We took the bus $10 from the Landing the nine-mile bouncing trip along a beautiful river up a narrow valley to the Ranch. We did not stay in the cabins, but the looked very nice. We went for dinner and would go back again in a flash. Look at the dinner hall on-line and you understand. The do a dinner that will knock your socks off, including desserts that probably come from the Stehekin Bakery, I'll bet. A really fun outing and the food was superb. Families would love this, and the bus ride. It isn't cheap, but worth the expense. Shuttle and dinner reservations are required.

The staff are very friendly. The food is absolutely AMAZING! The accommodations were very cozy and the beds were comfortable. We went on a guided kayak tour and the tour leader was very knowledgeable and helpful. This activity was very fun and highly recommended. Bethany is the Ranch Host and she is very knowledgeable about every aspect of the Ranch, the history of the area and the best things to do while visiting. Search her out if you are there and not sure what activities will round out your experience. We went hiking up to Agnes Gorge and it was a pleasant hike with a beautiful waterfall at the end. I highly recommend this hike. The Ranch is under new management which at first made me concerned as we have been visiting yearly for a long time. I was very pleased to discover that the new management are great people from the same great family that started the Ranch. They have a strong desire to maintain the traditional atmosphere of the Ranch that makes it so unique and special. We rented bikes that are new to the Ranch. They were great quality mountain bikes that were easy to operate and handled the terrain very easily. We loved riding the bikes down the valley, visiting all the sights along the way. This was a great way to experience some of the history of the area at our own pace. We even saw a small black bear and some deer on our way. Stehekin Valley Ranch is a must do at least one time in your life, you need to experience this place.

This is a great getaway. If you are comfortable with the remoteness you will love it. We take the Fields Point Ferry since it is quicker, coming from Seattle. Once there you take the ranch white school bus about 30 minutes to the ranch. Food at the ranch is great. Breakfast is made to order, eggs, pancakes along with sausage, bacon. They have some other choices usually like cereal. You can make sandwiches if you will not be there at lunch. Dinner is usually a special, but you can also order other items like salmon, burgers or steak. Save room for dessert as they have 8+ pies. While there take the bus up to High Bridge, there are several hikes up there. The orchard, back towards town, is fun. It was a homestead at one time. Make sure to check out the buildings. Make sure to follow the stream back out to the main road and read about how they made it the irrigation system. Across from the orchard is Rainbow Falls, it’s a short walk. Check out the old school, it’s unlocked so go inside. Next up is the Bakery. It is awesome. Literally everything is great there. Close to town is Carl’s garden. He has goats you can visit, bees for honey, seasonal veggies for sale. At the landing there is a general store, it has a decent beer selection. The restaurant here is closed, staff shortage supposedly. There is a short hike back behind Purple Point camp ground.

The physical location in the Stehekin Valley can’t be beat. The hospitality is a close second. The staff are friendly but not cloying. The touches like cowboy coffee and the sawdust on the floor are fun and feel authentic. This was our first visit to the Stehekin Valley and the ranch and we definitely will return. Oh by the way, I was doing 20,000 steps a day, but probably still gained weight because the food was so delicious.

My husband and I spent 4 nights in a Tent Cabin and we loved it. You are totally off the grid and everything just kind of slows down. You can do as much or as little as you want while there. The Stehekin Valley is gorgeous with big jaggy mountains around you. The Tent Cabin is exactly as they describe it - a full size bed in a wood cabin that is about 8 feet x 10 feet. No electricity and the shared bathrooms/showers are nearby (which were fine).

For activities, we got the shuttle bus up to High Bridge and did the Agnes Gorge hike in an afternoon and it was beautiful. Another day, we rented eBikes and went up to Tumwater Bridge, hiked into Howard Lake, and then biked down to Buckner's Orchard and Rainbow Falls and back to the Ranch.

We each got a massage from Marissa and she was incredible. Plus there are fun games to play and we did a bunch - volleyball, badminton, horseshoes, ping pong. Don't forget to chill out in a hammock and stay up to see incredible stars in the valley.

Oh, forgot to mention - the food was pretty darn tasty. The steelhead trout was particularly good. If you want any alcohol, you need to bring it along.

There is a general low key / very chill vibe to the ranch. It feels like an adult summer camp and it was really fun :)

Having had a one time three night experience at this ranch that was good, we thought we would return again in 2015. Having made a reservation four months prior, but then needed to cancel two months before the arrival date, we thought we would receive a full 100% refund. Not the case, the ranch keeps 25% of your deposit, nonrefundable! We are not pleased with their fee charge when they could fill our spot easily, with time to spare! Do not make the same mistake that we encountered. Nice ranch, nice employees, not nice cancellation policy as written on their web site.

I stayed here for a family wedding weekend in June 2014. I stayed in a tent cabin for three nights. My extended family members stayed in the regular cabins. Overall, the experience was good, I enjoyed it....and I have fond memories. That being said, it is not the type of place that I would probably visit twice. For me, it falls into the "Been there...done that" category.

The Stehekin Valley Ranch is quaint and unique. The food in the dining facility is not super fancy--but it is fairly good. (It is exactly what you would expect to eat at a rustic ranch). The staff (in general) are very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed horse back riding in the mountains (for an added fee) and hiking (free). Other members of our wedding group enjoyed trout fishing, massages and mountain bike riding. We played badminton, volleyball and horseshoes. The coffee pot (and a pot of hot water for tea) were always available on the fireplace in the dining lodge. We saw several deer and other animals. It was relaxing and enjoyable

The dining area is unique. It has a dirt floor covered with sawdust. (They tell me that the sawdust is changed a few times per summer). NOTE TO THE SQUEEMISH PEOPLE: You can sometimes watch mice rooting around for scraps of food in the saw dust.

The tent cabin had better beds and better furniture than I anticipated for a "tent cabin". I slept well all three nights. However, at the end of the day it is still just a canvas roofed structure with four wooden walls . It sits on a concrete slab floor. There is no electricity in the tent cabin. It is dark inside even with both the kerosene lamp and the electric lantern burning. Toilet, shower and water are in a different building. The toilet and shower facilities are nice enough--but the walk is somewhat inconvenient.

The location of the Ranch is remote--even by Stehekin standards...and gives privacy, seclusion and an outdoor feeling . The closeness of the river and the closeness of the hiking/riding trails is nice. (Some people might find the closeness of the other cabins to be distracting). Overall, the setting is beautiful. Please note that you are about nine miles from Lake Chelan and the community of Stehekin (with a shuttle bus that runs four times per day)--if such amenities are important to you.

I am glad that I came to Stehekin Valley Ranch. It was good to have experienced this place once in my lifetime.

The price quoted is a PER PERSON price. I came alone--so it was a great bargain--$100 per night for a tent cabin all to myself and three meals per day. However, if you bring a family and stay multiple nights, the PER PERSON cost starts to add up. If I had brought my family of four, it would have cost us $400 (plus tax) per night to stay in a glorified tent with no electricity and with no bath or shower (but with meals included). It would have cost us $500 per night to upgrade to a real roof, limited electricity and a bathroom. That is $2,000 to $2,500 (plus tax) for a family of four to stay here for five nights. Stehekin Valley Ranch is special, However, I don't know if coming back with my family of four would be special enough to be worth $500 per night. (I have stayed in downtown New York, Central London and in the heart of Paris for a lesser price--and had better accommodations and amenities). A family can stay at the North Cascades Lodge in Stehekin for a similar price--and have Lake Chelan right there, better electrical access and slightly more dinning choices.

We (my husband, and two kids, aged 8 and 9) spent three nights at this unique and special place recently. It was wonderful. Stehekin itself is like stepping back in time - the lack of road access has kept the area pristine. The scenery is dramatic and beautiful. I cannot say enough good things about the ranch, owned and run for more than three generations by the Courney family. It is not luxurious, but rather simple and rustic. We had a cabin with a loft area for the kids to sleep in and a bathroom/shower. It was spacious and comfortable (the tent cabins are smaller and more rustic). When not white water rafting or trail riding through the spectacular mountains, we rested in Muskoka chairs looking at the beautiful view in every direction. The food is simple but well prepared and delicious. The Courtneys and their staff are warm and friendly and make you feel like part of the family. If you like hiking, I cannot imagine anywhere better.
We will definitely go back.

My family has stayed at SVR every summer since I was three years old (I'm now seventeen). Amazing place to get away for a few days or a week or two - fabulous food, breathtaking scenery, warm comfy accomodations, great people, and lots of options for the whole family as far as recreations is concerned. Definitely highly recommended!!!

We were very disappointed in the ranch. There were multiple small problems as might be expected in such an operation: no power to a plug in the cabin, lumpy beds And a light fixture that didn’t work. But, by far the most outstanding failure of this establishment was that they totally ignored the state mandate for wearing masks. Bethany, who introduced herself as the manager, made no apologies and in fact said, incorrectly, that she could not force people to wear masks. While this may be true of the guests it certainly is not true of the employees none of whom wore masks not even the food servers. The driver of the shuttle did not wear a mask, and there was no evidence of any social distancing on the bus, though some of the guests did wear masks. We elected to rent and ride bicycles to town in 100 degee heat. It was a needlessly harrowing experience that put our whole family at risk.
