I came to know about this fantastic place from one of my clients. Monchasa is built around the eco-tourism concept and this resort created the old charm of a traditional village in Bengal. There are four cottages and each cottage can accommodate 4 people. Bamboos are primarily used for making the cottages and the good part is, it exactly gives you the exact feel of a rural home. Staffs are homely and are experts at their craft. The food is super great and delicious. They served us a nicely decorated meal during lunch and puffed rice with pakoras in the evening snacks along with tea. Dinner and breakfast were also a traditional Bengali style. All the vegetables and fish items that are served are from their own garden which is there in their backward. I recommend you should visit this place to get away from the urban jungle. The place is not very far and is on the Kolkata Digha highway route.…
Monchasha is a resort developed specially with the vision of a tranquil, ecofriendly living style in a village of Bengal. A lot of architectural and enginnering thoughts has gone in to make the accommodations look and feel like cottages with thatched roofs and wooden frame doors, windows, balconies and floor. But inside all modern amenities are available, except the airconditioner. A winter visit makes that need redundant. The food is delicious and homemade, and the service quality is superb and impeccable. There is parking facility inside. It takes a a while to reach the place, but once you reach, the peaceful ambience is truly comforting.
We arrived monchasha in this year .foods are amazing .typical Bengali food...sweet are also very tasty . The wooden cottage were very nice .cleanliness of bed sheets, pillow cover. This is my best tour in my life
Stayed for a night during Jan 2018 with family & friends Loved the true rural atmosphere and the overall ambiance of the place. Meals with set menu were superb. with great variety & taste. Cottages were huge & though we were only two persons in a cottage, it could have easily accommodated four. However, the cottages suffered from a design flaw by leaving a gap between the bamboo walls and the thatched roof. This allowed the cold air to come in at night & turn the room super cold, and highly uncomfortable even with blankets /quilts. Also, access roads are very poor indeed. Much better rural eco-experience available at Breathing Earth cottages near Usti -Falta- West Bengal.
We visited in monsoon. Place is very average and nothing close to the pics on website. Also it's quite claustrophobic in terms of space as opposite to the feeling one gets when he sees the pics. Food is good, first day lunch was awesome, mutton was good but it was not tender and then they ran out of menu options hence there is not much to say about. Room hygiene and maintenance is a big issue. One can hear clearly what the people in neighbouring rooms are talking about. If anyone plays music in adjoining room then u can clearly hear it. My neighbours kept fighting during their stay and we had to bear with it. Suitable for one day visit. There is a lot of scope for development and the management can definitely do the same I feel.
