It was an amazing trip. You get picked up from the plane and taken to the lodge. My girlfriend and I were given the eagles nest room which had an amazing view. We went out on the carts and got to see the Bears. It is a lot of walking involved and getting in and out of the cart so... More

What an amazing place! From the moment we stepped off the plane, we knew we were in bear paradise. You take a small plane from Soldotna and land on the beach. They pick you up in a small cart and you drive a short distance to the lodge for coffee and hot muffins -- and then you immediately go in... More

How do I possibly write how much my stay at the Alaska Homestead Lodge meant to me without writing a book? I would begin with = the best possible place to view Grizzly Bears :) It is an absolutely beautiful lodge, tasteful decor, newly renovated, well kept up & to date, clean and most of all the warm friendly reception... This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the wildness of Alaska while enjoying comfortable lodging, great food and friendly guides. There are two lodges that work together to provide guests with plenty of bear viewing opportunities. The scenery is beautiful and there is the opportunity to go clamming or fishing. Homestead's staff and location are first class. We spent two... More

We really wanted to see bears in their natural habitat and this was an outstanding experience. the people at the Homestead lodge were welcoming and the food was great. Michael, the chef, is very talented and could easily cook in a 5 star restaurant. Our guide was Bel and she knew just where to find the bears. there are 20-25... More

It took a while to get used to being that close to grizzly (brown) bears. But it seemed like the sows with their cubs wanted to be close to humans, not for dessert, but for protection from competing boars that try to kill the cubs or take the sow away from the cubs. 40 yards (the closest approach distance; a... We booked a full day bear viewing tour with Alaska Homestead Lodge. We flew from Soldotna at 9 am and left the lodge at 5 PM. We were met by Don, our guide, when we landed on the beach. He started our tour immediately, since there were bears on the beach digging for clams. It was a wonderful start to... More

Homestead Lodge Lake Clark Alaska is beyond fantastic. The Lodge is spotless and the meals are amazing. Few places go above and beyond but Homestead Lodge is exceptional. To be in the presence of Bears everyday is a privilege.I spent 7 days in this beautiful remote place photographing bears. This is magnificent country and really is the last frontier. The... More

This past September my husband and I made our fifth trip to visit Alaska and as wonderful as every trip has been (reason we kept going back) this one topped them all due to our three day/night stay at Alaska Homestead Lodge. Our stay allowed us to connect with the awesomeness of Nature while staying and being pampered in the... More
