Our honeymoon had to be special so we flew from Denmark to the other part of the world to visit the Cook Islands. We chose Magic Reef because of the reviews and it was worth all the stars. The rooms, the pool and most of all the service. We had the feeling that the crew would bend their backs for us and they greeted us by name on the first day. Is it weird to miss them? Watch your step. There are some stones in the sea but you'll manage. We traveled from Denmark to the Cook Islands which takes around 30 hours and it was worth it. You should go as well.
Our week at the Magic Reef was truly magical. So much here to enjoy. Friendly helpful staff - Thank you Lawrence and Jane. Spacious comfortable bungalows, with the water only steps away. A refreshing pool. Tidy well tended grounds. Curious and mellow cats, dogs and chickens roaming around adding to the charm. Colorful sunsets. Electric cars available for rent - a super way to get around the island. Convenient location for popping into town, exploring the south coast, or walking to several nearby dining spots. We loved our stay and hope to return.
We stayed at Magic Reef, bungalow 1, for a week and experienced the magic of sleeping to the sound of the surf, walking the beach to go to happy hour, spectacular sunsets, watching the hermit crabs, seeing a night sky full of stars and rainbows in the early morning after a rain. It was heavenly - just the place to decompress and recharge your batteries. The owners and staff are friendly, helpful and just nice to be around. The only thing I can think of to suggest is maybe having a few basic staples on hand for purchase; like snacks, beverages, bread, etc.. If you don't rent a car or scooter, there is no convenience store close by to walk to and stock the kitchenette. But honestly, I have never stayed anywhere that fit my idea of perfection as much as this place does.
This is a fantastic tropical paradise. The bungalows are spacious, clean and very comfortable -- and right on the beach. But what makes it truly special are the people who run it. Lawrence (owner) and Gill (GM) could not have been nicer and hospitable. They offered many great suggestions and even invited us to happy hour! Cannot recommend highly enough.
It’s so hard to pick a place to stay as there is a huge choice here. But we struck lucky here. We we picked up from the airport and whisked to the bungalows which are large and comfortable with an outdoor shower complete with eco bath accessories. And with a great view of the sea. No need for air con as cool breezes allow you to sleep with the sound of the sea too. There was a lovely fruit plate in the fridge plus meusli and toast for breakfast. Owner Lawrence and manager Jill are friendly and super helpful. We enjoyed hiring an electric car and are in awe of their green accomplishments for energy and water capture. Captain the cat was good company too. This is a truly relaxing and fabulous place to rest and and enjoy the Cook Islands. Wish we could have stayed longer. Strongly recommend. …
