Fjærland Fjordstove Hotell is a small white wood hotel built in 1937. The building was originally a guest house and were in the 80's rebuilt with bathrooms in each room. There are 15 small rooms. Some rooms have views of the fjord and some towards the mountain. There is no television in rooms or common areas. Each room has a bathroom built in the 80s with a toilet, sink and shower. All windows have shades if you should feel the night too light. On weekends, Fjærland Fjordstove Hotell is used by the locals as a meeting place. Which means it can be a little noise here when the discussion picks up over a beer or 2. As a guest at the hotel you are welcome to attend. At Fjærland Fjordstue Hotell you will experience great food and drinks, and welcoming hosts. We are committed to offering food that is healthy, tasty, and reasonably priced. Most our food is provided by local farmers. Let us know if you want to experience how they are operating their farms. You are welcome to visit their farm. We produce our own local beer called Fjærlands øl. It can be purchased in the reception. We import our own wine from Bordeaux. Internet is available and free.

I cannot say enough about this charming and wonderful hotel. The front desk staff was so accommodating, the food was world class and I am a foodie!! They would literally catch fish, forage mushrooms and use their garden for meals. It was just so amazing! Jules is the chef and Nicolas is his twin brother who serves and explains the courses. They are a treasure! Bard, the owner, is just a fabulous host and his night talks before dinner cannot be missed! I will never forget this wonderful place!!!!

A wonderful 2 night stay in September. I can't recommend Fjordstove enough as a base for a visit to Sognefjord. The historic hotel is beautiful, cozy but with plenty of common area to sit and read with unfettered views of two glaciers set along the fjord. First and foremost the location is pristine with wonderful hikes nearby. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the food was superb starting with breakfast. The hotel takes dinner seriously and it showed. If the standard 3 course set menu is too much food for people, they offer the flexibility to choose just a starter or just a main. This customization something that other top-rated historic hotels and guesthouses in the area don't necessarily do. I can't wait to be back, this time perhaps earlier in the summer to make sure I was able to experience Fjaerland with more sun and less rain.

Everything about this hotel was absolutely perfect. The staff were incredibly helpful and thoughtful and attuned to travelers' needs, everything was appointed immaculately, the food was exceptional, and the area and environs breathtaking. Would absolutely go back and recommend to everyone. P.S. Room 228 has a divan so if you're traveling with a friend, one person can take the double bed and the other sleep on the divan.

We stayed here for two nights, would have stayed for a third. The location is perfect - no cruise ships docking here, at the end of a fjord, gateway to the glaciers, quiet hikes. Rooms have lovely views, but are quirky in arrangement simply because the building is old. The bathrooms are small and have their eccentricities but again - the owner Bard, has taken great pain to renovate this building without losing its integrity. Staff did tell us renovations are coming over the fall. Stock up at the local supermarket which is a minute's walk away for your day excursions. We came by ferry but would have liked to have a car to increase our flexibility on things to do. Either way, its a great way to enjoy the calm nature of Norway away from most tourists. The hotel has e-bikes (only 2) - so would recommend they get more. Kayaking is available at an extra cost from the hotel. Other guests used the small boat as well. The town is also part of the International Book Town network which is very charming. At the end of the day, the lounge is a lovely relaxing area - outdoors or indoors. Without a car, you do have to eat dinner at the hotel as there is nowhere else - and its pricey as is everything else in Norway. The staff are very helpful and friendly - shout out to the lady at the reception who introduced us to Nicholas, the French hospitality student who runs the dinner service.

We stayed here for one night on our road trip around Norway. Our room was quite small for three. Our bed was in an alcove. To get to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I had to crawl over my husband! The setting was beautiful. The dinner was very good, but not fantastic given the price. The breakfast was very good. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was raining when we were there, so we could not use the boats. If you are in the area. I do recommend this place.
