy and a lovely atmosphere. The service was excellent through all our time there and they had prepared the Sunday Lunch in a cover to acknowledge the family booking... a very nice touch! The Sunday Lunch menu is a choice of two courses for £21, or three courses for £26. A choice of three Starters, four Main Courses and three Desserts. The presentation was excellent with attractive dishes throughout. A little 'Chefs Special' of a Mushroom Taster was offered before the Main Course. I chose the Salt Cod Mousse with Pea and Quail egg.... delicious!! Next course was classic Roast Beef, with Onion, carrots and fondant potatoes. All very attractive and very tasty. A totally delicious Banana Parfait with Dark Chocolate for Dessert before coffee and some tasty 'Sweets'. This was a super day, in a lovely setting and The Horn of Plenty lives up t its reputation as a pretty special place to enjoy a fine meal,

The whole experience was everything we’d dreamed of. We don’t have a bad word to say. We had a perfect day! All of our guests loved it. Beautiful location, really special food and the wedding team were always happy to help. They even catered for a few requests we had even though it wasn’t what they’d usually do. Shirna deserves a special mention for all her help. Thank you all at The Horn Of Plenty
