This beautiful thatched pub in one of the prettiest villages in Dorset looked so promising. Sadly it disappointed on all fronts. The garden was inexplicably closed it was a lovely evening so why? The pub decor was tired and dated with shabby, grubby, 80's carpet and naffg ornaments. The food was very poor. Frozen fish for the cod and ships..... More

My partner and I had a meal there on Monday 15th August. The first problem was I had to queue twice once to order drinks and again to order food. On being seated I noticed several glum looking faces and this should of made me walk out. We had to wait almost an hour for our food , several people... More

We were driving to the beaches in Dorset and decided to stop at this inn to have some food and drink located about 5 minutes before we got to the beach. It's a quaint English inn with a pub serving the usual food and beverage items you would expect. We ordered fish & chips, chicken and mushroom pies and washed... More

Stayed for a weekend at the beginning of August. The hotel needs serious updating and was unwelcoming during the evenings to non-locals. We were asked to leave the bar at 10pm and could hear local customers still in the bar from our room. We booked a room with a double bed but the bed was small and the room was... More

We were staying at the local caravan park but we ventured down most nights to the Castle for our evening meals. The staff are extremely friendly making you feel welcome as soon as you walk though the door. The food is unbelievable, a great menu which caters for everyone. The cider menu is out of this world different types from... More

My girlfriend and I visited Durdle Door and on the way there we passed by Castle Inn. We were stunned by this village and how all the houses looked like. We were so hungry so we stopped there for a nice lunch. We had a jacket potato with curry and chicken and ham pie with peas. It all tasted really... More

This is a quaint thatched pub/hotel. My guess is it relies on passing trade as it is on the way to Lulworth and pubs are few and far between. £1.90 for half pint cider seems expensive to me. Two hamburger an chips, fish an chips and a ploughman's cost £41. Then two pie and chips £26. I would like to... More

We booked over the phone about 4 months in advance and the fact that it was dog friendly and in the location we wanted was perfect! It definitely did not live up to our expectations! The pub was interior was in a poor state and smelt stale. The room we were given was horrible, damp on the walls, old torn... More

Great food and a fantastic selection of ales and ciders. Accommodation was very comfortable, large room but in need of a little refurbishment. Some noise from outside the pub at night, but as it closes at 10pm this wasn't a problem. Overall a very enjoyable stay at a very good pub.
