We stayed in order to visit the Addo Elephant National Park. Figtree is situated high on the Zuurberg Pass, a fairly long and very bumpy ride from the main road close to the park. Built in colonial style, accommodation is in comfortable semi- and detached cottages with stupendous views over the Zuurberg mountains. A good breakfast is included and, at... More

Dear Tony, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us, and complimenting our staff and the stunning views and location. We are working with the local municipality regarding the Zuurberg Pass, so that should improve, however we do recommend our guests enjoy a slow drive up admiring the stunning views around them. We do hope to... More

This was a real treat, the staff were excellent and all facilities were above average. The dinner around the camp fire in the boma was very special and the service and food was outstanding. Will definitely visit again. The location of this place is a rare find and will blow your mind.

Camp Figtree is probably the best place I have stayed on my trip to South Africa. The location, the staff and the excellent running of the place is just first class. It's set high on a mountain above the Addo Elephant Park, with gorgeous views of the valley below. Food is very good. There are lots of areas to relax... More

Once you get here, via 13 kms of untarmaced road, the views are simply amazing. Our "superior" room was really comfortable and we weren't at all inconvenienced by the periodic electricity outages. Hot water was delivered to our room for an early morning cup of tea. The staff were all briliant and nothing was too much trouble. The food was... More

This is in a stunning location and we arrived up the slightly daunting track early (albeit in a Polo). The staff weren't phased and our room was put to the top of the list, allowing us time for a welcome drink. We walked on the wooden walkways, were stunned by the views, and had a great impromptu lunch. Then a... More

Camp Figtree is a flashback to the old colonial days with large suites or lodges high in the hills about an hour and a half north of Port Elizabeth. Best views of the trip, so quiet and peaceful. No fridge, fan,or air con but total relaxation and great swimming pool. This is perfect after 3-4 hours bumping down the track and... More

This place was perfect! The staff was friendly, the food was incredible, and the views were even better! If you are planning to visit Addo Elephant Park this is the place to stay. Be aware that the drive is slightly treacherous but completely worth it!

Quite a long way to the hotel, but its worth it. Best meals are served outside looking out over miles of tree covered (or mist in the early morning) valleys. Forget your plush 5star opulence in fancy anonymous hotels; this was more intimate and much more interesting. You could have been in some tea station in India or in the... More

We stayed here with another couple for 3 nights as part of a touring holiday in SA organised by Audley Travel.
