I was traveling with two other classmates from 40 years ago - we spent two days at the Golden Spruce Cabins and were very happy in cabin #2. The food prepared by the owner, Patty, was excellent, and offered sufficient choices for us (two of whom are vegetarians). It was a quiet location, Patty was very welcoming, and made us... More

Stayed 2 nights. Cute cabins. Very warm. U have to use outhouse after office closes. Food is good in restaurant. Would stay again. Take a fan if it is warm outside. Cabins get very warm. The owners are great and do there best to accommodate your needs. The area is beautiful. And near river where u can dip for salmon.

The Golden Spruce is great, we were heading to the St. Elias National Park so we stayed in one of their cabins for one night. These are dry cabins but they have electricity and were very cozy. John and Patty have a beautiful log cabin store that he built himself...Incredible! The store is great, they have lots of movies to... More

Stayed here in a cabin for two nights. Right on main road. Very quiet road by the way. Its a dry cabin but has electric. you get use of bathroom in the little restaurant till 9 or 10pm then the outhouse is open 24/7. The floor in outhouse was a bit soft but hey..its an outhouse. We really enjoyed the... More

Everything about this place is great. Patty is the nicest person ever and a darn good cook! The milkshakes are amazing and so are the burgers. My friend and I were on our way to Wrangell St. Elias National Park and it was a longer drive than we thought so we decided to eat and spend the night there. We... More

My parents swear by this place and took us there while we were on our visit heading to Valdez. Patty makes the BEST food! My fiancé tends to be very picky about his burgers, and when asked what his favorite part of the entire trip was, he said, "Patty's Burgers". They have the cutest little store and set up. I... More

My girlfriend and I stayed there on our way to and from Wrangell St Elias National Park. The owner Patty was really really friendly, accommodating, and kind. She tipped us off to the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights one night and that night we got to see an amazing display, one of the high points of the trip.

These must be about the cheapest cabins in this area I suspect coming in at about US$75 for a double and they are pretty good. The cabins themselves are clean and comfortable and have tea and coffee making facilities in them but no bathrooms or toilets. There are a couple of long drop toilets outside near the cabins but up... More

We stayed at Golden Spruce Cabins for two nights with a group of 7 sharing one cabin. The host was very friendly and accomodating. She allowed us to put up a tent next to the cabin for no extra charge. The cabins are in good condition and clean. The little store/restraunt is nice and prices are reasonable. I thought that... I started my search the year before on the internet. So I emailed Patty and got a feel for her place and her opinion. We arrived and found a very nice cabin on the edge of the National Park. Way cheaper than anything in Chitina, Kennicott, McCarthy. But within a reasonable driving distance to Kennicott. Yes, we drove out rental... More
