My wife and I went camping without reservations during the week before Columbus Day. We got a very nice, somewhat private site, close to a bathroom. The staff at the gate was very helpful, gave us some ideas for hiking, and places to stop by car. The campground is close to the water and actually very well taken care of.... More

Stayed in this campground for 2 nights in the middle of September. Everything about it was great. The facilities and camp sites were clean. We had 2 tents on one site and there was plenty of room. Fire pit and picnic table were on each site. The sites were nicely spaced and the Rangers were very pleasurable. The proximity to... More

It's a nice campground with access to bus and easy walk to beautiful ocean views. Tenting sites are very close together in A loop and afford minimal privacy. Raccoons are abundant at night, so secure all items. The pay showers are right outside of the camp and are $2 for four minutes. That facility (not run by NPS campground) was... More

This is a really nice campground. The sites are set back in the trees and your neighbor is separated from you with the trees. The camps quite down early in the evening so it's a nice getaway. There was a group of middle school kids that came into the group campsite and while they were quite noisy at meal time... More

Camped here for 2 nights and was pleasantly surprised by the location. A short drive from Bar Habor downtown and there is a hiking route directly from campground to Cadillac Mountain and back (south ridge). Campground was $30 a night and $25 per car to park anywhere in Acadia. It was clean and sites were a decent size, some closer... More

Amazing - stunning park, great trails, bring your bike for the carriage paths and use the free bus system to get around, get up to Cadillac Mountain (no bus to that spot). Know before you go - the campground has flush toilets in well placed modern AND VERY CLEAN buildings but no hot water and the button for the cold... More

The bathrooms at this campground were cleaner than some restaurants we have been to. Everything was very well maintained. We were in the B loop, which does not have any large RV sites- it is mostly tent campers. There were a few loud groups but overall quiet and peaceful. Very nice!

This is a sweet little gem of a campground. The sites are compact but this allows for more sites in a popular park. Despite their smallness they feel rather large and are well spaced and I didn't feel like I was on top of folks despite the campground being full each night we were there. The gravel can be a... while the setting of acadia on the beautiful coast of maine may rate as one of the top scenic places on the east coast, this national park is a zoo. not from an organizational standpoint however, the rangers are great, friendly and professional, the grounds tidy and and the free shuttles dependable - bathrooms clean, water potable. there are just... If you are choosing between the two main campgrounds at Acadia, you are essentially choosing between location and the campground itself. Blackwoods is PERFECTLY located to explore the main parts of Acadia and Bar Harbor. The drive to town is only about 10 minutes and it's quite close to several entrances to the Loop Road. It's got a small store... More
