This is a great getaway. If you are comfortable with the remoteness you will love it. We take the Fields Point Ferry since it is quicker, coming from Seattle. Once there you take the ranch white school bus about 30 minutes to the ranch. Food at the ranch is great. Breakfast is made to order, eggs, pancakes along with sausage, bacon. They have some other choices usually like cereal. You can make sandwiches if you will not be there at lunch. Dinner is usually a special, but you can also order other items like salmon, burgers or steak. Save room for dessert as they have 8+ pies. While there take the bus up to High Bridge, there are several hikes up there. The orchard, back towards town, is fun. It was a homestead at one time. Make sure to check out the buildings. Make sure to follow the stream back out to the main road and read about how they made it the irrigation system. Across from the orchard is Rainbow Falls, it’s a short walk. Check out the old school, it’s unlocked so go inside. Next up is the Bakery. It is awesome. Literally everything is great there. Close to town is Carl’s garden. He has goats you can visit, bees for honey, seasonal veggies for sale. At the landing there is a general store, it has a decent beer selection. The restaurant here is closed, staff shortage supposedly. There is a short hike back behind Purple Point camp ground.…

We were very disappointed in the ranch. There were multiple small problems as might be expected in such an operation: no power to a plug in the cabin, lumpy beds And a light fixture that didn’t work. But, by far the most outstanding failure of this establishment was that they totally ignored the state mandate for wearing masks. Bethany, who introduced herself as the manager, made no apologies and in fact said, incorrectly, that she could not force people to wear masks. While this may be true of the guests it certainly is not true of the employees none of whom wore masks not even the food servers. The driver of the shuttle did not wear a mask, and there was no evidence of any social distancing on the bus, though some of the guests did wear masks. We elected to rent and ride bicycles to town in 100 degee heat. It was a needlessly harrowing experience that put our whole family at risk.…

My husband and I spent 4 nights in a Tent Cabin and we loved it. You are totally off the grid and everything just kind of slows down. You can do as much or as little as you want while there. The Stehekin Valley is gorgeous with big jaggy mountains around you. The Tent Cabin is exactly as they describe it - a full size bed in a wood cabin that is about 8 feet x 10 feet. No electricity and the shared bathrooms/showers are nearby (which were fine). For activities, we got the shuttle bus up to High Bridge and did the Agnes Gorge hike in an afternoon and it was beautiful. Another day, we rented eBikes and went up to Tumwater Bridge, hiked into Howard Lake, and then biked down to Buckner's Orchard and Rainbow Falls and back to the Ranch. We each got a massage from Marissa and she was incredible. Plus there are fun games to play and we did a bunch - volleyball, badminton, horseshoes, ping pong. Don't forget to chill out in a hammock and stay up to see incredible stars in the valley. Oh, forgot to mention - the food was pretty darn tasty. The steelhead trout was particularly good. If you want any alcohol, you need to bring it along. There is a general low key / very chill vibe to the ranch. It feels like an adult summer camp and it was really fun :)…

The physical location in the Stehekin Valley can’t be beat. The hospitality is a close second. The staff are friendly but not cloying. The touches like cowboy coffee and the sawdust on the floor are fun and feel authentic. This was our first visit to the Stehekin Valley and the ranch and we definitely will return. Oh by the way, I was doing 20,000 steps a day, but probably still gained weight because the food was so delicious.

This was my second visit to the Stehekin Valley Ranch and won't be my last! I love the peaceful setting, the overall ambiance of the place, and warm, welcoming staff. I'm vegetarian, so can't speak excitedly about the meat dishes, but know that they are plenty popular with others!

I can't think of a better way to spend a family reunion. We booked a year in advance (necessary) to celebrate our parents' 50th anniversary and had five ranch cabins among the 16 of us. What a treat to have our own places to sleep but to also share common outdoor spaces and all meals. It was a true treat to have a family getaway free from discussion on who is cooking, who is doing dishes, etc. Everything was provided and everyone felt like they had a true vacation. Some highlights: The ranch kindly lent us a minivan for our stay. It helped us coordinate explorations: Agnes Gorge was an easy 5 to 6 mile hike for all of us (saw a bear!). Even the five year olds made it. A mile down the road from the ranch we walked to a great spot for the kids to play in the river and catch little fish in their nets. Another day we drove to the bakery and jumped off a public dock into the lake. Next time we'll rent bikes and a side by side. There's so much to explore and do. The kids played field games out in the pasture in the front of the ranch, enjoyed the play structure, and spent hours exploring. It's a fantastic set up for families. While we were there, every cabin was booked, but it still was very quiet and peaceful---I haven't experienced quiet like that in a long time. We loved talking to other guests about their own travels, adventures, etc. Quite a few folks coming off the PCT. We'll be back for sure! Tip: Cabins 13 and 14 (Bill and Mary) are smaller but have small fridges/kitchenettes and more private patio spaces away from the other cabins/tents. Ours was more than enough room for my family of three, and we were grateful to keep some of our own snacks on hand. Cabins 9/10 are spacious with two twins beds in the loft and a big bed and a futon downstairs. We gathered in the evenings on one of the decks of those two for singalongs, stories, and games.…

I hesitate to rave too much about Stehekin Valley Ranch because I am worried that no cabins will be available the next time we want to visit - which I hope is soon! But I have to tell the truth, so here goes. My husband and I visited for 4 nights in July and found the ranch to be perfect for our needs. We reserved a "gypsy wagon", which is a new lodging this summer, consisting of a bedroom with queen size bed, small sitting area and full bathroom - perfect for two people. The wagon is on wheels but fixed in place. It was clean, cute, stocked with towels and small toiletries and included a small porch with 2 chairs for relaxing. The food.... what can I say? Three meals/day are included in the rate and we were well fed. From cowboy coffee on the hearth of the cookhouse all day, to full breakfasts with made to order omelets, hotcakes & french toast to dinners of prime rib, roasted chicken and marinated flank steak. There is a dinner special every night and if that is not to your liking, you can always special order a steak, burger, veggie burger, vegetarian plate, etc. You won't leave hungry. The pies & bread come from the Stehekin Bakery and are Delicious! Activities that you can choose, for a fee, include horseback riding, kayaking and ebike riding. Of course, hiking, strolling around the gorgeous property, laying in a hammock, sitting on the porch and napping are all free! To top it off, the staff are wonderful and quickly become more like friends. The ranch owner, Cliff, may be your bus driver! The manager Bethany is always around, answering questions, helping out and scheduling activities. Sam, Gordie, Lark & Estoban were all so friendly we felt like family. Need more towels? Right there is the laundry, toss you old ones in the hamper and grab what you need. When my husband and I needed a lift upvalley and were going to have to wait for the bus, we saw the ranch van heading up the road. A quick whistle from my hubs and Estoban was happy to pull over and give is a lift, giving us time to spend an afternoon e-biking rather than sitting at the bakery - great as that was! Be aware, there is NO phone or WiFi. No TV in the cabins - or anywhere. Be prepared to unplug and relax. The ranch has a supply of books, games, puzzles, etc. For us, it was part of the charm of the valley to be totally disconnected. If you make the journey to Stehekin, this is a wonderful place to stay.…

We walked here on the Pacific Crest Trail and stayed in a cabin for one night. It's a quiet spot. We ate 3 meals here, and they were all great and included in the price. For singles, meals are served at large communal tables so it's easy to find someone to chat with. You can't walk to much from here, but the Red Bus takes you to the center of Stehekin, bakery or hiking trails at high bridge 4x per day during high season. You can also rent bikes at the property, either by the hour or day. It's expensive to stay here, but it's very calm setting and it's nice to have your own cabin. Staff was very helpful accommodating our request to do laundry.

We spent two days at the ranch which began with the white bus driven by Bethany picking us up for the 30 minute ride. After taking the Lady Express we made it just in time to settle into our brand new gypsy wagon before we headed to lunch where we chose fresh made hamburgers from the grill. We hiked, rented and electric bike, read, met very friendly guests at meals, tried an unsuccessful windy game of ping pong, met the horse stable a short walk across the field. Stehekin has been on our bucket list for over 20 years, so pleased to have stayed at the Stehekin Valley Ranch. All transportation is by the red bus, with defined stops/pick-up. On our return to the Lady Express, we were given a tour of the old school house, rainbow falls and yes, the bakery!!!

Yes, a little expensive, but well worth it. We enjoyed everything about the place. Grounds and rooms are well kept. The remote setting in the Cascades was spectacular. We met so many great people at the family style dinning, and enjoyed the home cooked meals provided by Ms. Courtney. We did the half day horse ride up into the mountains, was really beautiful. If we ever have the chance, we will be back.
