We stayed for 3 nights in Osaka and our hotel had to fit the following criteria -Close to a major train station -Easy access from the airport -Affordable We narrowed our location to the Umeda area and had to choose between Hotel New Hankyu and Hotel New Hankyu Annex. In the end it came down to a 5 minute further walk (Annex) vs paying $25 more per night (New Hankyu). We arrived from Kansai International airport by limo bus which dropped us off at Hotel New Hankyu. From there it was about a 5 minute walk to New Hankyu Annex. The walk itself can vary between 2-5 minutes depending how crowded the area is. In our case we arrived on a busy Friday night. Check in was a breeze and the front desk staff spoke decent English. The room is typical of Japanese hotel standards. If you are used to American hotel sizes then you need to keep that expectation out of Japan. The reality is that Japanese hotel sizes are on the smaller side but we comfortably fit ourselves (2 of us) and 2 check in bags and 2 carry on backpacks The room came furnished with the infamous Japanese toilet complete with bidet. Normal Japanese hotel amenities such as shaving razors and toothbrushes were provided. Our room also came furnished with a mini fridge. Also to note is that the pillow was buckwheat style rather than a normal western pillow. The hotel is walking distance to both Umeda and Osaka station. There are many restaurants and convenience stores in the area including 2 Family Marts across the street. An Ichiran is also in the area only minutes away. Some reviews have complained of the hotel being noisy. Our window faced Umeda station and we did not have any complaints about noise. Attached to this review is the view from our hotel during an Osaka sunset. I've definitely had worst views in more expensive hotels. All in all I highly recommend Hotel New Hankyu Annex to those looking for a great location at an affordable price. Note: If traveling with elderly people, Hotel New Hankyu may be a better choice over Annex due to being in a better location to the train station.

Our room for three people was on the 17th floor and we were there for 5 nights. It was rather cramped, but we liked the fact that there were two wash basins - one located in the bathroom itself and the other just outside it. Perhaps the best feature of this hotel is its convenient location near the Umeda train station and a host of moderately-priced eateries situated behind it. Across the road from the main entrance, there is also a 24-hour Family Mart, shops and malls like Hep 5 all within a 10-15 minute walking radius. Service from reception was courteous and prompt. Perks include: breakfast vouchers that allowed us to dine at its more upscale cousin Hotel New Hankyu (less than 5 minutes' walk away), mini packs of DHC deep cleansing oil (super effective in getting rid of make-up) and lotion that are only available for the ladies, as well as a one-day complimentary Osaka train pass that allowed for unlimited train rides to Kyoto, Kobe and Nara. The only downside was the noise. If you are a light sleeper and your room is facing the busy train station, be prepared to have your slumber disrupted by the seemingly 24/7 rumbling of trundling trains, as well as the glare of the neon billboards of surrounding buildings. Of course, if you have deeper pockets, by all means splurge on accommodation in the far grander Hotel New Hankyu, but the Hotel New Hankyu Annex is habitable enough with its mod cons and accessible location.

I stayed at a hotel just around the corner before my husband arrived and decided to stay here as the rate would be cheaper. It is a bit dated but the twin room was the slightest fraction bigger than a single room I stayed in. The wifi kept dropping out and the air con was SO BAD. I can’t imagine what it would be like to stay here during summer. The service was great although I wasn’t a fan of the room itself.

Our first impressions were not good, the lobby looks dated and the attached dining/cafe/restaurant is showing its age. A pleasant surprise was the hallway leading to our room, when you get off the lift you could be lead to believe it is a first class hotel...until you get to your room that is. Our room was cramped and the bathroom had certainly seen better days. It was difficult to work out the airconditioning and the staff were not very helpful as they mostly don't speak english. i think the only thing this hotel has going for it is its location, close to Osaka station (10 min walk) and close to lots of shops including Hep 5. if you are after luxury look elsewhere. The best thing about our stay here was the view from our 17th floor windows. Breakfast was complimentary, however i would take breakfast somewhere else as this is quite a poor selection and they allow smoking within the restaurant.

This hotel is conveniently located and don’t mind its room size as generally, small room in Japan. I love going to japan because their service is number 1 in my mind. I cannot believe it that it happened in Japan and I experience it myself. I stayed for 1 night and asking help to make table reservation and the answer was NO as I only stayed for 1 night. It was requested on the 1st night. On 2nd day, we checked out and need to store our luggages and the front office stuff gave us a BLACK FACE. Are we in Japan? Many hotels in Osaka and definitely I won’t come to this hotel
