Visited Tranquil during the long Independence Day weekend, August 2016. After frantically looking for a getaway out of Bangalore, luckily Tranquil Resort happened to come my way through a friends suggestion. As luck would have it, they had one room available. The garden room! After a lovely drive from Bangalore and an early checkin to the resort, what transpired over... More

We have our own little Amazonia at Tranquil Resorts, nestled in a private coffee and spices plantation, within the remote and lush rainforest of Wayanad, in northern Kerala. The access to the Resort can be by a comfortable drive from either Bangalore or Calicut. Once you reach Sultan Bathery, look for Kolagappara -Ambalavayil Road and you hit the 400 acred... More

This review is a long pending one! I visited Wayanad in April 2014 with my husband and we spent 2 nights and 3 days at Tranquil. We booked the tree house and it was worth every penny spent! It is an experienced in itself and everyone should try it once. From outside it looks like any other tree house but... More

Stayed here for three nights. Our plan was to visit some nearby attractions, but we fell in love with the place, the owners and the dogs that we did not care to go anywhere else. The place is uniquely set up as a home stay, you can mingle with the guests and the owners, either at the mess or around... More

Stayed here last week with the family. Lovely property, good hosts, great conversations with fellow travellers. Food was homely, though little steep for the variety it offered. We had some really good local cuisine at the Wilton hotel in Sultan Battery at much cheaper rates.Well marked trails, huge room and clean pool in which our daughter had a great time.... More

This was a honeymoon gift and what a treat it was! We stayed in 2 different rooms, deluxe and treehouse, both are superb with their own charm. Deluxe, very spacious and comfortable and tree house, well, the name says it all, a room nested in the trees! Very clean and superb homemade food. The hosts eat the same food which... More

Saw the Serenetree tree house online and knew we had to stay! This is a beautiful home stay with warm and welcoming hosts. The accommodation was very comfortable, with nice touches like proper coffee in the room, and felt like something of an oasis. We had one minor panic (of our own doing!) and Ajay handled it calmly and efficiently,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"RELIVE THE LIFE OF YESTERDAY"S PLANTER" Tucked away in the middle of a green expanse that makes up the 400 acre Coffee & Spices plantation of Kuppamudi Estate, is the stand alone home stay "Tranquil". The hideaway is a sprawling, fully refurbished planter's bungalow with an old world charm. A large annexe attached to the bungalow houses the guestrooms which have been subtly furnished to reflect the colonial past. The genesis of Tranquil was to offer discerning guests an opportunity to relive the life of yesterday's planters, in the exclusivity of a private estate. Your hosts, Victor & Ranjini Dey have lived the planter's life for 40 years and the homestay was started in 2000. They are now ably assisted by their son-in-law & daughter, Ajay & Nisha Mathulla. Tranquil' s uniqueness lies in the ambience created to make guests feel that they are at the home of a friend. To quote a guest's comment in the visitor's Book - "It is rare to cross the border from seclusion to inclusion - you have achieved that with grace and style." Much of the experience of Tranquil is to enjoy its serene unpolluted surrounds - be it lazing around the pool, lounging in a hammock, walking around the beautiful tropical garden, or venturing out on the numerous well marked out walking trails, with the excitement of seeing the Malabar hornbill - one of the 125 species of birds identified till date. The walks range in elevation from 2600 to 3500 Ft above MSL, the toughest being the "Braveheart Walk" which winds its way through the coffee fields to the very top of the hill to "lookout Rock", which offers spectacular views of the Wayanad. Being a working plantation, guest have the opportunity of joining Ajay for a plantation tour, during which you realize the efforts put into getting you that cup of coffee. After you get back, a relaxing therapeutic Ayurvedic massage is available for those who require it. Meal time at Tranquil is full of bonhomie with the family joining the guest for all meals. There are 4 large dining tables and guests intermingle, and conversation flows. The buffet table - a long single plank of Mango Wood measuring around 20 ft - is laden with food, ranging from continental to ethnic cuisine. The guest rooms - Deluxe, Suite and Standard - are very well appointed and one cannot help but notice the attention to detail, from the toiletries provided, right down to magazines in the bathrooms. Needless to say, housekeeping is impeccable. TRANQUILITREE - TREEHOUSE Nestled under the beauty of a Gul Mohr Tree, the structure rests on three trees, the largest of which is a Gul Mohr (Poinciana Regina). At a height of 45 ft from the ground level and overlooking a valley facing north, the entire structure measures 517 sq.ft, comprising of a bedroom, bathroom and verandah. Hot water is on tap , as also all other modern amenities, including a fridge & electronic safe. Adequate light and ventilation has been provided with insect screens on all openings. Approach is from an inclined gangway with railings, ensuring easy access for even the elderly. "TranquiliTree" is a stone's throw from the main house and is connected by intercom. Back up generator power has also been provided. SERENETREE - TREEVILLA The TreeVilla is 1080 sq.ft bedroom with a double bed and 02 single beds and a dressing area. It features 02 bathrooms - one with a panoramic view. The verandahs are 8 feet wide and offer beautiful views of the plantation. The TreeVilla features a TV, DVD, Satellite receiver, Tea/Coffee maker, electronic safe and is connected to electric main line. It is child friendly. Victor and Ranjini Dey have been married for 42 years, all of which have been spent on various plantations. They have always been house proud and have, over the years, had the unique opportunity of renovating / rebuilding 3 dilapidated plantation houses for their present employer, Aswati Plantations Ltd., with whom they been for 36 years. Being a hospitable and gregarious couple, the transition from Planters to Hoteliers came naturally. Ajay and Nisha also have a plantation background having worked in a large corporation for 8 years, and were employed by Aswati Plantations Ltd. for their new ventures in hospitality. AWARDS & RECOGNITION 1. Awarded the Best Approved Home Stay by the Kerala Tourism Department for three consecutive years - 2003 / 2004 / 2005. 2.
