We stayed four nights in a clean rustic one bedroom cabin with a separate living room. It reminded me of a WWII officer's quarters. It had a small refrigerator and microwave. We ate a few meals at the mess hall. The food was good and inexpensive. We used the coin-operated laundry facility. This camp is located inside the Hawaii Volcanoes... More

I would not recommend this place to rest your head. Just because it is within walking distance to an active volcano does not give KMC the right to use the word RESORT in its advertisement. Cabin 41 should have been listed condemned. Constant stink, sticky substance on refrigerator and bugs scattering with the flick of a switch were the most... More

We stayed the last two nights on the island here as my fiancee is retired military. The cottages are dated and need a deep cleaning. There was mold on both the bathroom tubs (where the wall seem meets the tub) and we killed numerous cockroaches. I wouldnt have noticed the mold normally but in the seating position from the living... More

We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin. One room had a double bed and closet. The other room had 2 double beds, sink, toilet, TV and dresser. Hall bath with full tub/shower. Pull out sofa in living room. Small kitchen with full size appliances and minimally stocked cookware/dishes. We have a family of 5, including 3 teen girls. Good space... More

We decided to go to Volcano National Park from our vacation rental home in Kona. We had an early breakfast because we planned on eating in Volcano Village later in the day. After seeing the steam vents, visiting the visitors' center, and visiting the museum, we decided to find a restaurant in nearby Volcano Village. It was close to 6:30... More

The village of volcano nearby is very small and doesn't have a lot of options for things to do or places to eat. Hilo is the closest decent sized city but it's 30-45 min away. The camp is great because you're right in the park, in nature and it's completely self sufficient with a general store, gas station, movie theater,... More

What a wonderful place. The staff, from registration, housekeeping, maintenance and food service all need to be commended for their fabulous service they provide to the veterans, active and retirees of our nation. It is on the National Park and central basically to the entire island. We would visit the park then venture off into island to explore. From the... More

Hidden gem in Volcano Natl Park for those lucky enough to be associated with military (even non retired veterans if they have room). For a fraction of the cost was able to literally sleep in a volcano (slight exaggeration). Cost of 3 nights for a 3 room cottage was the same as 1 night at the lodge for 1 room... More

Cute cottages with wood burning fireplace. Everything is walking distance on the camp. We had breakfast at the Crater Rim Cafe and it was really good and inexpensive. The staff were very helpful and nice. The store has everything you would need to include wood, s'more making items, beverages (alcoholic and non), food, souvenirs, clothing, toiletries. Cute arcade with coffee... More

We stayed in cottage #65, (2 bedrooms- 1 room with queen size bed and 2nd room with 2 queen size beds) wood burning fireplace, fully equipped kitchen and living room). My only complain was the mold on the bathroom window). WiFi was week. There's tennis court, gym and gas station. The general store closed at 7pm, if I'm not mistaken.... More
