Visitors can pick between exquisite, traditional rooms and tents, all of which are designed to be comfortable. At night, the camp also has a fire where guests can unwind and listen to the melancholy songs of the dunes. In addition, the camp provides a mystical sunset, astronomy, and exclusive dinners for amorous couples. Located near stunning dunes, Thousand Nights Camp captivates many guests with its exceptional location. Its unique desert amenities, like stargazing and camel rides, are highlights, though some visitors mention organizational shortcomings. The campsite is lauded for its cleanliness and the staff's attentive service. However, opinions are mixed regarding the atmosphere and room quality, with some citing a magical experience while others are put off by construction and basic accommodations. Additionally, several travelers question the value for the price paid.

Our huge Emir room had its own private plunge pool. A more basic room would have been suitable but we erred on the side of having a good bathroom. All very clean and comfortable. Staff at all levels were very professional. Our included dinner buffet was very pleasing and the breakfast buffet was also appreciated. No alcohol is served.
The Camp is in a very picturesque location and on dusk, the local sand dunes glow. Our private driver then took us up to an even more beautiful dune location for the sunset. We were there on a local weekend so there were too many locals in their 4WDs noisily dune bashing; which is not really in keeping with the Camp’s otherwise ambience. Litter everywhere too outside of the Camp which greatly detracted from the venues environment.

We left Muscat on a Friday morning and reached Bidiya (Shell Petrol Pump) at around noon and got to the camp site with the help of an independent escort by the name of Mr. Salem Wahibi. He was extremely professional and lead us through the desert to the camp safely. Once we reached, the hotel staff were quick to check us in and took us to our rooms. We booked 2 Sheikh Deluxe Tents which were really well kept and traditional. They had all the necessary amenities such as a kettle for tea/coffee, complimentary waters, shower heater, shampoo and soap, A/C and a balcony with 2 chairs.
The dinner buffet was good and had a variety of Arabic, Indian and Continental food. The breakfast buffet had a lovely spread as well.
After dinner, there was a camp fire which was helpful as it was a chilly evening.
Overall, the stay was pleasant and the staff were extremely nice. It's a lovely place to visit for an overnight (luxurious) desert camp!

Well I’d say it’s a nice experience, nice food at dinner and not bad breakfast. The tent was clean enough, bathroom ok, only bad thing, no hot water. All the rest is ok, sunset, sunrise, stars etc. Other thing that I didn’t like is that they ask you what other activities you want to do like dune bashing, riding camels etc etc there’s a long list available, I mean the accommodation is quite expensive, so they could give away something else like riding a camel or even the transportation from the filling station to the camp, we paid 40 omr, which is about 90 euros, cause we didn’t have a 4x4, and it’s better not to risk to get stuck driving 40 km in the desert with a normal car

I am Vegan and apparently the first vegan they have had at the Camp. Chef Mayanand was amazing - he came to me before every meal and planned the meals with me. I ate like a queen the whole stay. And I had as much food as I could eat. Chef Mayanand is a very sophisticated cook, with great experience and his food was absolutely delicious, tasty and nutritious. Thanks so much for making this visit the best!

The location of the camp is brilliant, and our accommodation was very comfortable. Sunset and sunrise over the dunes are really magical and this is a special place.

I don’t know if it had not been reopened long since the pandemic but I felt the service let it down a bit. At dinner, staff provided a bottle of water but then they were very rude when I asked for another 2 small bottles to take to the room (there is obviously no shop for miles, so the camp do need to provide water to guests). Breakfast and dinner were not great for vegetarians (the vegetable rice at dinner had lots of meat in it), and staff were keen to clear plates before guests had finished eating. It felt like the staff had been told to make sure guests didn’t eat too much - and it made for an uncomfortable atmosphere. This is understandable at big hotels with the kind of buffets where people take advantage, but here, where it’s very small scale and simple, it felt unnecessary to make people feel bad for having two glasses of juice for example. The staff were also very rude and unwelcoming to our guide who was with us.

There is a fire pit and before the pandemic I think there used to be music evenings. Now, this has stopped - but hopefully it’ll resume in the future as I’m sure this would make the evenings feel a lot friendlier.

We had a super night here. The drive into the desert and watching the sun go down and seeing the stars provided unforgettable memories. Good food and accommodation. They are in the middle of an upgrade programme and need to sort hot water, given the luxury experience they advertise. But that is a relatively small point.

A night in the desert was to be the highlight of my 3 day weekend showing my visiting wife the best that Oman has to offer. It did not disappoint. Many have said it is easy to find, but if you are travelling solo in your own vehicle for the first time, best to find someone to guide you through the desert. The accommodations were fantastic (stayed in the deluxe tent), the setting beautiful (the sunset is not to be missed), the food amazing; the open air restaurant (dinner and breakfast) offers an excellent mix of authentic dishes and other options to please all who are hungry. Only comment was that the staff were slow to restock the buffet options. Truly a once in a lifetime experience.

This was a great desert experience. We had a 4WD and were used to driving on sand, so we enjoyed following our guide, Ali, for 40km through the desert. He took no discernible roads and a couple of dunes on the way, and we passed several Bedouin with camels. Our Sheikh tent was a surprise, very spacious and comfortable. Hot on arrival, but the A/C soon cooled it down. The external bathroom was fine, no hot water but it's not cold of course!
We were particularly pleased we stayed 2 nights. Most people stayed only one, and large groups had all gone by 9am. We then had the place to ourselves till 4. The pool was lovely and we went off on a short drive ourselves based on advice from the front desk. To be alone, surrounded by the dunes, was really special. At sunset both days we followed guides up the dunes in our vehicle and had great views. The first day it was very windy at the top..take a scarf to avoid your face being sand blasted!
The buffet breakfasts and dinners were very good, plenty of choice, especially considering the remote location. All staff were friendly and helpful and we had an interesting chat with the manager. Stargazing at night, with minimal light pollution, was wonderful. I hope we return one day
