On the highest peak of Sunset Campground you can see the Central Valley landscape. Absolutely beautiful. The only concern is that there are small campsites enjoying this view. People such as myself that did not reserve a spot here might appear to be a nuisance to those that did reserve in this beautiful location. So I made it a point... More

Look for the sites with sights of the sunsets! These would be along the west side of the campground and some of them offer exceptional views of the sunsets. These can be very small sites though due to the terrain they are in and the demand for sites with a view We were on the opposite side in #125 and... More

We stayed at site 37 and it has an amazing evening view of the sunset. 37,38, 40, 41 have the best views but 38, 40, and 41 are all really close together so if you aren't camping in a group, it's kind of awkward. 37 was perfect because it was set off by itself a bit. 35 on the other... More

Sunset is a great campground one of 4 that we stayed at on out trip. they recently started making it by reservations which is easier bc in the past first come first serve was always a hit or a miss. our camp site was somewhat crowded..there were 2 sites more sites all on one plot but majority of all the... Our family really enjoyed our stay at this campground. We had site 97 which was one of the best sites in our opinion. It was a little off the main loop, and there was a "hidden" picnic table a little ways into the woods where you could eat lunch/dinner and enjoy the view. The sunset from this site was amazing... Brand new cabin with friendly NPS staff to check in. We had a site in the low 100s. It was up on a hill with lots of trees, but still had a flat spot for our tent. Our site had plenty of space and privacy from neighboring sites. The sunset views are terrific and the weather in early July was... More

An inexpensive lodging option when visiting Kings Canyon National Park, and centrally located too. We had site 33, which was not too hilly to pitch a tent, but was in the full brunt of the morning sun, which became hard to manage once the heat wave came later in the week. The campground has exactly what you'd expect: picnic tables,... More

The campground is right in the beginning of the park and features darker spots as well as sunny ones with magnificant views over the valley. Be cautious as to which site you choose. Not all the spots have bear-cages in the shadow; your food might heat up during daytime. For that reason i switched sites, calready after paying. But that was... More

I love this campground , I have been going since I was 9 yrs old. Also, as the years go on the prices go up but still cheapest to camp. There are restrooms, water , trash bins and security . For me , it is the pin point either to drive up to Cedar Grove and to Giant Forest .... More

Awesome camping sites, spacious, many type sites to choose from, including many with an awesome sunset view. Nice clean restroom, showers at the Grant Grove Village. Less than 1/4to the Village, which has shopping, post office, groceries, restaurant, and tourist info and museum. Near the internationally known attraction of a large stand of huge sequoia trees, called Grant Grove; hike... More
