I used to love eating at the Fishermans Return, but since their expansion the food quality is really poor. The last three times I've been were poor, huge amounts of salad without any dressing, and the main course has been poor. Recently on 27/9/2016 had fish and chips and it tasted more of stale oil than of fish and chips.... More

We stayed in the village and ate here on the Friday night Food was lovely and service was great. The pub was packed, always a good sign. There were 5 of us eating and drinking, 2 courses and more than enough to drink for little over £100 pounds. The portions were HUGE, beware if you don't have a big appetite......sometimes... More

The starter was over priced for what you got and when I mentioned and showed them the olives that where bruised and looking sorry for themselves all they said was sorry about that. The rest of the food was very bland apart from the side salad. Will not visit again £35 for 2 mains & starter (Omelette & Burger)

We had a drink but didn't eat at the pub, staff were lovely, we did see the meals going out and they looked great, great place ito visit . Wintertom on sea is a delightful place to visit, the pub seems to be centre of the village, well worth a visit

Stayed here for three nights and overall were very happy. The accommodation was good although you felt a bit like a hobbit in accessing the room! There was a beer and cider festival taking place when we arrived so good selection of drinks. The restaurant was very busy but they coped well and wait was not excessive. Lots of live... More

read all the negative reviews, and as 1st time visitors to the area we can only describe our experience as it was, we thought it was nice that it is dog friendly pub that is quite modern inside but without losing its historic charm. Food was good, nice portions sizes too, didn't have to wait that long at peak time either.... More

Massive portions of food, not the most cost effective meal. Onion Rings were fabulous Cheesy Chips were massive and good value Kids lasagne miss heard by bar staff and became adult, far far to much for a 12yr old. Fisherman's platter was disappointing and tasted like frozen product. Similar for the Whole tail scampi, I beg to differ as this... More

We went to this pub for a late Saturday lunch. Having read a previous review I was not expecting much. However I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I had smoked salmon and my friend had sea bream. They were both excellent and so much we couldn't eat it all. I always pay a visit to the toilet and rate... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the Fishermans Return. A 300 year old brick and flint Freehouse situated in the picturesque unspoilt Norfolk village of Winterton-on-Sea. Long stretches of sandy beaches and beautiful walks are all within a few minutes of the pub. We serve up to five real ales as well as Westons Old Rosie Cider. Our food is freshly prepared and we use locally sourced ingredients where we can. Being close to the sea, fish naturally features prominently on our specials board. Well behaved dogs are most welcome. ... more   less
