We were the first time in Iceland. About a month prior to our visit, we began to plan our trip and book accommodations. We decided to stay close to Reykjavik three days and this location was perfect to what we had in mind. Staff was really nice and the room as we expected. Breafast was really good and convenient place to park the car.
Motel style. Stayed there after flying into keflavik, about 40mn away. Convenient if driving. Suburban area with shops around . Parking lot outside. Nice large rooms. Very good beds. Very good breakfast.
I chose this hotel because I was going snorkeling at Silfa. The location was good for that. From the pictures I was expecting the hotel to be more country setting. I’m sure at one time is was country, but it is all built up around the hotel. KFC is right next door. Cute hotel, room was very spacious, we stayed in a second floor room. Reception was very friendly. My only complaint was the strong smell of sulfur in the bathroom sink water. I waited to shower until we got to our next hotel, the next day.
very clean and cozy, good hot spring water with bath tub good quality breakfast and the reception is very kind Location is just near the big road, close to ring road We arrived late, but they were so kind and we had really good time
Great location if you don’t want to stay in Reykjavík proper. Did day trips to Seljalandsfoss, Black Sand Beach, Sky Lagoon, Blue Lagoon, Old Harbour, and Reykjavík. Friendly staff. Clean accommodations. A bit of confusion about the room type we had reserved and paid for. We had paid for a family room for 4. Informed hotel in advance that we would only be 3 in the end. Still paid for family room for 4, but told breakfast was going to be free/included. Was under the impression that breakfast was included anyhow?! Didn’t press the issue because staff (Sgürn) tried hard to make things right, and figured it wasn’t worth spoiling our trip over. Would stay here again and recommend because of location and service.
We booked the hotel because of many other travelers rating Laxnes hotel top because of the helpfulness of the staff and also because the hotel is situated a little bit away from the city center of Reykjavik. We didn´t get disappointed. Because this was our first trip to Iceland we needed a lot of assistance and we did get it. Traveling time to Reykjavik city center is app. 30 mins and the bus number 15 departs right in front of the hotel. The landscape around is just lovely. We will definitely come back.
We stayed for two separate nights on a fishing tour of Iceland. Rooms and beds were really comfortable and once we’d established that the hot water had a sulphury smell and it wasn’t the drains we were settled. Much of Iceland is the same! All the staff were really helpful and welcoming .
Overall a very nice stay. There are two things that I would consider making better. The bed felt old and keeping a window open on the ground floor felt a little unsafe. One could rip it open and climb into the room. Everything else was up to par and I enjoyed the stay. Really clean and the staff was excellent. Would stay there again. :)
Rooms clean warm comfortable We ordered the lamb stew which was good and although advertised refills we could hear the member of staff scraping the pan to try and get enough to refill our dishes. The crusty bread was sliced bread toasted. But definitely a good place to stay.
We were a group of three friends staying 4 nights in a triple room. Hotel Laxnes is excellent if you need a quiet hotel near enough Reykjavik that you can easily go into town daily but also enjoy the views and walks of the local countryside. The bus stop (bus 15 to Reykjavik) is super close and runs quite late. There’s also some good walks past waterfalls starting from the hotel. We had a lovely view of lupins and mountains from our room, and of course…fantastic waffles for breakfast! Thanks everyone xx
