Enjoyed our second stay at the Thunderbird. Perfect location at the center of the village. Ate at both the Bright Angel restaurant (Harvey's House), and El Tovar (fine dining). Great to pick up the shuttle, did the South rim hike over 2 days from Hermits rest all the way to the Kaibab Trail head. Beautiful, usually warm weather in Feb...

The Thunderbird Lodge was built in the 70's, I would guess. Though I was told by the National Parks that it had been upgraded, our room had not. Also, we paid for a "partial view" of the canyon, which was blocked by snow and not very scenic anyway; "streetside" would have been as good and less expensive. Be prepared that...

I feel like we hit the jackpot seeing the "rooms available " sign. There were 5 huge tour busses parked out front. The tours were shopping & taking pics in the lodge gift shoppe. Rooms are nice , very comfortable clean and smaller than average, but who's in a room other than evening to sleep. The most amazing thing is...

Great hotel stay, although a little dated the hotel is very good for a short stay. We found the rooms and beds comfortable but the pillows need to be updated. The breakfast was delicious and the Views amazing.

Stayed here for 3 nights in January - it was wonderful. The lodge is definitely barebones, but it was PERFECT for the type of trip we wanted - clean, convenient, warm, accommodating. Lots of great coffee and tea in the room for early mornings pre-hiking! Yes, we had to be a bit strategic with parking spots but even if you...

Can't beat the location. We arrived in the midst of a winter storm. So grateful that we didnt have the drive around because we were literally right next to the rim. Worth the extra money. Checked in at Bright Angel, no problems. We got a standard room on the first floor, and it was clean and comfortable.

Room was great. We went on a snowy day so couldn't enjoy the view right in front which was right on the canyon's rim. Still it felt good to be able to just step outside knowing you are right at the edge of the rim. Overall happy with amenities and all.

Thunderbird and Kachina lodges may seem overpriced, but offer about the best value for money in the park. Tremendous location, at the rim, close to the best restaurants, Arizona and El Tovar. You'll save a lot of time at such a location. Well worth the money. Book well in advance. You will not regret it.

The location next to the Grand Canyon and the view from the room can't be beat. The room, when you enter, is clean and well decorated. The room seemed cold and is warmed by floor heaters next to the walls. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom looks good but was freezing cold with a ice cold floor. The heating element...

This was a nice hotel in the Grand Canyon. I highly recommend staying in the village rather than outside. You get the Canyon to yourself in the mornings and evenings (at least we did - but we did go in the winter). The rooms are comfortable and well furnished and clean. Service was great. Drawbacks (shouldn't deter from staying -...
