We are mid and late 60's travellers, so this is geared for you. We spent two nites at the Lodge, which is just a five minute flat paved walk from the marina. The two restaurants are within that walk, as well. The staff are friendly and helpful. Your luggage is brought from the boat for you, and picked up from... More

The island life is the life for me. There are no phones. No cars. No Wi-Fi to speak of. No TV. But in exchange you get a nice clean place to sleep with the waves lapping at the shore right outside your front door. Ask for the lower level to take advantage of the small patio and a couple of... The rooms are not luxurious, but they are better than we expected. The knotty pine paneling looks great and is fairly recent. The composite balcony right on the shoreline is awesome. The mid-century plumbing fixtures worked fine and added to the "cabin" ambiance. Opening the windows at night to hear the waves hitting the rocks and catch the breeze is... More

We spent four days on Isle Royale and stayed at Rock Harbor Lodge. This is pretty basic accomodation - but absolutely perfect for a few days of hiking and staying 'off the grid'. No cell service. No internet. Lots of natural beauty and wildlife. Rooms are clean and most have a view of Lake Superior. This is NOT an inexpensive... More

The rooms at Isle Royale have a greeat view of the lake. You can leave the window open and hear the waves of Lake Superior all night. The food is outstanding, particularly the salmon and the lake trout. The beds are very comfortable and have plenty of room. Now for the bad news. The Housekeeping staff does NOT know how... More

My husband said he wanted to go here and I had not even really heard of it. SO glad we went. 3 1/2 hours on a boat to get here and it can be rough- take sea sick pills! The lodge is very cute, reminds me of camping as a kid. The room was fairly big and right on the... More

From the moment we arrived, gritty and grimy from 4 days of hiking the Greenstone from Windigo, we were treated with personal care. ("I'm so sorry to be so filthy." "It's fine! We're used to it!") All the staff were friendly: the office manager, the waitstaff in the restaurant, and the bellhop who took our bags to the seaplane. This... More

Excellent lakeside location with clean rooms, comfortable beds and a great porch to sit on and just chill an relax and read a book. The wait staff at the restaurant, was very friendly and very good. The food was pretty basic but healthy and good. Slow internet service available at the Guest house. Pretty expensive for what you get, with... More

I was pleasantly surprised by the room in the lodge. Nice clean rooms that look out over the lake. Each room has a porch that sits out over the water. A really lovely setting to return to after a long day hiking. Not the striped down room's that you sometimes find at National Park's.

Just got back from a 3-night stay at Rock Harbor Lodge and don't think I can add anything to what other recent TA reviewers have said. Great waterside location, nice cabin - like rooms, with comfortable beds and a great balcony. Pricey but definitely worth it in this remote, pristine location. Restaurant was a pleasant surprise for NPS - simple... More
