A visit to Elewana Kifaru House is to plunge into the timeless tranquility of Africa. Located within the world-famous Lewa Conservancy, home to East Africa’s healthiest black and white rhino populations, this bijou property, appropriately takes its name from the Swahili word for rhino. A haven of luxury in the bush, guests will immediately feel at home on arrival, warmly welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff. The comfortable sitting room with well-stocked bar and elegant dining area extend out to a large, comfortably furnished terrace. Here, guests can enjoy a sunny breakfast al fresco and watch the busy goings-on at the waterhole below, or they can choose to relax by the picturesque infinity pool and enjoy the magnificent views over the distant plains.

The setting and accommodations are in a league of their own. They even have hair dryers. The Lewa Conservancy and Rhino conservation program is world class. The staff are wonderful and you feel part of their community. One of the best bush breakfasts in Africa.

Property's Favorite Review
Kifaru House was our first stop during our safari experience and it surpassed all expectations We felt so warmly embraced by the entire staff who truly went the extra mile to help celebrate my 40th birthday on New Year's Eve. Amazing massage by Janet, special cake and birthday song along with an outdoor fire with Masai villagers dancing and singing. We loved the property itself as well with beautiful views out across Lewa and all the way to Mount Kenya. Our cottage (#2) was well-appointed, comfortable, and luxurious. The food! The food was delicious throughout our three-night stay. But the game drives were the real highlight with our guide, Philip, providing an unsurpassed experience in beautiful Lewa. We explored different areas of the conservancy each of our three days, barely encountering any other vehicles, but spending a lot of one-on-one time with black and white rhinos, elephants, giraffes, ostrich, lions, and countless other creatures. Phillip was incredibly knowledgeable about all the animals as well as the land, culture, and people. He selected absolutely stunning spots for bush breakfasts and sundowners - with views from both remaining our favorite moments of our entire 14 day trip. Of all the places we visited, Lewa was by far our favorite. So peaceful and naturally beautiful with the rolling hills, mountains, lush savanna, and of course, the animals. Kifaru House is the perfect place from which to explore this really special and magical place. I can't recommend this property and experience highly enough.

Dear Kelly Thank you so much for your beautiful words. It is always so amazing to read reviews from our guests and hear how much they enjoyed their time with us here at Kifaru House. We are so happy you were with us on your birthday and that we got to celebrate in true Kenyan style; each birthday we have is special and we wanted you to feel just that. Philip truly is a gem, having grown up in the areas around Lewa his knowledge of the flora and fauna on the conservancy is truly amazing, even to visitors who have been in the past he always seems to pass on new knowledge to them. Being a Laikipiat Masai by birth he has real insight into what culture one can expect to find in our area. As we like to say, it is not a goodbye but rather until we meet again. We hope we might see you and Simon again one day soon. Best wishes Phoebe and the entire Elewana Kifaru House Team

From the amazing accommodations to the attentive staff to the incredible game drives, this place exceeded every expectation. The setting is unique and a splendid blend of African history and British influence. The food is delicious and the view for breakfast and sundowners cannot be beat. The bungalows are beautiful and private and have out door showers (real shower with hot water) so you can shower under the stars. So romantic, We want to come back!

What a lovely property! With only six cottages this property is intimate and exclusive. The property is pristine and views from the spacious cottages and pool area are spectacular…with the added plus of grazing animals in close proximity. (Zebras made a visit during our pool time.) The staff was warm, personable, yet totally professional….we cannot give them enough accolades. By the end of our stay, we very much felt like part of their family. The food and service was incredible…at every meal and tea time! Godfrey, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable…and very patient, so we saw incredible things through his eyes. This was by far our favorite property and location during our tour of Kenya…..five stars at every level.

We found Kifaru House to be so much more than we imagined. Andrew and his staff were so welcoming and kind. Our guide Phillip was excellent-knowledgeable and friendly. The accommodations were superb. The food was excellent, very fresh, tasty and the chef and the food service staff was very mindful of food allergies that two in our group suffer with. Our waiter and waitress were so nice. I was ill with a chest cold after arrival and Janet took such good care of me along with Andrew. For some, being ill away from home can be a bit scary but I knew I was in good hands. Two in our group did a walking safari with Phillip and a wonderful ranger and they said it was the highlight of the trip! Kifaru House was nothing less than a 5 star experience. I would return in a heartbeat. And our group has stayed at wonderful properties around the world! Thank you Andrew and your great staff!

Dear Lisa Thank you so much for your kind words, it was an absolute pleasure hosting you here at Kifaru House. Philip really is a true gem on our guiding team and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with him. Lewa has some of the best walking in Kenya and we're lucky to be able to offer such a unique experience to our guests; and with a ranger who has been on Lewa for over 25 years, Ribo does know the best spots. We are so fortunate to have a beautiful organic veggie patch here, where we grow most of our herbs as well as lettuce and this truly adds that farm-to-table feel to all our meals. We are happy to hear we made you feel comfortable during your unfortunate episode of illness and we hope you are feeling better now and that it didn't impact on the rest of your holiday. We hope we can host you again here at Kifaru in the not so distant future. Best wishes, Phoebe and the entire Elewana Kifaru House Team
