I spent 5 days at the lodge and enjoyed the accommodations , the hospitality, the food and the BEARS! Our Guide (Hunter) was so knowledgeable and helpful in locating the bears and making sure we got the best locations for our pictures. Thanks James and Sheila for operating such a lovely lodge in beautiful Lake Clark National Park.

We waited two years to get to this lodge, but it was DEFINITELY worth our wait. Hopefully it will not be our last trip. I can not say enough good things about this magical place. Sheila and James from the first email wanted to make sure we had our bucket list bear viewing trip, we did. The Bears Den was...

I just returned from 6 days with a photography "safari" to photograph the brown bears [aka "grizzlies"] of Silver Salmon Creek. Homestead Lodge is a gem. Our group was treated to 3 home-cooked gourmet meals a day, with fresh produce from the organic garden in the back yard. It was a great experience.

It was an amazing trip. You get picked up from the plane and taken to the lodge. My girlfriend and I were given the eagles nest room which had an amazing view. We went out on the carts and got to see the Bears. It is a lot of walking involved and getting in and out of the cart so...

What an amazing place! From the moment we stepped off the plane, we knew we were in bear paradise. You take a small plane from Soldotna and land on the beach. They pick you up in a small cart and you drive a short distance to the lodge for coffee and hot muffins -- and then you immediately go in...

How do I possibly write how much my stay at the Alaska Homestead Lodge meant to me without writing a book? I would begin with = the best possible place to view Grizzly Bears :) It is an absolutely beautiful lodge, tasteful decor, newly renovated, well kept up & to date, clean and most of all the warm friendly reception...

This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the wildness of Alaska while enjoying comfortable lodging, great food and friendly guides. There are two lodges that work together to provide guests with plenty of bear viewing opportunities. The scenery is beautiful and there is the opportunity to go clamming or fishing. Homestead's staff and location are first class. We spent two...

We really wanted to see bears in their natural habitat and this was an outstanding experience. the people at the Homestead lodge were welcoming and the food was great. Michael, the chef, is very talented and could easily cook in a 5 star restaurant. Our guide was Bel and she knew just where to find the bears. there are 20-25...

It took a while to get used to being that close to grizzly (brown) bears. But it seemed like the sows with their cubs wanted to be close to humans, not for dessert, but for protection from competing boars that try to kill the cubs or take the sow away from the cubs. 40 yards (the closest approach distance; a...
