across the street from an obscenely loud disco. If you want sleep look elsewhere. Budget price, but dirt cheap gets you cheap dirt.Good location; did not try the food. Nice cats and staff could learn from the friendly parrot.
A friend and I hadn't booked anything and walked past this hotelito. It looked reasonable so we asked how much for a private room with air conditioning. They told us $10 which was more than reasonable. We dropped our bags off and went exploring. We came back to the room to find that there was no AC and the light to the bathroom didnt work. The owner tried to get us to pay $15 more for air conditioning and kept pushing motorcycle rentals and their own restaurant on us. Overall, it wasn't very clean and the owner was not very welcoming. I would never recommend this place to another traveller.
We stopped in here for breakfast and to look around. Awesome food, friendly, family run place, with beautiful lounge with lots of plants! the rooms were well kept and they offered all-in services: tours, scooter/motorcycle rentals, lots of pamphlets, and a little gift shop! Located centrally in downtown Moyagulpa (not busy or loud at night), this is the ideal launching off point, within a few blocks of the Moyagulpa ferry's!
If you're looking for cheap accommodation, a private room with a private bath, in Moyogalpa, then this place does its job. The room was very basic but not really well kept. The bed wasn't very comfortable & the pillows were extremely thin. The bathroom was also a little dirty & the shower knob/faucet was very difficult to turn. It also gets really hot in the room, and though there's a fan, it's still hot. There are no screens on the windows so I couldn't leave them open since bugs & mosquitoes would just come in...and I've already had plenty of bug bites! In the bathroom, there's really no "window", i.e. there are no glass panes or screens, just a set of bars. So at night, I kept the bathroom door closed/locked from the outside to prevent all sorts of bugs from flying into the bedroom. My room was upstairs and at least there's a balcony with a view of Volcan Concepcion. I sometimes just sat up on the balcony as there was a good breeze up there. As for the staff, this is a family run hostel - the old lady that checked me in usually acknowledged me when I greeted her; the man, however, couldn't be bothered. The most I really spoke to the staff was when I was asked to pay the night before my check out. Location is a plus as it's on the main road, close to the port, bank/ATM, restaurants, & scooter/bike rental stands. Again, for the price, it does its job.…
Yassem took good care of us during our stay. We rented scooters one day and shared a motorcycle the second. He was very accommodating and provided good information. The rooms were sparse but nothing uncommon for the area. We paid 20USD for a private room w bath. Close to everything in Moyogalpa. Had a decent breakfast there one morning. Coffee was instant though.
I heard numerous rental horror stories on Ometepe but this place was great. The scooters weren't in great condition but I was treated well and charged a very fair price when I popped one of the tires. The owner gave me his cell number upon rental and was easily contacted when I needed assistance. I had to pay to get the bike back to Moyogalpa but the owner organized the transport. For a hole in the tube and tire, I was only charged 30 cordoba. The management was reliable and helpful. I would recommend this place highly for scooter rental.
My friends and I enjoyed our five night stay at Aly. The staff was super friendly and helpful. A smaller size room and bathroom but cheap price. Clean and safe room, as well as good food and super convenient location! Comfy beds with minimal street noise.
We've had our fair share of scams with renting motorbikes, (especially in Thailand ) but this is a great and honest place to rent! Nice owners. Also breakfasts here are good value. Don't know about the rooms. When you rent a simple scooter here, be aware of the fact that only road from Moyogalpa to santa Cruz and Altagracia is paved. We tried to go to waterfall San Ramon, but we made a turn half way because the road is just dirt and rocks. With a cross motor you'll be fine though.
Stayed 3 places on the island. This was the cheapest, and you get what you pay for. If you plan to stay a lot in your room and relax, I do not recommend this place. Was not very clean, and a bit run down. If you just need a place to sleep, this will do just fine! The place is cheap, and has a very good location, only a few minutes from the dock and many restaurants. It is also possible to rent motorbikes for 15 usd, which is a great way to explore the island. We tried this, and the staff was very flexible when it came to renting the bikes to us. On the downside, the staff didnt exactly give us a heartwarming welcome, and the especially the bathroom was a bit dirty. Did not try the food, as the hotel seemed a bit dirty, which also could apear to be the case of the dining area
We rented a scooter at Hotelito Aly for two days. The price was much better than in any of the other places we asked. The stuff was friendly and provided us with useful information about how to get to places (also with map) and when. There is a petrol station opposite to the hotel. We also grab lunch there. The food was good and the service quick. Again, fairly good price if compared with other places in Moyogalpa.
