What a hidden gem in Sugeres. This wonderful place surpassed my expectations. I stayed for 4 nights at the Hotel de Sugeres for a wedding nearby. I was warmly welcomed by Patrick who showed to my beautiful room and bathroom which had twin basin and a wonderful walk in shower. Everywhere was very clean and immaculate. My room overlooked the... We stayed in this lovely hotel as a friend was getting married nearby. The rooms look like something from a stately home - absolutely gorgeous - and the hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious, the beds comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, with home-made jams and brioche the first day, buttermilk pancakes the second. We... More

You could not want for a better place to stay. A rather grand old house with and extensive garden at the rear, exceptional food and very hospitable hosts. My generously sized room on the first floor looked out over the garden. It was simply but comfortably furnished. My large bathroom was very well appointed. Everything was spotlessly clean and beautifully... More

This is what we call "Chambre d'hotes" in France. We visited this place because we live nearby and sometimes we need extra room for friends and family. This typical French house does not look great on the outside but once you have opened the door, walked in and visit the garden you will be pleasendly surprised.

This is a brilliant place to pass a relaxing, comfortable and tranquil few days. The facilities are excellent, bed extremely comfortable, the breakfast everything it should be. You have a garden kitchen to use with washing machine and drier -fridge-freezer for food and wine, glasses, cutlery and crockery and small hotplate to cook on. Beds made & room cleaned daily,... Spent two nights here in the summer. First night rather disturbed - no fault of the hotel - water flooding property next door with pompiers, police etc. to sort it out rather noisily at about 3.00am! Otherwise an excellent place to stay Large comfortable en suite room well furnished, although we did pick two of the hottest nights of the... More

The house is wonderful and very spacey, which combined with the super-friendly couple running the place makes for an excellent atmosphere for visiting this side of the country. Rooms and bathrooms are big and furnished with good taste. Gardens and swimming pool are great to relax a bit. We also enjoyed breakfast, especially the different jams. It surprised us that... More

Just returned from a very pleasant and enjoyable stay at Hotel de Surgeres in the centre of the town. This small hotel is very comfortable, a typical french house with plenty of character. It has a large garden with swimming pool and enclosed parking. The owner, Mr Depardieu made us very welcome and helped us considerably with local information. His... More

Wonderful surprise behind an unpromising facade. An exceptional chambre d'hotes. M.Depardieu could not have been more helpful or generous with his hospitality. He went out of his way to make our 9 days stay memorable. The twin-room suite was spacious, comfortable and well-maintained although a little noisy by being at the front of the building overlooking the main road. Breakfasts... More

We decided to go 'off piste' rather than staying in nearby La Rochelle. Hotel de Surgeres was exactly what we were looking for and more: a grand house, a very spacious suite 'Les Roses de la Vie', an extensive garden with swimming pool, an attentive host who did everything he could to make us feel welcome and comfortable. M. Depardieu... More
