Each year we return with our hiking club to hike Old Rag Mountain. In previous years we've stayed at Big Meadows, but found this past year it seemed rather tired. This year we chose to stay at Skyland Resort with the assistance of the Group Reservations Department. Helping us with a small room block, we added the Peak View Cabin... More

Resort accepts pets, very clean rooms though somewhat dark and dated. Dining was very good for the most part. Tap room ran out of some selections, which was disappointing. Staff was friendly and helpful.

My husband, 2-year-old son, and I spent three nights here, staying in one of the renovated hotel rooms (one of the Pinnacles rooms right next to the office and restaurant). The room itself was very nice and met all our needs. The resort provided a portable crib for our son. It was very convenient to be able to roll out... More

A stay at Skyland is all about experiencing what is just outside your room - the mountains, the valley, the woods. What is inside your room is comfortable, but is not the focus. This property is designed to highlight what Nature has placed all around you, and it succeeds wonderfully. An attentive staff makes it even easier to focus on... More

Beautiful location. Great food. Only 2 hours from Baltimore or Washington. Like stepping back in time. Very comfortable and friendly. Peaceful. Stress relief. Unbelievable views of the mountains and valley from your room.

Enjoyed our one night stay and I echo many of the recent reviews. Trying to use the intermittent wifi wasted a lot of time but was not crucial to me. But it was to a man sitting next to me who needed to do something for his work. Think the web page should add a warning.

We stayed in a premium king room at the end of the building. As stated by many other reviews, the room was basic. However, it was very clean and updated with a comfortable bed. Plus, we weren't there to hang out in the room. We found the price to be commensurate to many, many other resort destinations we've experienced. If... More

You can't beat the location of this hotel for it's easy access to Skyline Drive. It is just off Skyline Drive with its panoramic views, hiking trails and picnic areas. We stayed in a ground floor traditional room - two queens, in the Appledore building. There was a lovely (slightly blocked by bushes) view from the balcony. The room furnishings... More

The views of the mountains and valleys in Shenandoah park are breathtaking, and were not visible from our room. As others note, the resort or the park service needs to trim the scrub trees surrounding the units and its offices so guests can enjoy the view they paid as much as $200 a night to see. Otherwise, the fee is... More
