My husband and I just completed a Grand Canyon hiking adventure with the Wildland Trekking company for our 20th anniversary. We camped for 2 nights at Indian Garden. We had a premiere campsite next to the bathroom near the top of the sites with plenty of shade and access to water. I found the compost bathrooms to be very clean... More

The hike down Bright Angel trail is an adventure in itself and we were so glad to see the sign for Indian Gardens after all those switchbacks. IG is a small, shady, beautiful campground half-way down. We picked the site closest to the bathrooms, which was a mixed blessing. Great for us when we needed to go, but also meant... More

Camped out at IG with wife and sons (13 & 9). Della, (Park Ranger) is the bomb. So full of life and excitement about her job and the park. It was so refreshing to visit with her. Our stay there was awesome. Great sites with covered tables, easy access to bathrooms that were super clean and looked brand new. IG... More

It's well worth the 4.6 mile hike into and through this beauty. Incredible how such an oasis can grow and maintain itself in the midst of a desert climate. Plenty of places to sit and take in this green paradise. The water (when available) is pure and refreshing. Enjoy.

Indian Garden is a beautiful stop on Bright Angel Trail. It is approximately half way between the rim trailhead and Colorado river. It has water available, toilets, rest benches, access to stream. After walking the trail through desert-like landscapes arriving to Indian Garden feels like reaching a green oasis! There is a small campground for about 15 tents available. You... More

We camped here for two nights, hiked down to Phantom Ranch and came back up and spend the second night at Indian Gardens again. It is the perfect location to do this long hike without risking your life. Also, you can hike to Plateau Point in the evening for spectacular sunset views. There aren't a lot of camp sites here... Rim to Rim in the Grand Canyon is about 24 miles, but that number, though large, is misleading because it doesn't count the elevation loss and gain, which will be more than 10,600 feet. From the South Rim to Indian Gardens is about 5 miles, with an elevation loss of about 3,000 feet. The elevation change is really not significant... More

We decided to break our hiking-up journey on bright angel trail into two parts, and stayed 1 night at Indian Garden campsite. You wont believe that you're in desert, as this campsite is very well shaded and in middle of lush greenery. Toilets are clean, but no flush-toilets like bright angel campsite. Almost all campsites has a good view; but... More

After 2 nights in Bright Angel Campground, we hiked up to Indian Garden for 2 nights. Really nice break from the heat, a lot cooler too due to the elevation up from Bright Angel. More shade as well. No flush toilets, but as pit toilets go, these were pretty nice! The kids and I went to both the 2:00 ranger... More

Our second night of backpacking in the Grand Canyon brought us to Indian Garden campground. Rangers were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of space, trees and water. Pit toilets. Picnic tables with covers. More space between campsites than at Bright Angel. Far enough off the main trail that there was no noise. Very peaceful. Make reservations!
