We didn't really know what to initially expect from Ometepe, so we decided to stay in Moyogalpa for five nights. The Landing Hotel was a great base for island excursions. The place was quiet, calm and clean. The staff were really helpful too👌
We were one of a few guests staying in the hostel at this time of the year. The owner of the Mexican restaurant told us that people used to beg to stay there as it was fully booked out a couple of years ago. I felt bad that the tourism of Nicaragua is suffering, but this also meant that it was a very relaxing stay for us and we had the whole dorm to ourselves. The man at reception (don’t know his name) was always very friendly and considerate. He referred us to a scooter rental (Green Expeditions) who were very good as well. The hostel had plenty of places to relax, and a nice upstairs terrace with hammocks to watch the sunset. Definitely recommend this place based on location (1 minute walk from the ferry) and close proximity to services you may need e.g. restaurants, ATMs, scooter rental, ferry, supermarket…
It's important to keep in mind that infrastructure in the island is very basic. Having said that this is a good option. Good location, well kept, clean and very friendly and helpful staff. Do not hesitate in doing all the tours with Lazaro who is in the tourist office at the entrance of the hostel. Enjoy the island it's beautiful!
i rented the private cabana here with great a/c, wifi and clean comfortable room, but what made it special were the wonderful staff, so thanks again for everything. great recommendations for bike rental and places to visit, made my all too short visit the best it could possibly be.
The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful in whatever we needed, and we got a better room than we had paid for. The common areas are beautiful and peaceful. On our second day on the island, we realized we didn't have enough local currency, and we couldn't change at the bank. The receptionist helped us find a solution. The hotel has an info center with bike rental, so we felt safe renting a scooter there, as we had read about another place that cheated the customers. We will make a video about our stay on the island, for our channel. /Aiko & Bjorn
The name is really quite fitting as this place is found 1 minutes walk from the ferry landing. It is a great place that offers free water, coffee and fruit. The staff are very friendly and sociable and the rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel is almost empty and if that is something that you like then this is a perfect quiet spot for you.
Still staying here but this place was so easy to find and is very chill. The room, my room anyway, is clean and catches a small but appreciated breeze. The garden is a peaceful and cool. There is desayuno típico very near. The supermarket is a short few blocks away. They helped me arrange a quad to rent that I spent the day on, seeing quite a bit of the island. The Landing is more than just a convenient location.
The Landing Hotel is a great place to start your exploration of Ometepe Island. It's located right near the ferry stop. I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with the hospitable receptionist Shelby, and the cleaning staff Anita and Ligia! I was only there for two nights. I wish I could have stayed on the island longer! I stayed in one of the very reasonably-priced dormitory rooms on a bunk. One thing I really liked was the upstairs lounge area, which had some workout equipment: a pull-up/dip bar and some free-weights. This was the only hostel I stayed at in Nicaragua that had anything like that. It was a nice surprise because I had been feeling a bit out of shape. While exploring the island on a rented scooter, several miles down the main road I ran across the Shelby the receptionist who was hanging out in front of his house. He offered to show me around the island. He hopped on the scooter and we rode around and had a good time visiting a few places, while he practiced his English and I practiced my Spanish. I'd definitely stay there again.…
We immediately received an incredibly warm welcome to the hostel by the owners, and they checked us in 5 hours earlier than their normal check in time. The location is perfect and they were extremely helpful in finding us motorbikes to rent and guides for a volcano trek. Would highly recommend this place.
Literally 30 metres from the dock, so you don't have far to walk when you arrive. The private rooms are concrete and actual buildings so there's a very low chance of being disturbed by bugs. Good distance to restaurants and the supermarket and the staff are very amenable. There's also some fantastic common areas to sit, drink and be merry.
