I loved our stay at Volcano House and the National Park. I'd return to the Big Island just to stay at Volcano House and to visit this Park again with my family. The rooms have some slight quirks, but they are clean and the bathrooms are updated and nice. The lobby area with the iconic view of the smoking volcano...

It was great to be able to stay right in Volcano National Park during our recent trip to the big island. Our room was comfortable and we had a view of the caldera. Our first night there, we enjoyed a guided hike and then watched the colors of the caldera change over dinner. Lovely staff, good food and live music...

I have lived in Hawaii for 23 years and I don't know why I have not been in Volcano House. I liked the lodge as soon as I sew it. Coming inside, I fell in love with the place. The lodge is simple but warm and the surroundings are more than perfect. I recommend everyone to take a hike down...

As the only restaurant within the national park, I didn't have high expectations. And the sullen attitude of the staff didn't help first impressions. Still, the food was surprisingly quite good, and although still daylight, the view was nice also.

The location alone gives this place a five star rating! The lodge itself is very nice, especially compared to other National Park lodges we've stayed in. Our room overlooked the rim (highly recommended) and was clean, nicely appointed and spacious enough for four of us to comfortably enjoy our time here. The staff was outstanding - friendly and very knowledgeable...

Well, I would give Volcano House Restaurant 0 out of 5 if I could. My husband and family, (8 total, all adults) were very excited to be visiting Hawaii for the first time and had heard great things about this restaurant and the views of the Volcano in the evening. Well the best thing I can say is the Volcano...

When you stay here, you're paying for the experience of a night in a national park... but even though you're paying resort price, the rooms are equivalent to a best western summer camp-- basic amenities (shower, closet, bed, etc... note no tv, but why would you need a tv in a national park, right!?). The hotel staff is incredibly gracious...

We really enjoyed our stay at Volcano House. Just what we had hoped for - an old style lodge with character, comfortable chairs in the lounge to relax and look at the view. Rooms are comfortable with no distraction from TV. AC Is not needed as cooler at higher altitude. We found the food good. The breakfast is very good...

We stayed one night in a camper cabin that is part of the Volcano House facilities in Volcanoes National Park. The outside of the cabin looked nice, but everything in the inside was white and our cabin was in need of a fresh coat of paint. The mattress on the double bed was very hard. There were also bunk beds...

This is a very basic facility that was constructed in the 40's. The rooms are very basic...no TV, no A/C, but neither is needed nor wanted. You are here to see the volcano, and all you need to do is look out the window...the view is nothing short of SPECTACULAR! The restaurant is OK. The service was not that great....
