When going to Far Horizons do not expect a 5-Star camp with luxurious cabins and high end service. This is a camp that was founded with the purpose of creating an atmosphere conducive to spiritual/personal growth. It is a rustic place without internet or electricity, which makes it unique. Not having these overly used luxuries allows people to connect with self, nature and others. Almost every person that works there is a volunteer that humbly serves others in search of healing, growth or learning. Some of these volunteers going through the same path. The food is amazing...not only good for the body but also for the soul.

At 7000 ft elevation, this great old camp center is truly a breath of fresh air. The surroundings are beautiful, and the pace is other worldly, truly off the grid and at peace. The folks here are kind and considerate, and in earnest, they clearly love being there. The vegetarian meals were excellent and never left me wanting, even though I am not a strict vegetarian. The cabins are rustic but clean and very habitiable. Having hot showers in a rustic cabin with no electricity is great!!

Wonderful place for a retreat in a beautiful natural setting, with quality vegetarian food and comfortable, affordable accomodations. This is a great place for a summer nature retreat or to attend one of their many workshops. A special place for finding peace within.

Not recommended. There were mice droppings in my cabin and on my mattress. Hull Hall, the building where we have our lectures, also has mice. Most importantly, the camp Kitchen that prepares meals for us all is mouse infested. The Health Department needs to inspect this facility.

Response from TruthSeeker444, Public Relations Manager at Far Horizons Retreat Center

We apologize that you had this experience and hope you will try our magical camp again. We have a new head of house keeping, and can assure you that we must pass many inspections by the Tulare Health Dept. As you can see here and on other sites with reviews of our camp, yours is the only one that mentions this problem. All the rest describe the incredible setting, magical experience of being here off the grid, and the fabulous food.
