Flew Rust's Air Service to Crescent Lake for a day out on the water. We saw Eagles, loons and several varieties of ducks, and of course bears, including several cubs. Our guide was friendly and knowledgable. Whenever we spotted a bear, he carefully tracked the bear as it fished for salmon - it was fun for us whether the bear...

OK: I guess that, despite the advertising that shows bears everywhere you turn, there could be days when none of them show up. Ours was certainly such a day and, in fact, virtually nothing showed up. In a tour around the bay that lasted almost three hours, we saw a total of one Bald Eagle, two Loons and three Sea Lions....

We spent one day and night at the lodge and had the most wonderful experience. It cannot be compared to anything else. After flying in on Rust's you are met at the dock and shown your accommodation and the main lodge (we stayed in the Lakeside Cabin). The staff are amazing - all of them! The bear viewings were a bit...

Spent the day here on a tour with Johnny. We had Rusts pick us up in Anchorage and fly us out on a sea plane. This was the highlight of our Alaska trip. We got within 10 ft of bears and bald eagles. Witnessed one black bear catching a salmon pit of the water. Just an incredible day with a...

We had a wonderful trip to Redoubt Bay Lodge for some bear viewing. Our trip there and back on the float plane was great. Rust's Flying Service provided great planes and pilots. The three hour bear watching tour is from a pontoon boat on Otter Lake. (A three hour tour. A three hour tour. 😊) We didn't know if we'd...

We took a seaplane flight from Anchorage to the Lodge. (That in itself was an incredible experience). We landed on the lake and after a brief visit to the lodge were taken by boat to the base of a fish ladder where the salmon were bubbling out of the water. A baby black bear came down to feed. He took...

We had an amazing day. Flew into Lake Clarke on float planes. We got a safety and orientation talk from a bear expert and then got on a pontoon. Our guide's name was Matt - he did a great job. Saw a black bear right away. Then went over to the creek where the salmon were. There were boats of...

This is not a day lodge, so Jess Y has wrongly posted here. This is a lodge owned by Ryan and his wife. They have 12 lodges, each very modern, clean wiht heat and hot water/showers in the cabins. The Lodge is amazingly tastefully decorated and they serve three hot meals a day. Each two some has their own personal...

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home by the charming Jim and Sheena who run the lodge with warmth and enthusiasm for the nature and wildlife that surrounds the lodge. Chef produces tasty fresh food (which is delivered by float plane!) and there is always coffee and tea available in the main lodge with beer...

We spent $1,400 for a day trip from Anchorage and were very disappointed. The setting is beautiful, but unfortunately the guide in charge (he reminded us frequently that he was the boss of the others) was arrogant, out of touch and condescending. A naturalist by training, he had great knowledge of the bears -- but a terrible understanding of what...
