From the gorgeous scenery, to the delightful and unique rooms, to the staff that treats you as a member of their family the second you check in; there is no overstating how amazing this place is. The restaurant serves some of the best authentic Thai food I’ve had out here, and the view while dining is one to truly admire.
I called in to Tharn Thong with 4 friends yesterday. We placed our food and drinks order in Thai and English and waited 20 minutes. A group near us arrived and placed their order in Chinese with a Chinese speaking waiter. We continued waiting for our food. Some 2o minutes later the Chinese order was delivered. Ours wasn't. So we waited a few more minutes then cancelled and went elsewhere to eat. NEVER AGAIN.
We had a wonderful overnight at Tharnthorn Lodge. We were in Chiang Mai for a month and wanted to get out of the city for a while. The grounds are stunning and it was so refreshing to get out of the noise of the city. We stayed in Baan Rim Tarn (3) - it was the best room there I think. We looked at several before choosing that one. It has a beautiful deck right over the river, another seating area, a fire pit and a screen porch! It has a comfortable king size bed and a couple of couches so maybe would be ok for three people. It was totally relaxing - the sound of the rushing water can't be beat. There was a refrigerator too - we wish we would have brought our own drinks at least, but we didn't know. There is a restaurant and the food is fine. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We spent several hours just walking around the grounds and looking at all the beautiful flowers and the bunnies! They have a lot of bunnies - I'm not sure why. I'm hoping they don't eat them! There are also tropical birds flying around. As another reviewer mentioned, there is a caged monkey which is very sad. I'd love to know why they keep a monkey. We took a truck up to the waterfalls from there and stopped in Mae Kampong to look around. All in all, a lovely place to go for a nature fix!…
We were staying with friends in Chiang Mai and they suggested driving out here for lunch. It is just a stunning setting and the food was fantastic. A little pricey compared to some other places we ate on our trip but for the setting it was worth it. After lunch we took a walk through the beautiful gardens. The only downside, and the reason I have given it four stars and not five, is because in the grounds is a very sad looking monkey in a cage.
We booked 2 days before going to stay at this place, We got our own house with very special river in front of our house, Very beautiful ! Every almost perfect until you need to protect your self from a lot of mosquito. and its a bit uncomfortable when you feel moist all the night coz (a lot of hole on the wall) feel like a lot of moss can growth on your body
