After an enjoyable day at the coast with friends & full if fresh air, we all looked forward to an evening meal at the Fox & Hounds, on our way home. And we were not disappointed. Reception warmly welcomed us and seated us in the lounge, brought us drinks & menus The choice was sooo tempting, it was difficult to... More

We booked for 6 of us for a table in the bar . We went before 6:30 so had the early doors menu which suited everyone . The staff were very attentive and even though the pub was very busy didn't have long to wait for our meal . The meal was enjoyed by us all and will definitely be... More

We met some friends here for lunch last week. It's a lovely pub in a lovely part of the country. The food was wonderful and the service efficient but friendly. Highly recommended. I had the sea trout which was delicious, the others had fish pie and salmon which was equally good. The puddings were great too

While staying for a week in a self catering cottage in the village of Normanby a short distance from Sinnington we decided to have lunch in the bar on Friday of last week. We had such an enjoyable meal and found all the staff so friendly and welcoming that we decided to book for Sunday lunch just a few days... More

I visited the Fox and Hounds with my family and dog last week on the last day of our holiday. We visit North Yorkshire each year as we have family and friends who live in the area. We arrived at the pub for lunch to be greeted by a friendly female member of staff. Unfortunately the mood turned sour, when... More

We visited on a Saturday evening for a family meal. We had booked and our initial welcome was pleasant and encouraging . Staff were friendly and efficient however the restaurant has absolutely no atmosphere and although we had phoned and asked to sit in the bar we were told that was not possible so we sat in a large room... We stayed for a night and had the Dinner, Bed & Breakfast option at £150 for two. This was excellent value. The cooking at dinner was exemplary It was the best meal I've eaten in a very long time. The breakfasts were also very good. The room was quaint in a traditional country pub sort of way. The bed could... More

Hi there Joanne and myself visited the Fox and Hounds on the first night of a long weekend break. Now I could go on about how succulent the rump steak was that Jo had, or how tender the belly pork was that I was lucky to receive. I could, I could get all flowery and high brow, but that would... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This attractive 18th-Century former coaching inn in one of the prettiest villages in North Yorkshire offers a warm welcome the minute you arrive. A little loop road just off the A170 Helmsley to Pickering road on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, Sinnington has everything a classic English village should; a maypole, a village green, a 12th century church and ducks feeding on the beck that gently winds its way through the village. There are pretty riverside and woodland walks nearby. Its cosy bar, open fire and hanging hops deliver a rustic and relaxing atmosphere. There's also a contemporary restaurant that boasts oak tables and attractive lighting - ideal for those looking for that slightly more intimate affair. But wherever you choose to sit, you can be assured of a delicious meal. This is a destination for people who enjoy good food cooked well. The three chefs source many of their ingredients locally, making the most of the area's fine meats and fish and home grown vegetables and herbs. The meat is supplied by BW & DJ Glaves of Brompton by Sawdon, Scarborough and all the fish is delivered daily from the east coast. The inn has an AA rosette awarded for culinary excellence which has been maintained for the past 15 years. Typical dishes such as a twice baked Lincolnshire poacher cheese souffle and a platter of fish cakes, little fish and chips, king scallop, salmon and aspargus salad are popular throughout the year. Other options include a Roast breast and leg of Guinea Fowl, sage crushed potato, asparagus and oyster mushroom cream or confit Duck Leg, chorizo, roast pepper and pea risotto, orange and watercress salad. Chefs specials are also offered for both lunch and dinner. Lighter lunches and an early evening supper menu are also offered daily such as a chargrilled minute steak, fries, pepper sauce and salad or onion rings or roast belly pork and black pudding, chive mash, apple sauce and crackling .All puddings are homemade and if you're struggling to decide what to choose, there is an assiette of puddings that has a little bit of everything - puddings change on a daily basis.Fresh bread is baked every morning and the chefs like to try different ingredients for evening dinners complimentary bread and olive. Flavours have included parmesan and chive or chorizo and sun dried tomato. Sundays bring traditional roasts with a range of different options - including beef, pork and lamb served with a Yorkshire Pudding and also a fish and a vegetarian dish. Accommodation is available all year round, and has been awarded 4 Stars from the English Tourism Council. ... more   less
