The Gros Ventre Campground is the closest campground to the town of Jackson. Surrounded by cottonwood trees, bordered by the Gros Ventre River, and with views of the Grand Teton Mountain Range, this campground is truly magnificent! Gros Ventre has just over 300 individual campsites for both tents and RVs and five large group sites. Every site is different ranging from wooded to sunny and nestled among trees. Sites vary in size and can accommodate RVs up to 45ft. Thirty-six sites have electricity, 10 of which are ADA compliant with and adjacent restroom. There are two loops that do not allow generators and one loop that only allows tents. All campsites include a picnic table, a fire pit, and parking for one RV or two cars. Nearby bathrooms include flush toilets and cold running water. Shower facilities are located in the surrounding area but not on site. Individual campsites are available on a first come, first served basis.

We stayed one night in a tent at the Gros Ventre camground and were very pleased with the location. Very easy access to Jackson and to the Grand Teton NP, the campsite was well organised and well kept in a nice quiet location near the Gros Ventre river. In the morning we saw a group of moose munch their way right through the campground as they made their way to the river. They seemed very used to having people follow them around taking pictures and totally unphased by their proximity to the point they just strolled right past people, so a great location for very early morning close up moose pictures!

We would prefer a less populated campground. There are over 300 sites here but for what is is-it is good. Clean and plentiful restrooms with flush toilets and sinks. Sites are very close but positioned pretty well. Firewood is expensive but needed for camp grill. Walk to the river. It’s worth it!

We were planning on staying at Colter Bay but found that all of the spaces were occupied. We were directed to this campground and found the last open site. The restrooms were clean and water available. Nice quiet spot in the trees for shade. Days were hot.

We just recently returned from our first ever trip to GTNP and it included 2 nights in Gros Ventre. We were well pleased with the campsite offered. We were in a 30' rental RV, stayed near the river. We did have a chair stolen from our site while exploring the park, but that's not the fault of the campground. I understand why this park is the last to fill up, but I think I would pick it again as it was exactly what/where we needed it! We will be back if we are fortunate enough to make the trip again.

Large campground, did not fill several nights during the week after July 4. We found a spot far from the main road, on a "tent only" loop; gravel tent pad easily fit our 6-person tent; fire ring with grill (previous tenant left us plenty of partially-burned wood so we did not have to purchase any), picnic table (bring a table cloth/cover), bear box (big enough for our food, camp stove, tripod camp chairs, and more); restroom (sink and toilets only) and potable water spigot right across the road (several restroom locations on our loop); many trees for tying up rope for drying lines (which we needed when our tent leaked after a night time rain!!) and giving lots of shade.Clear skies at night - so dark by 10 o'clock, you can see the Milky Way! Would definitely stay again.
