Well kept fully serviced pitch with plenty of space around. Very quiet with immaculate toilets and showers, very covid aware with sanitiser and paper towels and notices to wear a mask Beautiful barn restaurant with delicious food. Lots of walks around the site and lake. Well lit at night and very secure. A place we would be very happy to return to. Friendly owner and staff.

Booked and payed for 11 nights on a fully serviced pitch, left after 8 nights having received a part serviced pitch. Due to the sites policy of picking your own pitch and late departures you take whatever is available. We arrived at the site then had to walk around in the rain to decide where to go with the limited space available. The choice was heavily rutted or sloping! Picked the flattest pitch and got set up. Didn't noticed that the grey waste was running uphill until the shower backed up. Went to the reception said to the owner I had an issue and was passed on to his No 2. Tried to get some fall on the waste pipe to no avail. No 2`s response "well you chose the pitch" later he accepted we had a problem but just shrugged his shoulders! Phone call to the owner said we could move pitch? None available, then he said he`d never heard of our problem in 20 years of running the site. There are complaints about drains failing to remove waste water going back to 2016. The best part of the site was The Barn used it several times, run by a good crew. On taking the dog along the road outside I noticed a planning request. The Barn and the utility area, showers and toilets have have just had planning refused to convert them into a private dwelling, with no replacements planned. Very disappointed with what could be a good site

Arrived and was allowed to get out and choose a pitch instead of towing van around, chose pitch 18, bit uneven so needed ramp in one side to level van. Only problem was why do site think water will drain uphill? It doesn’t. Walked up to lake and was amazed at the size of a fish I saw someone catch. It’s a quiet site but our pitch was close to the Barn restaurant we did have noise from outside seating, which is understandable, it was the dogs barking and was annoying as their owners didn’t seem to hear them, maybe too much wine!!! Food in Barn restaurant was lovely had the Sunday lunch and the beef was beautifully cooked Cannot comment on showers as didn’t use them, but toilets were clean in restaurant. This is our 3rd visit and we will definitely return Thank you to wardens for keeping the site clean and tidy See you again Sharon and David

Wow what a find, this place is amazing! The wardens are excellent and can’t do enough for you. We received a phone call from one of the wardens a week ago to say there was an issue with our booking and would we like to stay up by the lake! We agreed that would be ok and I have to say it’s beautiful here. The wardens even bought us a drink to say thank you such lovely people! We visited the restaurant whilst we were here and it was lovely the staff are all really friendly and lovely and the food and atmosphere was great too! The only downside it’s we only booked 2 nights here, will definitely be back and will stay longer.

I got a call asking for advance payment. When I stated that the booking stated I could pay on arrival, the gentleman that called said, there were only four people there and if anyone got covid that they would have to close the whole site down, and that I was the only person who had said no to paying in advance. I understand that cashflow may be a problem, but be honest. The person then said, they had asked PitchUP to make changes to their site (which is where I had booked this on) and that they hadn't done that and yet, they haven't made changes to their own website to say that if you book through Pitchup then we will call asking for payment. asking for payment in advance of the terms and conditions and then using COVID as the reason is really not acceptable. I cancelled my booking and going elsewhere. Really surprised and disappointed that site owners think that using veiled threats of closure and activity manipulation is acceptable. It isn't.
