Beautiful small boutique hotel in Senglea, which is a fantastic location to visit Valetta and surrounding areas
We were made to feel very welcomed and nothing was too much trouble
Very comfortable bed and spotlessly clean room which was very quiet at all times, breakfast was always delicious, fresh from The Snop Bakery next door.
I would highly recommend and will be making a return visit in the future.
Thanks again Andy & Sarah

As a former resident of the island I'm always selective with where I stay and the Snop House exceeded my expectations. First Senglea is a great location to base yourself, offering easy pedestrian and ferry access to everywhere while still having free parking if you need a car. The place itself is heaving with history and a great selection of restaurants are a short walk away.

More importantly, The Snop House is a beautifully renovated townhouse with wonderful owners and staff that are very hospitable the old fashioned way. There is attention to detail in the room decor and art, cleanliness is impeccable, the rooftop has stunning views and a great place for a sunset drink, the continental breakfasts are high quality and with table service (I wasn't expecting that), and you still get a feeling like you are staying with friends.

The room was cosy but had everything I needed and was also very quiet and pretty cool even with the air-conditioning off. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on my next visit. In fact it will be my go-to.

If I could, I would give this place a rating of 11! Where to start..... excellent location in Senglea on a quiet street with groceries and pharmacies close by. Walking distance to the water front where you will find excellent restaurants with a beautiful view. The ferry to Valleta is also a 15 mins walk from the hotel. We had a larger room facing the street with an excellent bed and large bathroom. The whole building is adorned with pieces of art personally selected by the owners. Breakfast is served downstairs and comprises of fresh bread and baked items, yogurt, jams (you must try the prickly pear jam), hard boiled eggs, cheese and cold cuts, and of course any type of coffee you desire. But what makes the place so inviting are both Shawn and Matthew at the reception, as well as the housekeeping staff, who go the extra step to make you feel right at home. Sublime!

We have just returned from a 5-day break at The Snop House and simply cannot recommend this small, boutique hotel highly enough. It is in a beautifully renovated Maltese town house with traditional balconies at the front and modern, simple décor inside including some delightful modern art from the owner’s collection. We came with another couple and should have been here in May 2020, but due to covid our trip was postponed numerous times and this was our fourth attempt to get here! David and Olivier have been simply amazing and patient with our many postponements and did everything they could to ensure we got here in the end. It was certainly worth it and did not disappoint; from the moment we stepped through the door, we felt welcomed and were treated with the utmost kindness and concern, with nothing being too much trouble.
Our room was spotless and spacious with a comfy bed and good-sized bathroom. David was an attentive, knowledgeable host, providing an ample and varied breakfast every morning and has a wealth of information about the culture, places of interest, food, wine, restaurants, history and ways to get around the island. It was a little cool to sit on the roof terrace, but we were able to help ourselves to drinks from the terrace honesty bar and sit comfortably in the lobby area for an evening nightcap.
The hotel is well placed in Senglea, on the quieter side of the Grand Harbour, in walking distance of a regular ferry across to Valletta and for exploring the narrow streets of the Three Cities. Overall, it couldn’t have been a more perfect place to stay with more genial hosts.

We stayed at the Snop House for 4 nights. The house is tastefully furnished with quality furniture and fittings and interesting pieces of art throughout.

There are 6 rooms in all. Ours on the second floor was huge with a traditional enclosed balcony, large bathroom and separate area with wardrobes and drawers. A kettle is provided in the room and Clarins shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom.

Breakfast is served in an intimate courtyard and in the kitchen. It’s typical continental breakfast. One day we had Manuel’s home made apple pie which was a good addition.

The location is very quiet and a perfect base to return to after busy days in Valetta. The return ferry (5-10 mins walk away) is only €0.90 return for over 60s! Remember to take your ID. There are some good restaurants nearby in Senglea and Birgu which is walkable.

Manuel prepared breakfast every day and was very informative about places to visit. He and David who showed us around when we arrived are very friendly and helpful.

Would advise using Bolt if you’re coming from the airport, cost is €9-€11

I would thoroughly recommend this house as a base for visiting Valletta.

Excellent hosts: friendly, professional, helpful, very quick to fix any issues with the room. Great sized room, with impressive decor and furnishings. Fantastic continental breakfasts (no cooked food apart from boiled eggs), freshly prepared to order. Plenty of good quayside restaurants available, a few minutes' walk down the hill (there are lots of steps, but these can be avoided if you take a longer route down). The ferry to Valletta is approx 10 minutes' walk away, with departures roughly every half hour. There is lots of street parking available, free of charge. We couldn't fault this hotel, and would highly recommend.

A small boutique hotel in an historic suburb of Valetta, a 10 min ferry ride from Valetta. Well refurbished town house with lots of art and attention to detail. Lots of stairs but also a lift. Would particularly like to thank Sean the house manager for his care and attention, and advice on restaurants and local events. Good continental breakfast, tailor made with variations over our stay. Roof terrace with honesty bar. Lovely place.

An ideal base to explore both the 3 cities, Valletta and Malta. Our spacious room -Cabrighar was located on the top floor and offered great views. The room had both a ceiling fan and air conditioning, comfortable bed and a rainfall shower and was beautifully decorated with original works of art procured by the owner Olivier as are the public areas.
There’s free on street parking outside the hotel although spaces are limited. It’s just a 10 minute walk to the frequent passenger ferry to Valletta and there are some good restaurants within a short stroll.
To say they only have 6 rooms breakfast is more than adequate with goodies coming from the owners newly opened French boulangerie next door, crusty breads, pastries, cheese and ham, fruit, homemade preserves and boiled eggs are all very tasty.
The owner is mostly off site but help, advice and practicalities are covered by the very friendly David who can’t do enough for customers (he came in to do our breakfast specially on the last day as we had an early flight ).

A great choice, excellent value for money, fantastic hosts and a hidden gem.

What an amazing jewel in Malta! Owners Olivier and Sophie and super host Manuel welcomed us with open arms and made us feel a part of their wonderful family. Not only have they created a perfect ambiance, but they went out of their way to serve us in every way possible in order to make our time in Malta absolutely awesome. Entering the Snop House is like walking into an art gallery which is your dream home, each room beautifully appointed with art, amenities and the most heavenly bed, sheets and pillows we've ever experienced! Manuel's daily breakfast is a sumptuous & plentiful assortment of croissants, pastries, eggs, cheeses, cold cuts and the most heavenly moist and luscious Maltese sun-dried tomatoes we've ever tasted. Plus, Manuel went out of his way as a barista to make our coffee exactly how we like it. The location in quaint, quiet and historical Senglea was perfect for us, easily accessible to Valetta by a short ferry ride, a 10-minute stroll to Birgu and with plenty of nearby parking options for our rental car. In this business it's also the little things that count, in which The Snop House excels: quick and easy check-in, fast and free WiFi, plenty of USB charger outlets ... and, amazingly, free drinking water (natural and sparkling) in each room, as well as free local calls .... things other hotels typically overcharge for. I can't recommend this charming boutique hotel enough. Great value for your money. We now have a home in Malta.

We stayed here for a week whilst we toured around Malta, mainly by bus. The owner and his staff were very friendly and helpful, and the small hotel is very modern, clean and comfortable. It is a bit like staying in somebody's town house, rather than a normal hotel. We had a 1st floor room with a balcony that looked onto a small central atrium above the breakfast and kitchen area. It was a bit odd that the balcony was accessed via the bathroom, which limited ventilation and practicality, but it was not a major problem. The bedroom was not that big, and had limited daylight with no television, so not a place to hang around in if the weather was poor. Unfortunately, noise from people talking early in the morning in the breakfast/kitchen area often woke us up, so a room on a higher floor would be better. The bathroom was lovely, but I'm not sure if our shower was faulty as the water temperature was not stable. Breakfast was nice and food plentiful, with personal service at the tables by the owner, although my wife did miss her fresh fruit and yoghurts in the morning. There is a guest lounge area adjacent to reception, and an honesty bar on the top floor next to the roof terrace, which was nice. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk to the ferry across the harbour to Valetta, which is very cheap to use. There are lots of steps to be negotiated though. There are also decent restaurants nearby around the harbour, so you don't have to eat in Valetta. We enjoyed our stay, and would recommend this place if you are not looking for a typical hotel. But I would ask for a room with an outside window on a higher floor if possible. Also, we found the chauffeur/taxi service used by the owner a bit expensive. Just get a normal taxi at the airport - it's cheaper. All in all, a very nice small friendly hotel, but a few issues for the owner to address if he can.....the "taxi" service, the noise coming up early from the breakfast area, the shower temperature, and breakfast choices (maybe go self service?).... and it would make it even better! Try it!
