If you visit Sequoia and want to maximize your stay, you will NOT want to stay outside the park. The drive in and out is lengthy with all the twists and turns, and staying inside the park is a huge perk. There are few places to stay when you're in the park and you should expect to pay a little... More

Overall very nice. Restaurant was undergoing new construction so there was a limited menu available. The restaurant staff is very helpful. Housecleaning staff is very slow in getting around to clean the rooms.

The national park here is exceptional and really worth a visit. But the review is the accommodation specifically. We stayed in one of the grant grove delux cabins with bathroom. Having said it was pretty basic level but heating and hot water were great. Cleanliness wasn't great when we arrived, piles of stale biscuits next to the bed. Bathroom was... More

We recently spent two days in an upstairs King room at John Muir Lodge. The room was average motel style and needed some cleaning. The walls were bare and could use some artwork or color added. We had two TV's on the same wall (one was not working)! Our check-in experience was not good as staff seemed preoccupied with things... More

Stayed here for a long weekend in early November. The location was perfect but I had a horrible experience trying to dine at the lodge restaurant that I had to knock down my overall rating. Upon check in, we asked how long the wait for dinner would be (this was around 6:30 pm), we were told about 15 minutes. We... More

Grand entrance, fireplace and a good breakfast. Rooms...pretty basic. Great location to hike to the General Grant. Saw 2 bucks and 4 does right around the village. Great location to explore Kings Canyon! Don't miss this...it's worth staying an extra day at this location!

We found it to be extremely comfortable. The dinner was good. I did not expect a five-star meal. We were happy that we could get a hot meal. Those who were disappointed might reflect on the difficulties of driving on mountain roads.

I really enjoyed staying here even it is was only one night. The room was clean and comfortable. Location is great. Only the visit in the restaurant was not very satisfying. Food was good but staff was very slow and not very interested in me. Had to wait for a whole hour for the appetizer. Dinner took almost 3h (no... More

This is an extract from an email sent to The Manager this morning. Whilst writing I must advise that our stay at John Muir was not a pleasant experience and spoiled the last two days of our visit to the area. One of your receptionists was extremely sarcastic when I queried the absence of breakfast in our room price and... More

Hello, I have just read your review and want to first take the time to say that I am sorry that you were not treated in a manner that I expect. We did have some issues the first few nights that we relocated the Food Service to the John Muir Lodge and I am sorry that it happened to adversely... More

The surroundings are amazing, general grant tree nearby, drive to kings and Moro rock with a stop at general Sherman tree, however the lodge is in need of a lift. Rooms are spacious tho, but adjacent facilities are under construction and temporary food truck is just that! Could be so much better, shame really.
