The food was excellent. Nothing fancy but good honest food and plenty of it. The Speights draft beer was terrible as was the bottle of local Pinot noir one of our party ordered. I don't know what it cost but should never have been put in a bottle. The building itself is very impressive. Large roof beams with a lot...

The meals were fantastic, recommend the lamb shanks. Staff are hardworking and friendly. A nice peaceful place to stay. Plenty to see and do within half an hours drive from the Inn - curling, fishing at Coal pit dam, E Hayes museum and St Bathans.

We've stayed here 5 times as we love this place and often take friends to stay. Built in the 1800's as a coach inn, to stay before or after crossing the pass, it has an amazing atmosphere with it's large crackling fire in the enormous lounge/bar area. The owners and staff are very accomodating to ensure we enjoy our stay.

After a life time of wanting to stay at Danseys Pass Coach Inn, the overnight experience did not disappoint. My elderly father and I enjoyed one night of serene style there in November. Although the weather was mild / cool and overcast, it only added to the quiet charm of the setting amongst large, leafy green sycamore trees, with the...

What could be better than a bottle of Otago red wine in front of a roaring fire after a drive through amazing Otago back country scenery? It was a Monday night and we had the rustic inn to ourselves but still received the best of friendly hospitality and delicious cuisine. Our bed was warm and comfortable and the ensuite was...

Thank you for your comments and we are really pleased you enjoyed your stay here. The weather has been a bit miserable lately so the fire has had plenty of use. Safe travels home.

We were a group of 11 celebrating a special birthday, and had made our dinner reservation several months in advance. The food and the service were both poor. Specifically: it took more than 1.5 hours for our food to be served; the venison was poor quality and so rubbery it was hard to cut (no steak knife provided) and hard...

Thank you for taking the time to describe the experience your group had here at Danseys Pass and I sincerely apologise the evening was so disappointing for your group on such an important celebration. As I mentioned when you raised concerns on that evening and in your subsequent email we work hard to prepare as much of the meal as...

Travelled from Naseby to the Danseys Pass and stopped here for lunch. Enjoyed a beer while deciding on the menu. Both the chicken burger and salmon salad were great, and the coffee and carrot cake to finish were fantastic also!

The Danseys Pass Coaching Inn is a rare find in a beautiful setting at the southern end of a high country pass. It dates from the 1860s but has been restored with a great deal of sympathy for its origins and is very comfortable with a magical huge open fire. It snowed overnight when we stayed and the simple but...

This is the only accommodation for about 50 km along an infrequently travelled route but is well worth seeking out. An historic coach inn from the 1860's that has been extended in the 1990's to a restaurant/bar/hotel. The extension is beautiful, and the old hotel rooms are very atmospheric if ageing. The restaurant food is first class and very reasonably...

What a unique place. Despite the cold, frost and snow, it was warm inside...a lovely big open fire. No tv or phone coverage....just good old fashioned fun and laughter in the evening with other people staying there. Great way of meeting others. Food was lovely despite being a little cold and running out of dessert dishes. Bar facilities and ambience...
