It's nearly 2 AM as I write this, and the party is still going strong at the Tyrifjord Hotel. Since I can't sleep, I thought I would warn others about this establishment. It apparently does brisk business for weddings, and consequently it can be extremely loud. It values this business more than that from travelers seeking a good night's sleep,...

Dear Madam/Sir, we are extremely sorry that you had a bad nights sleep during your recent stay with us. We understand that the loud music referred to came from an outdoor concert in the village of Vikersund (part of an annual fayre), a mere 300 - 400 yards across the lake from the hotel - the music was loud, and...

We had a very nice stay in the end of May. Beautiful surroundings. Some parts of the hotel are a bit dated, and the path down to the lovely seafront was not very charming. I would definately go back!!

I stayed at this hotel after a short trip in the montains on my birthday. We had very little expectation of the place but it turned out to be really nice. We got a nice room facing the fjord, it was a sunny afternoon and we had our dinner outside in the sun until the sunset at around 10.30. The...

Even though the average age was a little high on some of the departments the hotel was very nice. I was here fore a two-day conference and was very surprised how good the conference rooms was since this is an old hotel. Easy to find, but it was a little tricky to find the rooms since they don't follow the...

Went there for a short conference and enjoyed it. Especially the food. They had very nice food and big servings. Would go back for sure. Side trip was climbing Vikersundbakken! 1089 stairs. Go for it!

Good old Norwegian traditional food served in an upgraded hotel beautifully surrounded by the fjord. Everything was of high quality standard, nice and quiet. Only comment is that for the price you pay its a shame they provide tiny, washed out towels for the shower and the hair dryer didn't work in my room.

We had a family birthday celebration lunch with about 15 people. Both kids and adults found plenty to enjoy in the buffet and many were particularly happy to find sushi and maki pieces. The selection of desserts was unusually diverse. Our waiter was quick and friendly. We didn't stay at the hotel, so I can't say anything about the rooms.
