Hankø Hotell og Spa has a fantastic location on the island of Hankø, only a few minutes by ferry from the mainland. The hotel is a five minute walk from the port, but offers free transport from the port for those guests who do not want to walk or have a lot of luggage.

The guest rooms are somewhat worn and simply furnished with an armchair, desk, flat screen TV and telephone. There is no minibar and there is no air conditioning in the room. The beds are of a good standard but not luxurious. The bathroom is also somewhat worn and simply decorated. It is only dispenser soap.

The hotel's common area is decorated with various historical objects and appears rustic and pleasant. However, the lighting in some parts of the hotel could have been somewhat better.

The hotel's pool area appeared to be somewhat worn and outdated. The bathing water was also cold.

Breakfast was served as a buffet and had a good selection of both hot and cold dishes. However, the undersigned missed bacon and somewhat more focus on locally produced dishes and specialties. This had helped to lift the overall impression.

The staff seemed somewhat reserved and I missed smiles and service comments and some more interest in me as a guest. The level of service was perceived as somewhat unstable and the employees a bit disorganized and insecure. Overall a very nice stay and I would happily recommend the hotel to other travelers.

Cozy and rural place. We were met by very pleasant boat drivers who, on their own initiative, gave us good information about both tour options and good recommendations about food at Seilerkroa.
Fantastic food and incredibly service minded waiters, especially Eva at Seilerkroa.

Good beds. Very cozy breakfast lounge and the breakfast had a good selection. It was a service-oriented operator who stood up as best she could.

Nice receptionist Mike who was very welcoming and nice.

What drags it down is some musty smell in the entrance area and reception and a bit of messy cleaning in the room. The furniture on the ball king was very dirty and there was a lot of bird droppings on the railing.

Boring that the pool and sauna close at 7pm already.

Christmas table. Lots of good food and drinks. Great entertainment with good music. Good drinks in the bar made by friendly and funny people.
Cosy room with balcony, overlooking the beautiful dungeons.
Nice bed.
Nice breakfast.
Great service with being picked up on the ferry and driven down again the next day.
Great location with nice hiking trails from the hotel.
M.a.o. a lot of positive. Meeeeen, there are unfortunately some negative points too;
*In the bed there were 2 pillows, one so large and solid that it was uncomfortable to lie on and the other so small that you could need 2.
* we were 2 in the room but only one bathrobe, although both were in the pool. One because only one had ordered a spa.
* the hair dryer did not work.
* an ertestor amount with soap both when washing and in the shower. It's a bit small when washing your hair. And no balm.
* and only 1 key to the room.
* only eggs for breakfast. Asked if they had cooked eggs, the waitress was to ask the chef. I asked for a “smiley” egg, 6 min cooked. It was obviously difficult, so I got 2 hard boiled instead. But thank you for trying.
* we were several who missed jam.

Very good that you tried to use up the food from the day before instead of throwing it away.
But don't despair, I'll be back.
Thanks for me :)

We were there for work. There was a lot of surr upon arrival. The seminar room was not prepared and washed and the technique did not work. During my stay, because of my colleagues I had to constantly tell you that the staff should fill up mes of coffee and fill up with toilet paper on the toilets.

The cleanliness of the rooms was below what one should expect. The first room I was assigned was not cleaned. I got a new room. It was OK, but under the bed it was very dirty, and on the porch there were beer boxes.

The supply of gluten-free food was poor and there was poor labelling of allergens on both breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet. They advertised minigolf on their websites, but they only have five clubs.

The staff are nice and welcoming and the location and the place is amazing. The site has a lot of potential, but it's a bit sad to see that they don't get it.

Hankø has a beautiful location and absolutely worth a visit, but not the hotel. This hotel is old and poor quality - bathroom really need a renovation and all the rooms need a bit more sound proofing. You can here everything. Bad food in the restaurant both days, except for breakfast. Receptionist could`nt understand the Norwegian language very well, and was over all stressed out and not very nice. Restaurant staff probably did the best they could, but they seem to lack both motivation and knowledge as well, service is not the top priority at this hotel. We won`t go back there again.

Clean room and nice location. Pool was cold.

The meal at the restaurant was expensive and very poor quality. First, they had only one set menu with no options, not so great on an island where you can't easily go anywhere.

The menu was lukewarm soup with small dry bits of fish, dry turkey with a tasteless sauce, and ice cream with ice crystals (we took one bite and left the rest). Worst meal of the year. I actually complained, which I rarely have to do at restaurant in Norway. They gave us a whopping 10% off. I will never be back.

A fantastic experience. Was there in connection with my sister's wedding party, and do not regret for a second that the choice fell on this hotel.

The receptionist Tuan did his best to make us feel welcome. Although we arrived late on Friday evening, he picked us up at the quay in a private "bus". We started our stay by eating at the sailors' tavern, here they served delicious food and Anita (waiter/receptionist) welcomed us warmly with her good mood!

The nature experiences were not long in coming either. I took a walk early Saturday morning at sunrise, and saw around 10-15 deer/stag (?) and a hare right below the playground by the hotel. Like taken out of a movie!

The receptionists Mike and Tuan did their best to make us feel comfortable! Felt like VIP guests. Thank you very much!

All in all, an incredibly good experience. Didn't get to test the spa, but I will next time! Will definitely come back.

Recommended!

Will add that the drivers were very pleasant. Especially the trønder! Inspiring and enjoyable :)

Two wonderful days on Hankø,
The staff are welcoming and provide top service. The meals were top notch.. 3 course dinner with exciting scampi starter, main course with perfectly cooked vegetables and juicy meat, in a newly renovated dining room.
We were 15 friends who traveled together and it was unanimous that this was 6 stars! First class!
Small extra appreciation to the waiters Alexis and Marita who both have the ability to see, be attentive and not least cheerful and positive. Good luck with further work to both of them.

There were long walks both along the lake, through and in the forest and beyond the rocky mountains. We used the grill at Trouville for a packed lunch and there several people threw themselves into the sea.
The bathing stairs at the rock were very slippery and the handrail could have been a bit longer for us over 60.😂 but it went well.

We will again try to gather the gang, and come back to the hotel's sumptuous shellfish or Christmas table.
This was a great experience, which tempts to repeat.

Very nice classic hotel. Only positive things to say about the staff. Recommended!
What a location!
You are transported out on a pleasant holiday trip in 3 minutes and meet a car-free island. Red deer roam freely there, which you can meet if you're lucky. A classic hotel you just have to experience!

Entered the room after being given the key. The first impression was ok. Was going to use the toilet, couldn't flush. Started the shower, noticed that the water pressure was very poor. While I was standing in the shower there was an extreme sewage smell! When evening came and I went to bed, the mattress topper was like a tile. You felt the spring in the mattress right through. Didn't get any sleep the night I slept there... so the room gets the worst rating from my side. One expected more in a 4 star hotel!

In general, the restaurant and outside area were very nice.

Hi Sorry for Our late response. I do not fully understand Your question. We do have transportation on the island, from the Ferry an up to the hotel (about 500 m), but we do not offer transportation from the city and back. We can be helpful With ordering taxi. Hope this answer Your question. Best regards Alexander

You cannot bring a car to Hankö. There are no cars on the island. Park the car, and take the ferry over. The sound you cross is just 200 meters. I can’t remember what the fee for the ferry is, but it won’t break your budget. Probably 50 NOK max
