The ANA InterContinental Tokyo garners praise for its spotless cleanliness and stylish atmosphere, with many guests enjoying the renovated rooms and their modern amenities. The club lounge, in particular, stands out for its exceptional service and delightful food offerings, complemented by beautiful views. Upon arriving at this hotel I was greeted by staff members who assisted with luggage from the Taxi. Stepping into the lobby it was very grand and staff were very pleasant and welcoming. I noticed there was nowhere to sit unless you go into the restaurant or café on the ground floor.

Location wise this hotel is very close to a subway station (Tameike-sannō) and taxis are plentiful with one always available. It is in the Roppongi District and is a good base to get to most tourist destinations. It is also not too far from the famous Imperial Hotel in Tokyo and also Tokyo Station.

Checking in at the Ambassador desk was excellent. I did not get the staff members name but she was certainly very helpful and informative speaking fluent Japanese and English and acknowledging IHG status and informing of all available benefits and amenities and assisting with luggage storage until the room was ready. (which was actually very quickly) Luggage was later bought up to our room ready for us before we arrived.

While we were waiting for our room we took the opportunity to try the lunch buffet at the Cascade cafe on the ground floor and I had to say I was very impressed with the quality and range of food and the waiter service for a buffet. This hotel actually has a large number of restaurants and bars of different cuisines including Japanese, Chinese, Steakhouse and more and also of course an Intercontinental Club lounge. We also had breakfast at the Cascade café which I am pleased to say also had a large variety of choices and excellent service. Notably much more busy during breakfast service than the lunchtime.

The upgraded suite we were given was of a very large size and certainly humungous for Japan hotel room standards. The interior was very modern and the view from the room was nice and even better at night time being that we were on a very high floor. The room was split into three separate areas all separated by sliding doors, A living room, Bedroom and bathroom/toilet with separate walk in shower and bath tub. When all the sliding doors were opened the suite seemed very spacious.

I didn't have time to use the pool but I did manage to see it from above, it looked very large. Likewise did not have time to use the club lounge on this occasion however I wanted to have a quick look to see what is was like. During our quick visit I was greeted by some of the most courteous and polite club lounge staff I have met across the world at InterContinental's. This is definitely one of the nicest and largest Club lounges I seen in an Intercontinental and on my next stay I would certainly make use of this. One of the things to note is that all the bars in the hotel were all closed early so we was unable to get a drink relatively early around 10pm. Might have been that particular day of the week.

Upon checkout the staff member at the ambassador desk Hiromoni Nagano was excellent and assisted with the check out process swiftly and helped me to get a taxi for my onwards destination. This left a very good impression of the Intercontinental ANA Tokyo. When back in Tokyo I would definitely consider this Intercontinental again!

Room upgraded eventhough I was staying for 5 nights. Prompt service as one would expect, plus delivering items dropped off by my office to my room with appropriate security checks. I appreciate the eco friendly approach to changing linen every 2 days, good coffee compliments of the house, and comfy towel and bathrobes

This time, the family stayed on the club floor a little luxuriously because of the milestone birthday.
Checkin is smooth and you don’t have to go out again because there are cute sweets in your room! Two twin beds as well as a sofa bed have been prepared from the time of entry, allowing a family of four to sleep comfortably.
The club lounge was also renovated, so there was a family-only one, and you could spend some time in the lounge right after arrival, without worrying about the age of the children.
Although the lounge was not large, there were plenty of family seats available by the window, and we were very comfortable and relaxed with the attentive service. Thank you to Monina and everyone else who responded 😊

A Disappointing Stay at the Intercontinental – Far From 5-Star Standards

Having stayed in numerous 5-star hotels worldwide, including the excellent Intercontinental Osaka, which remains one of the better luxury hotel experiences I’ve had, I was appalled by the stark contrast at this property. Frankly, this hotel is more on par with a 3.5-star Japanese business hotel – and I’ve stayed at many of those.

Arrival and Check-In—Upon arrival, I had to remind the staff that my booking included a Club Room, entitling me to check in on the 35th floor. This fundamental oversight immediately set the tone for a poorly managed experience. Seamless and attentive service should be given at this level, yet it was glaringly absent.

Room Standards: The "suite" was shockingly small, offering none of the space or luxury you’d expect from a high-end hotel. The bed is uncomfortably hard, and the rollaway bed, for which I paid a significant extra fee for my daughter, is equally unusable due to its discomfort. Adding insult to injury, the air conditioning doesn't work properly (and when I asked for help, no one had any idea how to fix it) , and the shower was not clean – basic standards that even a budget hotel would typically meet.

Club Experience and Service were underwhelming at best. The staff was not friendly or welcoming, and the service felt indifferent and impersonal. The polished, anticipatory service that defines a true 5-star experience was nowhere to be found.

Overall Impression - I’d rather sleep at 2 a.m. than write this, but I feel compelled to give an honest review so others can be warned NOT to stay here. We have another seven nights booked at this property, but I am cancelling and moving to another hotel tomorrow. Staying here simply isn’t worth the premium rates or the frustration.

If you are considering this property, save yourself the disappointment and choose an alternative. If the Intercontinental Osaka sets the benchmark for excellence, this property doesn’t even come close.

ANA Intercontinental is my home away from home and the only place I will stay when in Tokyo whether for business or pleasure. There is direct limousine bus service to hotel. I also always book my room with Club Lounge access who has the most phenomenal staff with the utmost personalized customer service. Maureen Arisa always remembers me upon my return, personally greets me, and remembers my food and drink preferences. The Club Supervisor is the most lovely woman who also offers me warm greetings upon my return. The Club Lounge is beautiful with lots is space if you like privacy. The best thing is you go directly to the 35th floor to check in and can leave your luggage if your room is not ready; then, you find your luggage in your room upon your return. There is direct access to the Ginza line that takes you directly to the most popular stations.

I only have positive comments about this hotel. The location is pretty good - close to Tokyo Mid Town and Roppongi, which have a wide range of restaurants / cafes.
We stayed in a renovated room, which was extremely quiet and comfortable, if a little bit small.
The breakfast is a real highlight. The "Western" buffet has a wide range of food available, with eggs cooked to order and lovely fresh fruits. The "Japanese" section is supremely quiet and calm.
The staff are marvelous - without exception, they are all charming.
We would certainly return.

This did not go well. There were three of us, my partner and my daughter and thought 2 degrees outside, the room was incredibly hot. We had gone out for dinner and come back and the room was unbearable. You could put the temperature to 17 degrees if you want, but the air and the heat just would not stop. It took an hour of phone calls, walking down to the reception, then calling several times to get someone to fix. This is my pet peeve, rooms that make you think you have individual temperature control, but it's fake.

The drill is you call reception, they bring up the mechanic, they get on a stool, check the filters, test the air coming out, and then swap the room, only to find the other rooms are pretty much the same. It was 11pm turning midnight and I had a 5am up to catch a flight. So yes, pack the family up at this hour moved to another room which was honestly slightly better.

But there is no excuse for this. This hotel is incredibly expensive to be uncomfortable. Filter cleaning, or individual temperature room control should not be an issue at this price. It was a painful night of no sleep at a high-expense. Not happy. So buyer be warned.

My stay at ANA InterContinental Tokyo was beyond wonderful! The hotel blends luxury with impeccable service, and the panoramic city views from my room were breathtaking. The location is perfect, close to major attractions and transport. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and well-appointed, and the dining options, especially the breakfast buffet, were phenomenal. The staff were attentive and always ready to assist. It’s the ideal place to experience Tokyo in style and comfort.

Further to this: The breakfast at ANA InterContinental Tokyo is simply extraordinary! The variety is incredible, offering everything from traditional Japanese dishes to Western favourites, all beautifully presented and delicious. The quality of the ingredients was top-notch, and I loved the fresh fruit, pastries, and made-to-order eggs. Whether you prefer a light meal or a complete feast, there’s something for everyone. The attentive service and stunning views made each morning a perfect start to the day. A must-try for breakfast lovers!

Highly recommended!

My wife and I (we just got married!) wanted to thank you for our recent stay early in March at your amazing hotel. Having been to Tokyo before, your hotel just made me love the city even more.

We just wanted to thank all the staff that made our stay, which was our honeymoon, truly remarkable. The facilities at your hotel are amazing. The location is very convenient, especially at how central it was (nice views of Tokyo Tower and all of Tokyo may I add). My wife and I had a chance to use your spa and the service was great. The gym was also amazing, modern and what one would expect at an Intercontinental.

The room we stayed at – especially for Tokyo – was very spacious, modern and provided amazing views of the city. A special shoutout to your Club Intercontinental in particular as this is where we spent most of our time at the hotel. Your ambiance embodies that of the classiness of an intercon but also embracing modernity with a Japanese touch. However, it was the staff there that truly made us really enjoy your hotel, truly top notch. Particularly to everyone there but especially to Ann Margaret and Dewi.

Ann Margaret and Dewi really took care of us and made our trip really special. As a whole, the little touches the team did really will never be forgotten such as bringing us cake to congratulate us on our wedding. We will definitely return just because of the club room staff! Thank you again for your hospitality.

That said, I also want to send a special thank you to the concierge for helping me book various restaurants throughout Tokyo as I know many were difficult to get a reservation – so thank you again for your expertise and commitment.

Thank you again for making our trip truly unforgettable we will never forget it!
