The actual name is Kilauea Military Camp, and the actual address is: 99-252 Crater Rim Drive, Volcano, HI 96785, located within Volcanoes National Park. It is a stunningly good place to stay to experience VNP. Although shuttle service is offered from Hilo International to KMC, you really need a rental car to get there and to enjoy the park, as...

This is the third time that we have used these facilities over the past 10 years and each time, the quality keeps improving. The reception was exceptional and all the amenaties that you need are right on the camp. There is a great small general store as well as a good bar for evening fare. You won't be disappointed with...

The Military Camp is a wonderful way to experience the Volcano National Park. The location is great as you drive in and around the park with ease with your lodging within a very short distance. It is nothing fancy but very accommodating. The staff is friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. We had a two bedroom cottage (they also have 3). They...

We stayed here for 2 nights after spending 5 nights at the Mauna Lani Terrace condos. The cabin was simple and clean. There is also a gas station, general store & cafeteria. Best of all, it is located inside VNP; near the Jaggar Museum Viewpoint and the Kīlauea Visitor Center. Very convenient for hiking the Iki trail, and seeing the...

We spent almost a week in one of the one bedroom cabins the first of Dec. The camp was decorated with beautiful Christmas decorations. We loved the decorations on our cabin! We used to own a home several miles from here, but sold it. We loved staying here in our cozy cabin which even had heat for chilly nights. The...

My husband, myself, our son and his girlfriend were looking forward to staying inside the Kilauea National Volcano Park during our stay on the Big Island. We had made reservations a few months before for a 3 night stay...we only stayed one night and that one night was us trying to make the most of it. The two positives about...

We stayed at KMC a decade ago, before kids. We had a great time and plan to come again with the kids. We loved making a fire in the fireplace and exploring the volcano area. Just keep in mind that is a camp and is rustic. More like camping. For resort relaxation, smoothies, and fun go to Hilton Waikoloa!

We stayed four nights in a clean rustic one bedroom cabin with a separate living room. It reminded me of a WWII officer's quarters. It had a small refrigerator and microwave. We ate a few meals at the mess hall. The food was good and inexpensive. We used the coin-operated laundry facility. This camp is located inside the Hawaii Volcanoes...

I would not recommend this place to rest your head. Just because it is within walking distance to an active volcano does not give KMC the right to use the word RESORT in its advertisement. Cabin 41 should have been listed condemned. Constant stink, sticky substance on refrigerator and bugs scattering with the flick of a switch were the most...

We stayed the last two nights on the island here as my fiancee is retired military. The cottages are dated and need a deep cleaning. There was mold on both the bathroom tubs (where the wall seem meets the tub) and we killed numerous cockroaches. I wouldnt have noticed the mold normally but in the seating position from the living...
