We wanted to breakup the trip from Rome to Florence, so decided to look for a place in the country. Our search directed us to Bosco Rocconi, a WWF Preserve and the small bed and breakfast associated with it -- Capra Matilda. I'm still not sure how we ended up here, but it was certainly a great find!. It's a beautiful, bucolic setting, where Jason showed us around the farm accompanied by his bilingual son, Nasim, who speaks English with Italian body language. Talk about cute! The next day Jason guided us through a wonderful hike around the oasi (nature preserve). I can't recommend this place more highly -- enjoy,
We stayed for 5 days plus. The gps took us the wrong way, so use Google Maps which locates it exactly. Take your time and enjoy the winding roads and wonderful scenery around Tuscany. Stop in Rocalbena, and the WWF reserve for some very stunning vistas. Back at Capra Matilda, enjoy very good accomodations, and the best food around made by Sonia and Antonio. Wonderful, sincere, and knowledgeable about their farm and surroundings, they will take you on tour with a wealth of information about the medieval maremma pigs, cattle, sheep, bees, and their gardens of organic veggies. Dont miss this!
