Sunset is a great campground one of 4 that we stayed at on out trip. they recently started making it by reservations which is easier bc in the past first come first serve was always a hit or a miss. our camp site was somewhat crowded..there were 2 sites more sites all on one plot but majority of all the... Our family really enjoyed our stay at this campground. We had site 97 which was one of the best sites in our opinion. It was a little off the main loop, and there was a "hidden" picnic table a little ways into the woods where you could eat lunch/dinner and enjoy the view. The sunset from this site was amazing... Brand new cabin with friendly NPS staff to check in. We had a site in the low 100s. It was up on a hill with lots of trees, but still had a flat spot for our tent. Our site had plenty of space and privacy from neighboring sites. The sunset views are terrific and the weather in early July was... More

An inexpensive lodging option when visiting Kings Canyon National Park, and centrally located too. We had site 33, which was not too hilly to pitch a tent, but was in the full brunt of the morning sun, which became hard to manage once the heat wave came later in the week. The campground has exactly what you'd expect: picnic tables,... More

The campground is right in the beginning of the park and features darker spots as well as sunny ones with magnificant views over the valley. Be cautious as to which site you choose. Not all the spots have bear-cages in the shadow; your food might heat up during daytime. For that reason i switched sites, calready after paying. But that was... More

I love this campground , I have been going since I was 9 yrs old. Also, as the years go on the prices go up but still cheapest to camp. There are restrooms, water , trash bins and security . For me , it is the pin point either to drive up to Cedar Grove and to Giant Forest .... More

Awesome camping sites, spacious, many type sites to choose from, including many with an awesome sunset view. Nice clean restroom, showers at the Grant Grove Village. Less than 1/4to the Village, which has shopping, post office, groceries, restaurant, and tourist info and museum. Near the internationally known attraction of a large stand of huge sequoia trees, called Grant Grove; hike... More

Sunset campground is conveniently located to visit both parks. We enjoyed a great day trip to King's Canyon & Boyden Cave on one day, Moro Rock and Giant Forest on the second day and Big Stump/ swimming at Sandy Cove, Hume Lake on the third day. All of which we recommend. I especially appreciated that we could show up without... More

Arrived around 1 PM on July 12th and found Azalea was pretty full so headed over to Sunset. First off we were tent camping, no trailer or RV so I can't speak to that aspect. Azalea seemed like it has few great spots (of course all taken), and the rest were crammed together - NO THANK YOU. Instead, we found... More

After reading reviews from this site I figured I would stay here for a few nights in my most recent visit to Sequioa NP. The location is great (Not too far from the main entrance) and in close proximity to Grant Grove Village. We visited in June 2011 and there were definately bear proof boxes (very large) at each campsite.... More
