Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo is lauded for its cleanliness and enviable location near Shinjuku station, making it a convenient choice for many travelers. Despite the peaceful ambiance, some areas, particularly the South Tower, are considered dated and lacking in atmosphere. While the hotel's amenities generally receive praise, particularly the dining options and comfortable rooms, guests have called out the high cost of breakfast and additional fees for amenities such as pool access. Service is recognized as professional, but can feel impersonal and slow during busy periods. Room quality seems to be a hit or miss, with some offering spaciousness and impressive views while others are in need of an update.

It is a huge hotel in a strategic location. Big rooms, average breakfast. One morning I was waiting for 45 minutes to be seated. I think they should “extend” the breakfast area. Otherwise clean and sufficient for Tokyo. I wouldn’t go there if I have family with me.

The hotel is right in the heart of Shinjuku & the train station which allows you to access the whole Japan easily. Although it requires about 7 to 10 minutes of walking to the train station but it is already convenient. The hotel also has airport limousine bus coach to arrive at the front of the hotel lobby. So it is a perfect location to stay. I stayed here in October 2019 as I came here for my Soka faith training hence I had a good impression of the hotel & still could remember its surrounding. Hence, I decided to book this hotel again for my travelling leisure with my husband due to its good location & convenience. The hotel staffs are helpful, friendly & polite & important that they can speak English although some staffs may not be able to speak fluent English. The housekeeping is top notch & clean. The amenities are fully equipped & they even provide pyjamas besides bath robes. Every day they will change the pyjamas so you no need to worry about hygiene as the hotel places high priority on cleanliness & hygiene. I also like their foldable mirror which does not take up space & I could just flip it opened to use for my makeup. Brilliant idea from the hotel! The hotel room is clean & spacious as we know Tokyo is an expensive place to stay & some hotel rooms are small. The hotel is also handicapped friendly as their hotel rooms have rams going to the toilet & there is a chair to sit in front of the water basin as the toilet designs are meant for handicapped hotel guests. Very thoughtful of the hotel. The hotel rooms have been renovated & upgraded as it looks different from my last visit in October 2019. Some rooms are still undergoing renovation I guess but they kept the noise to the minimum & I could not hear any sound. I was given a high floor room & I had a good view. The bed is comfortable & pillows are acceptable to me although my husband hopes the hotel could provide contour pillow but unfortunately they do not provide. There are few restaurants inside the hotel but there are more choices when you walk out behind the hotel or if we walk to Takashimaya Times Square. We were spoiled for many food choices & some are really affordable & delicious. If I come back again, I will definitely want to stay here again as it is just so convenience & they provide a 5-star service.

I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a package tour arranged by a UK travel agent and I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is in a very convenient location, just 5 minutes' walk from the massive Shinjuku railway station and the myriad of department stores, shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities around that busy part of Tokyo. That said, the hotel is set in a quiet business / commercial area and there was a pleasant park close by. It is also close to a local government building which has a free of charge observatory from where you can enjoy amazing views of the sprawling metropolis and a nightly light show projected onto it, both of which are definitely worth seeing. The hotel itself is a bit dated in terms of its lobby area, but the reception staff spoke amazing English and offered exceptional service. Our smart, clean, well-appointed twin room on the 19th floor of the South Tower was recently renovated, exceptionally spacious (especially by Tokyo standards) and was very quiet and comfortable indeed. The bathroom was a little more dated decoratively but had a great shower, tub, the ubiquitous Toto Washlet (Japanese automated toilet / bidet) and a fabulous selection of toiletries and amenities. Breakfast was served buffet style in a bright, spotlessly clean and smartly fitted 2nd floor restaurant and offered a good choice of quality western and traditional Japanese breakfast items. Again, the service was efficient, attentive and courteous. The hotel offers a number of other dining choices and a really handy, affordably priced 24hr (or very nearly 24hrs!) convenience store too. I'd definitely stay here again on a future visit and would be happy to recommend it to others.

As bare minimal as you can get for a hotel in this price range. So underwhelming. The rooms were not clean. I didn't want to walk around bare feet because the carpet was visibly dirty. The bathroom smelled like there was backup sewage so I actually used their fabric freshner found in the closet to spray it down. The bathtub looked like it's seen its days. The room was spacious though and the bed was comfortable. It was a bit alarming to see numerous posts about making sure to lock the door, never let anyone in without checking through the peep hole, make sure the door closes completely when you are leaving, etc. I mean, it's normal to see the generic lock your doors notice but the excessiveness made me think I should be worried. I stayed in the South Tower and the front desk person told me the South Tower was newly renovated. I don't know if he way lying to me or if they just missed my room. Or maybe the renovation was newly done 20 years ago. Also, I don't know if it's the price range or the caliber of the hotel that attracts the guests it does but on multiple nights I stayed there were people running down the hallway, laughing, yelling, calling each other down the hallway past midnight each night. I don't know why this is an appropriate thing to do but there it was. In the middle of the night. There was no lobby or lounge area to speak of. There were chairs set up in rows like you see in the DMV or the doctor's waiting room. Very official and unfriendly. So there is really nowhere to sit and relax after you check out and have some time before heading to the airport. I left about 5 hours before my flight just so I could go to the airport and someplace to relax if that tells you anything. The one positive thing about this hotel is that it is GREAT location. It is about a 2-3 minute walk to Shinjuku station but the area where the hotel is located is a very quiet commercial area. There is also a large post office just a minute walk from the hotel that is open 7 days a week (I bought too many souvenirs and had to mail them off - the post office is great by the way). There is also a number of restaurants and a Starbucks (for those who need this) right nearby. I am torn about staying at this very mediocre hotel again just because of the location.

On arrival they upgraded our room from superior to deluxe and it was very big for a Tokyo hotel room. We stayed in the south tower. I was nervous after reading some of the reviews but the room was clean and spacious, the bathroom was a little run down but nothing that would stop me from staying again. We didn’t have breakfast and the hotel is huge so I can imagine it’s very busy as I’d read in some of the reviews, but there are so many coffee shops around we opted to have breakfast outside of the hotel. The laundry facilities were very busy as there were only 5 machines for each tower and they were 2 in 1 washer dryers - having separate washing machines and tumble dryers and a wet room would have made this 5 stars for me. The staff were all really friendly and we enjoyed our stay.

I had a medical emergency at 12.00am. The treatment i received by the Duty Manager was exceptional. With 10 minutes I had an ambulance team tending my needs. Luckily it was nothing too serious. But I had to go to hospital. PS. The cost of the ambulance and medical treatment was less than a small pair of Gucci slides.

Arrived from Uk early morning but couldn’t check in until 3pm. Very busy hotel lots of tours staying there. We had a lovely buffet lunch there with so much choice. The rooms are adequate, clean and tidy. It’s a quiet room bearing in mind how busy it is. Breakfast was included and very good. Caters for all cuisines. You just have to get there early and be ready to queue but it goes quite quickly. Would recommend it but be prepared for it being busy especially at this time of the year.

The hotel needs an urgent refresh. The worst was the quality of rooms. At best, it measures up to Motel 6 standard with small rooms, 48-inch wide double beds, and tiny bathrooms, which are inaccessible by a second person. The carpets look filthy. When I complained about the width size of the beds, I was told that there was nothing they could do unless I paid out a lot of money to upgrade. Cleaning service was average at best with dirty coffee mugs not changed on 2 of the 4 days we stayed there. Buffet breakfast was very good daily. Location is very good. Be aware of the poor quality of rooms when you choose this hotel, and don't expect any restitution if you complain. We found many other hotels with much better room quality in the Shinjuku area for less price.

I rate this hotel 5 start. The location is fantastic. Front Narita airport there is limousine bus that bring and stop in front the hotel. The room is well appointed. Also stayed includes breakfast. If has been raining a lot right now. From the hotel sort distance to a tunnel the brings you to different trains stations and buses. Also a lot of places to eat around the hotel. If this is your first time in Tokyo stay here

Have stayed here more than 3 times and it has been fantastic each time. Rooms are large and the location is a short walk from Shinjuku Station - so very convenient. there is a decent sized combini on the basement level as well - sells souvenirs and a good selection of food and drinks. The airport limousine bus stops here as well so very easy to get to and from Haneda airport in less than an hour. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Would recommend
